32GB and 720p..... in 2016
only Nintendo
What are you expecting?
I'm not even a Nintendo fanboy, but if you were expecting anything more than this for a reasonable price of entry, quite frankly you're deluded and misinformed.

why does it have to be cheap????
U
i dont get this everytime. if its powerful, it can be pricey. or reasonable priced.
have a look at the fucking iphone. in germany it sells like shitcakes and people arent bothered about the abysmal price.

This dream will not end until Nintendo spells it out for us or someone finally gets the dock, opens it and sees that there's only AC in and HDMI out in there.
People expect 4K 60fps with PS4 levels of power and storage of 256GB like iPhone. They want a combination of specs from deviced priced with 500 to 900 bucks. And don't forget it has to keep the portability and the almost no cooling system.
They just don't make fucking sense.
I don't really understand how anyone could possibly know how good the battery life is at this point. Dev kits are usually wired, and I doubt very much that any devs have received prototype retail units at this point.
I'm with the Nintendo fans on this one.
Full PS4 performance in a thin tablet with great battery life and cheap consumer pricing is entirely possible in early 2017.
Make it happen Nintendo. We're sure you can do it.

This post deserves the ridicule.
) 32 GB storage (Max transfer 400 ...bt Nintendo will use highspeed memory though.
I'd take 720p over 1080p on a handheld any time of the day if that'd give me 20-30% more battery life.32GB and 720p..... in 2016

I was expecting some kind of upgrade from the docking station so you would get 1080p on TV

That might still happen in terms of a upclock when it's docked. It also might not as it would complicate matters for relatively little gain.
Those specs seem fine for a tablet. I don't get what all the hubbub is about. It's a tablet, for gaming.
I'm not sure what people are expecting. They want powerful + cheap + good battery life?
but the problem is that we are supposed to be having nintendo's next home console, not a portable tablet.
I don't think people will have a problem with modest (or mediocre) hardware if it's entirely a nintendo handheld, we would understand. it is portable and needs battery life, besides, on small screens everything looks small, so whatever.
but a home console that may (or will very likely) struggle with basic things that are standards in 2016 is definitely discouraging.
Im curious what the speeds are when this is docked.

I call this bullshit...my cellphone is more powerful than that.

32GB base storage is fine, don't forget it will be possible to expand the storage via microSD/SD card and I suspect the dock will have a usb port for an external HDD.
And no one has said that isn't the case lol.

Nintendo did.
Upclocking is the only thing we can hope for.

So why are people still take her seriously?
If people keep bringing up PC/PS4/X1 HDD storage space as arguments then you need to compare it only to when the Switch is docked. The dock will likely have USB ports and let users use USB externals as that's Nintendo's philosophy on storage. It's fine for a portable and games designed for portables, but ports of existing (and future) PS4/One/PC titles are going to range from 25GB to 100GB. A 256GB SD card is an additional $150 automatically added to the MSRP. Installs probably won't be mandatory so this will be less of an issue, but not many people will be using this as a digital-only console.
Where? People are discussing this rumor here in this thread and even that says the Switch can output 1080p to a TV albeit video.Nintendo did.

Well Nintendo said this is a home console first and foremost. It does not replace 3DS. Therefore being able to played in HD on television is a major priority.A 720p screen on that portable is enough. Games are going to look great on there.
It does not need 1080p.
4 gig of memory is also enough for portable gaming. The big question is just how capable is that GPU.
We're talkin about Nintendo here. No sony. Nintendo cares about compression and space management even if they fucked up storage space before.32GB seems small when you consider how large PATCHES are today, let alone full games.
good luck to anyone going digital only. start stocking up on those SD cards.
Is it possible that the Switch games allow dynamic resolution change, so they can toggle between 720p/540p and 1080p depending on which display you're using?

What makes Switch any different than nvidia Shield?
Both handhelds, both output signal to TV. All this secrecy for a tablet? Switch experience can be imitated simply by tethering a controller to a tablet.
The way Nintendo kept silent I expected bigger innovation from them, some AR/VR tech, new ways to interact with games. Switch is nothing really special.
