Nintendo Switch |DT2| No excellent soul is exempt from a mixture of madness

Which of these definitely """real""" leaks are you most hyped for?

I doubt Mario Switch and BotW will have the same impact as their N64 counterparts though.
Yeah I'm sure as well, but mainline Mario and Zelda are for the most part consistently very good. Having 2 high quality titles in nintendos biggest series at launch is enough for me and a lot of others for a strong launch line up.

I'm doubting Mario and Zelda will both be there launch day. I think Zelda launch and Mario in a few months, despite both potentially being playable

I'm looking forward to the show tonight.

I'm still pretty positive that Mario isn't going to be a launch game. I said in the past that Zelda would definitely launch with the system, and I'm positive that's still the case.

I'm not sure that Splatoon, Mario Kart and Smash Bros. will find their way to launch day. Out of those three, I think Mario Kart stands a better chance of coming out with the system. That game has historically been a system seller for the company.

I do believe that Pokemon rumor is true. I believe that they're going to show the game, and my gut is telling me that it's going to be a launch game.

Launching with Zelda, Pokemon and Mario Kart seems smart.
  • Breath of the Wild is the big console game
  • Pokemon is the big handheld game
  • Mario Kart is the big multiplayer game
It also helps that all three of those games have the capacity to move a lot of hardware.

Zelda very well could.

Ocarina of Time was very much A Link to the Past's core structure and content translated into 3D, and it was well-received in its day. But Breath of the Wild is far more ambitious. It's not just a translation of existing content to a new format; it's, as the original Zelda was in its day, an adaptation of a popular genre (and the same one, even: open-world action RPGs) with a Nintendo twist.
I hope we will have our first nonlinear 3D Zelda. I'm just saying: don't count your chickens before they've hatched.

I'm expecting a conservative show. Nintendo won't show much beyond launch - aside from a few teases, and third-party support will be an interesting thing to observe. Outside of SEGA, Capcom, Namco, and Square Enix, curious to see what happens. Don't expect Skyrim to be a launch game, and I hope Nintendo surprises with new IP and doesn't focus too much on Wii U to Switch ports. Those are my predictions.

Thanks man.

I agree with you. I think third party support will be the most telling thing at the conference.

I don't really trust 4chan leaks but i'm trying to not get excited for a new Super Bomberman to only be let down hard. That would be such an incredible multiplayer game for Switch. The only other obscure game that would get me excited would be Culdcept.

Overall as a launch window list that leak list is pretty darn good, I don't see what people's problem with it is except they really weren't interested in the Switch to begin with. I would love, LOVE Disgaea 5 on the Switch and portable. That's how I love my Disgaea games ever since Vita. My only regret is finally breaking down and buying that damn game and DLC during the PSN sales a couple weeks ago. Now i'm going to possibly get a Switch version and the one I just bought for PS4 will never be touched. gg NIS, GfuckingG

Well there's a difference between Pokémon mainline games and sidegames. I too expect a Pokémon game at or near launch, but it's not gonna be Pokémon Stars. That'd be too soon.

Could you summarize out for people without high speed internet while working?

-it'll be a good conference
-fans might be expecting too much
-focus will be on the launch and launch window line up as well as pricing and what the hardware offers (multi-touch, IR, joy cons, etc.)
-zelda confirmed for launch
-mario confirmed for launch (speculation)
-mario kart within the first 30 days
-splatoon in may or early june
-mario kart and splatoon won't be major focuses of the conference
-new IP at launch
-tease future projects (mentions Pikmin, Metroid, Donkey Kong, and Monolith Soft's new game)
-$249 basic/$299 deluxe
-show ~9 of their own games, most of which will release during the launch window
-doesn't know what to expect from 3rd parties
-thinks we'll see stuff from capcom, namco, and sega
-western titles won't be a major focus
-doesn't think skyrim will be a launch game because zelda
-interested to see what square enix does, announced support early

I'm so worried I won't get a preorder. I got lucky with the Mini NES on launch day. Might go in to work late tomorrow just so I can wait outside gsmestop.

Thankfully I have a GameStop 2 min down the street from me and I live in west coast so it will still be open after the conference to hopefully get a preorder in :)

Anybody plan to leave the office/school a little early today?

Leave today? No that would just prolong my suffering.

However, I took tomorrow off so I can stay up and watch it and the following coverage without repercussion as well as so I can get to Gamestop as soon as it opens to plop down a pre-order.

Take that leaked lineup. Add Lego city undercover (yeah, re-release but I'm not gonna pretend like more than 300 people worldwide have played it) and possibly Skyrim and you've got, what, like 6 games that are likely going to metacritic 85+?

They don't really need anything else to make it the best launch lineup ever. Seriously. If you look at that lineup and are disappointed, you were never remotely interested in Nintendo to begin with.

If you were lucky enough to snatch that thing at all, you'll be just fine getting in that pre-order as well.

I got so swept up in the hype of lining up for a pre-order tomorrow morning, I forgot I have an important doctor's appointment I can't miss....

Gonna see if my wife would be down to standing in line with my friend in my place!
