I honestly 100% am expecting to see Nintendo vs Capcom now and will be completely disappointed and in rage if it doesnt show Thursday

Imagine if they pulled off a Soul Calibur Gamecube stunt where there was a Nintendo character included exclusively for the Switch version of Marvel vs Capcom Infinite

Well right now the rumors point to the Switch supporting Micro SD cards vs regular sized. A quick look at some pricing yielded the following:

128Gb card - $40
200Gb card - $60
256Gb card - $180

Depending on the memory size needed for standard Switch games, those options may or may not get you very far. There's also the idea of how they might handle Micro SD card support, as often times they need to "mount" onto your internal storage to be used. That means you can't simply swap around SD cards like you could game cartridges.

I forgot this as well. I think it comes down to price. If they were to offer a 128 GB Switch card for anything less than $40 I would for sure be going with it since I'm used to swapping cartridges all the time.

I just reserved myself to the reality of Capcom only doing Street Fighter & Marvel vs. Capcom as far as fighting games go for the foreseeable future. If they go beyond those two would be a pleasant surprise for me, but their internal fighting game studios are all pretty much busy. As mentioned earlier, they could outsource to Eighting, but I think they still have that VR fighting game in the works. Plus Niitsuma, who helmed the Eighting team for the MvC3 games, is now at a different branch of Capcom.

Are you talking about Soul Calibur 2? There was an exclusive character for every platform. Link for GC. Heihachi for PS2. And of course that beloved Xbox character that everyone thinks of when they think Xbox: Spawn.

Jumping further down the rabbit hole here... What if they sold 128 Gb carts that came with a coupon for digital games? Something like 20% off your next purchase.

How much would a hypothetical game storage cartridge that can store multiple games cost though? I really don't think we want another proprietary storage mess like with the Vita.

The 3DS, the DSi, and the Wii used SD Cards just fine. No "mounting" required.

How pissy would early adopters be if they held off a deluxe edition with a pack-in for the holidays? I'm going to buy day 1 and I won't particularly care, but this is the kind of thing that seems to genuinely infuriate a lot of people around here.

I feel like they might just release a bare bones SKU on day 1 then maybe have a Switch + Pokémon or Spla2n pack-in for the same price to blow the doors off of the holiday season.

Given the common scarcity of Nintendo hardware, do they NEED to entice people with a packed in game to sell out in the beginning? I dunno. I don't think so. I think this product has legs and it's going to do well regardless of whether they have a pack in day 1 or not.

That part I'm not sure of! No idea what tech they're using, but it definitely couldn't be more than a Micro SD card of the same size. I don't think many would view this as a proprietary storage mess if it were simply an option in addition to Micro SD. As I said, I'm just throwing ideas at the wall and I never suggested it had to be one or the other. They could allow both with ease.

As for your second comment, I suppose "mounting" is the wrong term here. I meant to say that you just couldn't take an SD card out of one 3DS and start using it on another with no setup.

Well more than likely we will get some sort of software at launch as a back in. Besides anyone who follows the industry knows that there is always going to be a "better" package down the road for a system, regardless of which company it is. You just gotta jump in when you are ready/feel comfortable

Exactly my point I made a long time ago. Cost of Micro SD for decent sized storage (For someone who wants to go digital or patch the big AAA games) is insane. This becomes not a $250 console, but potentially a $400+ console that's weak as shit compared to other $400 consoles. They did this with the Wii U and that was expensive to start with.

If these are the real prices and we're stuck with 32GB in the Switch as standard then it says to me that Nintendo are targetting small handheld type games. This is NOT a home console and certainly not a console that's wanting the big AAA games.

A premium/deluxe/pro/+/etc edition would be silly.
If they're anticipating huge demand.
What they need to do is just make the same thing over and over again off the conveyor belt.

PS4 and Xbox One proved that you can just release one sku at launch and be successful.

I hope Splatoon is a packin. The playerbase will then migrate to the switch more easily.

I think it would be incredibly smart of them to put Splatoon as a pack-in. A new 3D Mario & the new Zelda will have a high attach to new Switch sales anyways. Better to pack in their new IP and make SURE everyone on Switch gets a chance to experience that IP before Splatoon 2 inevitably comes out.

No way there is no game bundled in. Ps4 and xbone have them, if Nintendo does not why buy a 249$€ switch when you can get a ps4 with uncharted or a xbox with halo/gears of war etc.

It's probably splatoon switch.

