I always wait for a later model. At that point you'll have a nice game catalogue and it'll come without day-one issues.

If this is Switch Pro then you are getting a LOT for your money vs. PS5 Pro:

PS5 Pro - 50% more GPU power, same CPU, almost the same memory (but faster) for 2x more money.
Switch 2 - 4x or more powerful GPU, much more powerful CPU (I don't know about exact numbers), 3x or more RAM for 40% more money.

I'll buy at that price but I'm not all that happy about it. The Switch launched at £280 in the UK and this doesn't seem like that big of an upgrade.

Also, if the game card drm stuff means I can't sell purchased physical games then I'll likely not bother. Nintendo games are rarely discounted and I don't find value in buying a console for the 1 or 2 games a year that are actually worth the new $80 price tag. I have a PS5 Pro so I am only interested in worthy Nintendo 1st party games.

I play on PC and been holding on some Switch games (and even on continuing playing some I already finished and want 100%) because of TV resolution or only 30 fps, that for me is enough for purchase, I know newer games will come later so I have no rush.

Nintendo won't be meeting demand this year. No way this is getting a price decrease by October or November.

This is the successor of one of the biggest consoles ever. Even if it doesn't do Switch 1 numbers overall this first year will be crazy.

After Splatoon 3 and LoZ Echoes of Wisdom, my Switch has largely collected dust. Until there's a decent library of Switch 2 only games, I don't see the point in buying one.

Then the pricing hit. $500 for the bundle and $80 digital/$90 physical games? Nintendo can fuck all the way off. There is very little that Nintendo offers to make me willing to support them at these prices.

Edit: And I'd have to drop at least another $50+ on a microSD Express card because my existing 1TB microSD card won't be fast enough? For the total price of this I'd rather get a PS5 Pro.

So I went to the Switch 2 product page on Nintendo JP, and it looks like for their domestic market, they'll be offering 2 systems, which leads me to believe that CERO Switch 2 games won't be region locked, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.
