I am interested in the Switch

Mainly to play Zelda, new Mario, Bloodstained

Do you advise purchasing now or await a price reduction?

A price reduction doesn't seem to be in the cards for foreseeable future, if it keeps going this well.

Maybe added value via bundles for Christmas time.

And why would I want them?
Dammit I wanna buy MK Deluxe Edition but I'm super bummed about my fucking joy con controller breaking. The right analog stick broke off lol! Is something like that covered under a Nintendo warranty of some sort?

After playing like 6 hours of the Puyo Puyo Tetris demo and roughly the same amount of Bomberman, I agree with this.

I'm very surprised by how much I like the D buttons.
They're just so precise! I can't remember the last time I needed to roll the d-pad in a game (which hurt my thumb anyway). Maybe for fighting games, but then why can't you use a mix of the analogue and d pad? Maybe that's what games already do.

I think they're pretty good as well, but I'm not sure how they'll cope with a proper 2d fighting game, but then even the best D-pad isn't ideal for that style of game either (just a lot better than your average thumb stick)

I keep seeing people asking about cases, so I figured I'd throw in my two cents. I bought the Mario version of this PDP case and I really like it!

For reference, I used this case to bring my Switch to and from work on a day to day basis. Essentially a scenario in which I know I won't need extra controllers or the ability to charge the console. For actual traveling, I use the case that came with the Master Edition of Zelda. It's a bit gaudy, but I'm not really using it as a fashion statement anyway.

See my post at the top of this page for my impression of the Orzly case. Reviews are great on it so I'm thinking I may have received a bad one? Not sure. Overall it wasn't for me.

This case straps the console in so I don't imagine it would move about too much inside. Of course once you stick in cables and stuff then it'll fill in some space. I won't be using it every day. Just need something to sit it in while I am in the car or it is in my backpack.

ok, so i took the Switch out of its dock this morning. it had been charging all night. it said 100% battery life. i turned it off completely, not sleep mode. i just got it out of my bag to play and it says 65%

wtf is going on????

I should get my joycons sent in to Nintendo before MK8 comes out. Held off over Easter because the kids were playing Zelda a lot but we can live with just the pro controller for a while

Maybe it was activated inside your bag? One time I set my phone down and the touch screen was activated by a metal stylus and stayed on the entire time.

Really? I think it's great. Nice and big!
In Zelda BOTW sometimes I hit one side, for example right to change weapon, and it activates the adjacent sides like down or up instead.

Haven't played a game that uses the d-pad for motion though. So maybe my judgement is too harsh and early.

If they are as slow as here in the UK you're way too late. I sent my joycon in 6 working days ago and they only just started inspecting it today. In fact they have replaced it. Who knows when I'll get it back. Probably not into next week. I thought I'd be done with Zelda by now but hardly got started so I'm in no rush for MK8.

Don't hurt me everyone...

Okay? No one's going to hurt anyone?

So....*edges behind a conveniently placed boulder*

........I like the non-d-pad better than traditional d-pads too.

I felt the same way too after playing 20 hours of Shovel Knight.

But then I booted up Specter Knight on my PC with an Elite controller and had all those silly thoughts erased.

Not sure if this is the case you bought, but this one is great.

No place for extra joycons, grips or small powerbank/cables..

I just cancelled my left gray Joy-con order as I realized the yellow Joy-cons are only going to get sold as a pair. Bummer

Same. I don't get why so many people care about d-pads and yeah I have played fighting games just fine.

replacement shells have started popping up on eBay, and they even appear to have the fcc logos and stuff. you could grab a grey pair and then buy a green shell for one of them.

Call me terrible but I played through Shovel Knight and Specter Knight using just the analog sticks... Normally I'd want a D-pad for games like that, but the height of the stocks on Switch just felt right.

In my case I would normally be inclined to get a pro controller because it's the type of controller I'm used to, but I don't want to be over-burdened with accessories this time around (Wii accessories for me were out of control). Two sets of joy-cons was a no brainer for me once I actually got playtime with them and realized they were good enough for everything I would be using them for. It was either going to be a set of joy-cons and a pro controller or two sets of joy-cons. Ultimately I went with the latter and I'm very happy with the decision, as I essentially have 4 controllers over 3.

Another huge thing for me is that I will rarely have to worry about battery life for my controllers with the Switch. I always have one set connected to the Switch while docked, and another set near the couch for playing on the tv. Even if one of them dies while I'm playing, I just swap them for the ones connected to the Switch. It's not even a concern of mine, and that's worth so much to me. The only time I'll have to think about it is if I'm going to be using all controllers at once (which will only happen from time to time), but even in that case I'll just swap the joy-cons out the night before and then have a full charge ready for both sets for the next day.

I'm in the UK :/

But live in windsor so I could pop round :p

Trouble is my joycons start playing up after a couple of hours off the switch (both left and right). Can't really justify a spare pair either - have a pro controller which is enough for Mario Kart

Any protips for purchasing a Switch that don't involve getting bent over by a reseller or stalking retail employees at this point? Hah

Needed a minimalist case that would fit in my portfolio that I bring to work. The typical clamshell designs are too bulky and I only need room for the switch and some headphones for me to play during my 1-1.5 hr lunch. Grabbed the waterfield switch pouch (waxed canvas) and am in love with the thing. Pricey for what it is, but fits my needs perfectly and is really sexy. Unfortunately now I've been looking at other waterfield products and I'm probably going to buy something really expensive because I like the quality and look of their bags/cases so much.

Sign up for phone and email alerts on sites like nowinstock and zoolert. You'll be notified within a minute of the systems going online. From there it's just a question of how fast you can checkout!

It was completely off using the power button on top of the device when I put it in the bag this morning. When I took it out, it was still completely powered off and I had to turn it on with the power button, not just wake it with the Home button. So it's either losing charge when completely off (which shouldn't happen) or the system is severely misreporting battery life.

Honestly this case keeps the Switch snug, but doesn't depress buttons, as well as the under side triggers the case has indents so they are not pressed as well. Only case I saw like this, and it is semi hard (ladies) and perfect.

Is it pretty easy to take the Joycon shells off and put others on? I'd love to make some custom ones.

Yes, it's quite easy as long as you take thing slow. I've replaced two pairs of greys with aftermarket shells and they fit in great.

You can also buy replacement grips if you want to paint those too.

Did Pocket Rumble get canceled or something?

No, the devs mentioned the other day that the initial launch date was a miscommunication and it was harder for them to iron out the bugs than they thought it would be.

Anyone else preorder PuyoPuyo from Amazon? It says "delivery date pending" for me. (MK8 comes out after and that has a set, clear delivery date.)

I have a feeling they're gonna mess this up. I need those keychains. :S

Thank you, I must have missed that. Really looking forward to that one.

Amazon has been fucking up so much lately. If it helps, BB seems to carry the keychain edition as well: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/puyo-puyo-tetris-launch-edition-nintendo-switch/5730101.p?skuId=5730101

Same here on my end. Waiting for a delivery date update.

How? 😳
I had reward points available. :) I waited and waited for the controller to be in stock on Amz for that reason.
