I've seen people on Reddit complaining and getting $75 off their order for it not arriving at launch. Might be worth a shot to raise a fuss.
I'm in that same boat. I chatted with Amazon and they said they'll contact the carrier to speed up the shipping and extend my prime by one month. Not really believing either at the moment. Last time I pore-order something like this from amazon.

Need advice. My Zelda special edition is still marked as preparing to ship.... for arrival today by 8PM. I'm going out to pick up some more items at Best Buy and try to snag a pro controller.
I'm getting Zelda today, regardless of Amazon's incompetence, but not sure how to handle this. Buy Zelda, then return it when my special edition comes? Is there any chance of getting a special edition somewhere else and return the Amazon one when it comes?

My Amazon order shipped but with a delivery date for Monday. I delivered it to work too so I won't be able to get it until Tuesday now. Maybe I can hunt down the UPS guy and have him give it to me. Or I'll ask him today if he has anything for my work to bring it to the house since it's the same route.

You can't return the special edition as the regular edition because it has different box art and UPC code.

My Neon console just arrived from Amazon via UPS.

Oh wow I thought about buying digital for Zelda since I have eShop credit but decided just to get physical. Free same day delivery so I should be getting it today. I couldn't even order the Switch version since it went out of stock before.
yeah just contacted Amazon to make sure as i had the same happen with my PS4 that was preordered the first day preorders were available. They told me my order is getting delivered today by the amazon fulfillment center which is a hour away from me. as my order switched to shipping now early this morning. As i would have thought so people who have shipping by 8pm there's still hope.

Hey, ask which facility your order is currently at. Moreso, ask for the last location of the last shipping update. If it's within your city, get the contact for that facility, call and ask for the supervisor. Explain your situation and see if you can't do a pick up there directly. Be polite but firm

Amazon has several distribution centers in my city and they usually use their own delivery service when doing same day. I know they give out free same day when you hit a certain price point.

So there's all kinds of screwiness here. So now that I have a tracking number, I can see this:
So...the saga continues. I'm going to put about 20% odds that this thing actually shows up today.
Meanwhile, my pro controller has been out for delivery for a while (it's coming from Best Buy) and should be here any time now.
So it seems like something is going on here, and the tracking is several hours behind. Talking to Amazon on the phone just now, they told me that it is still scheduled to be shipped by 8pm today, but the status was updated to show that tomorrow would be the guaranteed delivery if it doesn't get delivered today. Which is still bullshit but basically means it's not 100% not coming today. They told me they would keep tracking the item's status and as soon as USPS updates their tracking to show that they have the item, they can request that it be expedited and delivered today.
So...the saga continues. I'm going to put about 20% odds that this thing actually shows up today.
Meanwhile, my pro controller has been out for delivery for a while (it's coming from Best Buy) and should be here any time now.

Just got off the phone with Amazon. What a waste of time. Will never preorder again. Canceled the order. This morning I was told I would definitely have it today. Then that story changed to Monday. Ridiculous
