Looks like it still has the same shitty dpad too. I could barely tell the difference with the current one.
Omitting analoge controls is something I cannot accept as a serious gamer. I forgave them with S1, but playing a racing game is now almost impossible.

They don't even seem to give a F. That's funny because GameCube was built around analoge.

I just received news that the Switch 2 is region locked...

Can anybody confirm this?

- inflated prices. People's salaries haven't inflated. Wake up Nintendo.
- no analogue triggers so no serious racing games. Are they retarded?
- no option to remove borders on the side of NSO games. Who makes these decisions?
- A chat functionality that takes away almost 50% of your screen? Who makes these decisions?
- where are the damn first party games? Like WTF.
- this thing will be out of date much quicker than S1. 3rd party games are already struggling. This will be dead within 6 years.
- a fucking camera? What is this? 2003?
- No themes?
- The new Zelda audio snippets should be ingame instead of on your damn phone.
- That interactive Switch 2 Tutorial app should be free like Wii Sports. WTF are they thinking.

It's not a product for me. It wasn't at a lower price, but at almost €500, it's a SUPER NO for me.

The brilliant Gamecube will remain my last Nintendo console....🤷

So I went to the Switch 2 product page on Nintendo JP, and it looks like for their domestic market, they'll be offering 2 systems, which leads me to believe that CERO Switch 2 games won't be region locked, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.
  • Switch 2 JP Only: 49,980 Yen
  • Switch 2 Global: 69,980 Yen (only sold through My Nintendo Store)

So it sounds that the Japanese version is locked only to Japanese titles but Global should be able to place world wide.

It's only overpriced if the market rejects it. This is business 101…. Its not rejected and it's value is clearly there.
Diehard Nintendo fans will purchase it regardless, even if it came with no launch games.

That has no saying on the general gaming audience.

Your premise is faulty because it assumes that the Switch itself wasn't overpriced in this day and age, which it absolutely is.

Also PS5 Pro has 10% faster CPU capacity, you're also ignoring the additional 1TB of storage and upscaling.

Switch 2's price also has to account for the increase in game prices, increase in accessory prices, increase in storage prices...

Just stop this now. I'm asking you.
It has a high price but its very clearly not a "Pro". It's a successor.

Day one for me. Trade in the Lite and it's $350/$400 if I do bundle version.

Seems perfect because I get TOTK at a reduced price for 4k 60fps as my initial game to play, Metroid prime 4 I want, the duskbloods game next year, Mario kart at launch, and the new donkey kong game looks incredible.

I don't need 20 things to play at once. Plus I can begin work on the Xenoblade titles as well.

Amazing work by Nintendo IMO.

It's THE Switch 2 but Nintendo is pushing all it's consumer good will with that price, the "upgrade packs" backward compatibility, no analogue triggers, the 70 to 80 USD games, the paid "manual" game, etc.

Too many silly decisions that I wouldn't like to see in a console launch.

I sincerely want it to have a bad launch just to "adjust" the attitude. Although it's almost impossible to happen.

Dude, its probability of market success is higher than its probability to fail.

Switch is the top selling console. This will sell very well right behind it.

Yeah, just like PS3 was the top selling console after PS2, and just like Xbox One was the top selling console after the Xbox 360.

No.

Besides MK and MP it's all AA niche games like Donkey Kong and Mario Party.
I wouldn't say Donkey Kong or Pokemon are niche. Will be interesting to see what Legend ZA runs like on Switch 2 and if it's as buggy as Scarlet / Violet.

Pokemon is obviously not niche, but DK not selling more than 3 million is niche to me (within Nintendo context).

Pokemon looked a LOT better on S2 but it should be at least 60fps or they can go F themselves.

I didn't say top, I said it would sell well. PS3 sold damn well by the end. Xbox made dumb decisions and lost their market. Nintendo isn't switching up anything.

The price of the console is still cheaper then ps5, the games on all systems will be more expensive anyways. It's going to sell well, again, probability of success is higher than failure for their formula.

That's some pretty scummy shit. I understand wanting to protect against scalpers but there has to be a better way than "we're only giving opportunities to our biggest loyalists who gave us lots of money".
"Over time, the selection criteria thresholds may be lowered and more people could be invited to pre-order a Nintendo Switch 2 console. Throughout, we will remain focussed on prioritising the most dedicated Nintendo Switch players (while stocks last)."

Also NSO is like $19.99 a year. I guess you could complain that they are prioritising online over offline gamers.

Not changing enough and price gouging your customers doesnt seem to be doing them any favors either.

Donkey Kong sold 6.5 million on the Wii, I think this game could hit similar numbers or better. This is likely from the Mario Odyssey team.

Nothing is certain. The Wii was also the top selling console. Look at what happened with the Wii U.

Wii U had shit messaging from the start, it was confusing from a marketing standpoint. This is not, again this is a game of probability and the probability is higher than failure this will be a success.

GBA, 2001 introductory price $100. Adjusted to inflation: $180
Nintendo DS, 2004 introductory price $150. Adjusted to inflation: $245
Nintendo 3DS, 2011 introductory price $250. Adjusted to inflation: $354
Nintendo switch, 2017 introductory price $300. Adjusted to inflation: $390
switch 2: $450

They keep getting greedier and I don't understand how kids can convince their parents.
Edit: Or maybe it's not greed. They keep creating more expensive machines. But the question remains: How do kids convince their parents?

True. Nintendo have made it very clear this is a new console. However, I think the cost of the games will be just too much for the causal market and families. They'll be put off by the cost of games and question why they need to upgrade their Switch. We should also consider the current economic climate. I'm not sure if your in the UK, but here we've just seen every bill you can think of go up. Not to mention the cost of food has increased massively. People have a lot less disposable income now.

Yeah I think I'm going to hold off for now. I just can't justify dropping over 600 bucks ($530 (tax included) + another 80 for the pro controller) to play some Mario Kart. There's no other launch games I care about and I'm not interested in replaying BOTW anytime soon (the upgrade path is probably also going to be overpriced). The $80 games is another stinger.

Will probably hold off until 2026+ unless they show off a new Mario and its truly on another level. Like I'm talking actual Super Mario Bros. 5 another level.

I will be pre-ordering soon as it is up and grab a few accessories. Hopefully there are enough poors not being able to buy it to make room for my pre-order. :messenger_kissing_smiling:

The regular Switch was overpriced, Switch 2 is overpriced. Simple actually
Even if it wasn't. Let's say the Switch 1 was priced ok. Nintendo haven't cut the prices of that damn thing. It Still cost $300 and $350. Saw the OLED for $340 last week in Amazon. Let's forget if the hardware was underpowered or whatever when it launched. 8 years and not even a $50 price cut. The Switch 2 is $100 more and it's more powerful sure but the Switch 1 was released 8 years ago.