I find it hard to believe the Switch will come with 32GB internal storage.

Nintendo KNOWS how big digital is today. 32GB isn't even enough to buy to AAA games on day 1. Would they really put so little? Maybe it'll be 64 GB atleast?

Or can third party devs make their games smaller for the Switch somehow? I still believe there will be a Cloud service to put your games on.

You know it might sound crazy, but wouldn't it be something else if the "Switch" version of Pokemon Sun and Moon was actually more like an expansion?

The game references Johoto Region ALOT and a specific character ends up going there at the end of the game...

I could see it taking you back to the original islands. It would also be the first 3D remake of the region also.

I know it is extremely unlikely, but you never know....

In all honestly the thing I'm most excited to see is the OS, such a silly thing but I really want to see what the home screen looks like. Anyone think Miiverse et al. make a return? How do you all feel about Mii's?

32Gb is fairly standard as the "entry level" memory size for flash storage in a mobile device like this. Many other devices (tablets, phones) charge a premium of at least $50 to $100 for the next memory size up.

Extra storage, either by re-installing a bigger HDD, adding an external HDD, or getting a bigger memory card has become a required cost in this day and age. It sucks but it is what console/handheld makers have to do to keep the entry prices down.

The Wii U wasn't a home console either I suppose.

Yeah that is was turned me of the wii u was how slow and janky it was.

Rating pending on a game with a finished looking label? A re-writable memory option that takes up the slot for games? I'm gonna file this one under no.

Though... the latter would be a unique solution to the memory woes I've been harping on about. Download and save your games to a re-writable memory card that can store more than one title. That would be an interesting and possibly excellent supplement to having Micro SD cards for storage.

So 3 way storage?

Yeah, but we're playing full fledged video games on this thing. It's a dedicated video game machine. People will cry that they won't buy it because all they do is buy digital and one day one they can't even buy a AAA game or two digitally because there's not enough memory on the system.

Gotta say I'm not a huge digital guy when it comes to retail titles, but I do download a BUNCH of smaller eShop stuffs so I think that'd be a pretty nice deal for even me. That'd be a pretty terrific value I think.

But I dunno if they'd even do it. It seems like it would have broad appeal, again if the price is right.

I'm sick and tired of Miis, but let's be honest they aren't going anywhere man.

What I'm most concerned about is, how fucking fast / slow the U.I. will be. Nintendo really need to get their shit together. Take some notes from Sony, and how fast, responsive & smartly organized the PS4 U.I. is laid out. Fuck Wii U & it's shitty user interface!

Miiverse will stay. Miis will stay. They'll be the only -ii's that will carry over from the Wii (U) days.

I still think Miitomo will let you customize your Switch Mii. At least I hope so. Got some cool jackets I want my mii to wear.

So 3 way storage?

What do you mean by 3 way? As in internal + Micro SD + game cart? I don't know if it'll actually happen but I'm failing to think of a reason that it physically wouldn't work so far!

I see your point, but people complaining won't make the tech any cheaper. Just like people wanting Switch to be a PS4 won't make that viable in a portable.

I honestly dont want a pack in if the price can be lower.

I do know if there is no pack in, and its 250, gaf gonna be crying that all night

Please, unless the system comes out at $199 with Splatoon, joycons, and a pro controller, someone here will be complaining.

In all honestly the thing I'm most excited to see is the OS, such a silly thing but I really want to see what the home screen looks like. Anyone think Miiverse et al. make a return? How do you all feel about Mii's?

I hope we see an updated version of Miis, but I would love to see them return. If they are back, so is Miiverse. I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo re brands them.

Are people here thinking this will really be a cross platform system? I doubt it for most stuff that is fine though. As long as we can get solid nintendo titles at a quicker pace and the odd platform specific game I will be more than happy.

So did the Wii.

Those were some crazy times last gen.

I remember watching on the news showing shutters opening at some department store and people diving under it like they're playing Mirrors Edge.

Any objections?

If we have Marvel we got all marvel and Sonic crossover was already announced for switch

This. And including an online-centric shooter as the pack-in would signal an openness towards new ideas from Nintendo, and suggest maybe they'll care a bit more about their online strategy this go around.

Seems crazy but would be a nice gesture to bridge the gap in storage for those who want it

I work at a grocery store and every year we get a craft beer in stock that sends people in a frenzy looking for it. It is frustrating but I know that it is nothing compared to a crazy soccer mom looking for the latest video game console for their whinny kid a week before Christmas.
