If they announced TP or WW Zelda I'd bite. This was so underwhelming. The pricing feels like the 3DS all over again

Was hoping the price will be no more than €450, but €470 is really not that far off.
That was my guess too

This time they went back to LCD to cut down on cost. That was also the price for switch OLED launch in 2021.

The luxury they had of sitting on it means they can achieve this price but I agree with you that they're more likely to opt for higher mark up, especially early on where sales are guaranteed. My guess will be anywhere around 399-450 euros.
They went above the limit I thought it would release at.

And $80 games?

I just got onto the friggin store page... Switch Pro Gamepad is 90€.

JFC Nintendo, that's 20€ more than the Switch 1 Gamepad.

I was ready to drop up to $500 if this thing had PS4 fidelity in portable mode, but everything they showed looked like wet dogshit and there are zero first party games on the horizon.

How so? For people that want portable console PS5 is not an option.
Its a ripoff for what you are getting in terms of hardware and materials.

You also know Nintendo is adding a fuckton of margin on top of that fisher-price looking thing too, unlike Sony and Microsoft.

The question is if the Switch installbase will make the jump to Switch 2, especially at that price.

We've seen with WiiU what can happen and ever since the SNES, Nintendo only released 2 successful consoles:
Wii, which was a fad, and Switch, which is a hybrid and had to use the handheld demographic as leverage.
You are not comparing apples with apples. But we will see. The Switch brand is very powerful and no mixed messages this time round. Hell even my sister is a very definition of a casual gamer, she has the original Switch and only plays Animal Crossing on it. Even she knows about the Switch 2 and wants one. She knows because of the news channel on the Nintendo Switch home screen... Nintendo are no longer new to all this...

Be careful, it only works with Japanese accounts.

Still tempted.

Also I'm assuming the games are still region-free, right? I'd love to pick up some games while I'm there.

Does multiple research show that vast majority of Switch users play only at home?

On the other hand - I guess I can pick some nice sub-120€ deals for Switch Lite.

What the fucking fuck? Guess Nintendo has given up on Europe
449 dollars is fucking 420 € at today's change.

I ain't gonna buy shit at 469,99 € , my price target is 449,90 € and I'll wait for the first Amazon discounts.

Nintendo turned crazy, now you have to pay even for chat, expensive SD cards, games costing 80 or 90 euros, pricey controllers... Only three interesting launch titles, and the rest are mostly ports. On top of that, you even have to pay for the demo game "Welcome Tour," which should be free, like Astro's Playroom on the PS5. They're going to crash hard, just like what happened with the Vita and Wii U.

We will talk about that when Sony portable console arrives. THEN we can compare which one is more overpriced.

I don't even get why people are comparing PS5 and Switch 2, those consoles are not competing directly. Right now Nintendo is competing with Steam/Windows handhelds and not MS/Sony stationary consoles. We know that MS and Sony will launch handhelds in the future.

LMAO no fucking chance I'm getting this until huge a huge price drop.

And what's this about $80 games?

No thanks. More expensive than a PS5. If it had an oled display then maybe. So now we know they will release an oled version for $500 like they did with switch 1. Will not pay $500 for the oled version.

Edit: Also expensives games for $80 hell no.

I'm not writing it off at all. Just pointing out that Switch 2 isn't a guaranteed hit because Switch is the second-best selling console.

Nintendo spent half their conference talking about third party console ports from ps5 type games

So it is fair to compare it as a console, that's what it is

Sign-ups are available on NoA store. I'm buying but I'm a pretty big Nintendo fan. I doubt these prices will go over well with most of the existing Switch audience.

It's all opinions. But I would be shocked if Nintendo did not have another console hit on it's hands here. Launching with Mario Kart World exclusive is a big deal imho.

True, but at €510? Or €90 for the game and €470 for the Switch.

They talk about this stuff every generation and in the end it's always nintendo games that dominate their consoles.

Once PS6 launches third party support for AAA games on SW2 will die...

Often here in GAF people compare the sales of the switch 1 (portable) vs PS2 (console) now we can´t compare the switch 2 vs the PS5 or even Xbox? Oh ok.

I made a joke the other day to someone on here, "Nintendo - You'll take full priced re-releases and you'll like it!"

I was wrong…the will be more than full priced 🤦‍♂️😂

Finally. This is the proper way to launch a new console. A full showcase, then a release two months later. Amazing job, Nintendo. Bravo. I'm honestly impressed.

I'm very happy with this presentation despite the screen freeze

I'm happy that screen is 1080p and looking like everything runs at 60 FPS. I'm just wondering how it's gonna to run undocked because I play games on my Switch equally docked and undocked

First Party games look good so far and I'm sure that they will show more unannounced games this year. I'm really looking forward to what MonolithSoft has cooking. Wished they at least showed something at this direct

All the big games annouced by first and third parties look amazing and I definitely see a noticeable improvement in graphics

What made me happy especially is that with Switch 2 they made sure to make everything much faster. So I expect much faster loading which is what I wanted

Now I'm waiting on the full specs since I want to know how much RAM they are using and if they are using WiFi 6. It looks like their internet is much better overall too

My only issue is that Switch 2 isn't compatible with regular SD Cards. So I'm keeping my Switch until the SD Express Cards can go up to 1TB to 2TB

Bojji Bojji you're such a hater.

You know that it's overpriced because it is 330 dollars in Japan and 450 dollars in the US. The global pricing on this is hilarious and the device is essentially a Switch Pro, but with exclusive games.

When Sony drops the price of the PS5 and PS5 Pro post-GTA6, the Switch 2 is going to struggle to find a market in the west.

In fairness, 470 includes VAT which is about 20% in most European countries. Remove that and price is down to 391 eur = 424 USD.
