I'm a fan of the OLED screens. Switch OLED is beautiful compared to the trash LCD screen. Steam OLED is also beautiful. Switch 2 at that price point, with shitty hardware and no Zelda is an easy pass for me. I'd still get if it had an LCD screen and launched with a new Zelda though, it's not necessarily a deciding factor. But it compounds the issues I have with this launch that's for sure.

Yeah its clear Ninty is baiting us for the double dip witholding an oled edition at launch. Hell, I would pay a premium for it.
Oh well, good things come to those who wait.

Might as well wait for the inevitable OLED version in year or two with a terabyte of storage most likely in a year or two for $500, unless you only care about docked mode of course, but I think that's a small contingent anyway.

LMAO no fucking chance I'm getting this until huge a huge price drop.

And what's this about $80 games?

There won't be a price drop. $450 until the end of time.

Bojji Bojji you're such a hater.

You know that it's overpriced because it is 330 dollars in Japan and 450 dollars in the US. The global pricing on this is hilarious and the device is essentially a Switch Pro, but with exclusive games.

When Sony drops the price of the PS5 and PS5 Pro post-GTA6, the Switch 2 is going to struggle to find a market in the west.

If this is Switch Pro then you are getting a LOT for your money vs. PS5 Pro:

PS5 Pro - 50% more GPU power, same CPU, almost the same memory (but faster) for 2x more money.
Switch 2 - 4x or more powerful GPU, much more powerful CPU (I don't know about exact numbers), 3x or more RAM for 40% more money.

Right now Nintendo is competing with Steam/Windows handhelds and not MS/Sony stationary consoles.
And unless you are a hardcore Nintendo fan this is a lost battle - Refurbished SD is approx. 330€, add to that no paid online and CD keys that can be gotten for pennies (I got Yakuza 0 sub-10€, Hogwarts was just on sale for 14.99€). So while in the past you had to buy Switch if you wanted to play Nintendo games AND/OR play the games portably, now only the first part still holds.

The hardware it self seems fine. The games are what was needed to sell this. 1st party was lacking greatly, it seems like Covid really set them back. Now DK could be great but there needs to be more. I'll pick one up at launch or around launch. I'm not going to stress getting this at release.

Your premise is faulty because it assumes that the Switch itself wasn't overpriced in this day and age, which it absolutely is.

Also PS5 Pro has 10% faster CPU capacity, you're also ignoring the additional 1TB of storage and upscaling.

Switch 2's price also has to account for the increase in game prices, increase in accessory prices, increase in storage prices...

Just stop this now. I'm asking you.

We will talk about that when Sony portable console arrives. THEN we can compare which one is more overpriced.
Goalpost moving roflmao.

I don't even get why people are comparing PS5 and Switch 2, those consoles are not competing directly. Right now Nintendo is competing with Steam/Windows handhelds and not MS/Sony stationary consoles. We know that MS and Sony will launch handhelds in the future.
Because:

A) All these consoles, streaming services, platform and handhelds etc are competing for your money and time.

B) Nintendo chose to merge their handheld and console lines into one, and thus the comparisons must happen to both of its addressable markets. Not just the one it's essentially monopolizing.

C) Nintendo is the only one that's upcharging massively on all their hardware offerings. The other players are taking losses or breaking even. Even with that, they're now charging the highest prices of all platform holders on 1P titles too! Massive ripoff.

And it is already chugging with 3rd party games during its reveal.

It's powerful for a portable device but not vs. 200+ Watt stationary machines.

Do the new joycons with bigger sticks get the fabled Hall Effect?
They did not mention it. I don't think any of the first Party console manufactures will ever embrace it. They hope your warranty runs out or go buy from a third party so they still make their percentage.
Pre order confirmed.
It seems the camera only zoomed in on faces, (In a bubble) I could be wrong but I bet Nintendo planned this out on purpose to avoid streakers. Otherwise they would not allow that camera.
Considering the headaches they had with that drawing/messaging app thing they had I would be shocked if you could do lude things with the camera.

Comparing a hybrid system to dedicated systems is not really apples to apples. Relative to performance per dollar this falls apart quickly.

Nintendo turned crazy, now you have to pay even for chat, expensive SD cards, games costing 80 or 90 euros, pricey controllers... Only three interesting launch titles, and the rest are mostly ports. On top of that, you even have to pay for the demo game "Welcome Tour," which should be free, like Astro's Playroom on the PS5. They're going to crash hard, just like what happened with the Vita and Wii U.

That depends - does the industry look at what Nintendo is doing and follow suit, or compete? You can make the argument other publishers are pricing their games cheaper, and then hit you up for DLC, season passes, etc which effectively raises the price. Or maybe they pull a Nintendo and raise the prices, but continue to ship incomplete games where you need to buy add-ons to get the full thing.

Strange that this piece of trash is getting zero pushback for its price while everyone on the internet was up in arms about the PS5 Pro. It goes to show that entire online campaign was astroturfed to hell.

Nintendo will %100 do DLC with the new Mario Kart.

They're essentially doing this with their Switch 2 editions of Switch 1 games.

They basically looked up every single trick in the anti-consumer book and copied it for this gen.

Pedos will draw faces on their dicks or some shit

£395? Day one and I'll probably get one for both me and my wife. Mario Kart looks amazing, Duskbloods is day one because Fromsoft and holy shit I wasn't expecting Donkey Kong.

Anyone thinking this is a dead system is fucking insane. This thing is going to sell like hot cakes.

I am sufficiently whelmed.

That's a little higher than expected which was 400. You basically pay one game's worth extra for the hardware.

Day 1 for Bravely Default HD Remaster.
This the only correct answer

Nothing looks good, a lot of ports, remasters and the only one worth a damn is that Bravely Default Remaster...

This is a day 1 for me too, but not a solid one, anyone can change, but day 1 for now.

Nintendo wants to continue dominate Japan. This must be the most favorable pricing for Japanese gamers since .... eternity?

Nintendo has proven that gameplay is stronger than specs. The pro didn't bring the games. Probably just a higher electricity bill. LOL

The price is disappointing in that it's close to PS5/XSX...but given we live in the times of the $700 ($800 with disc) PS5 Pro and expensive GPUs, it sucks to not be surprised.

At least the hardware choices are what I wanted:
  • Games actually targeting 120fps
  • 1080p on the go
  • Hdr on TV + portable is good
  • Mouse control support in a good amount of games, and like I thought PC-centric games like Civ actually using it.
