Nintendo Xenoblade Chronicle 3 Direct Announced for June 22

although I guess it isn't really the full game it's going to be until the final DLC is released by January 1 2024.
Well according to direct last DLC is going to be released in Dec 31, 2023 and even without Torna XC2 meaty game, I expect same thing with XC3.

I'm 90% sure similar to Blade, Heroes will have their own quests and affinity chart or skill tree.

Yeah I think it will be like that too. Heroes really are like rare blades from a core crystal.

I just the content is not too much. Xenoblade 1 have almost 500 side quest, it was a pain lol

btw, Collectopedia is back, you can see it at the bottom right. Oh no....
Nah you can skip that stuff if it's not appealing to you. The better a big jrpg adventure is, the more optional stuff it should have so it has a longer life. What bothers me is that lots of cool stuff I got to play with on my first playthrough in XC2 won't be there in XC3 for years. I had Elma and Corvin and all the challenge modes and costumes and stuff on my first playthrough, plus whatever patches they used to make it perform better after launch. And I can't possibly resist the longing to play it at launch day, I'm way too hype.

As for holding off on XC2 until last year, I hesitated for a long time because I was worried it might actually be bad lol. Opinions are split on the game even now even though it's amazing, I really couldn't get a good read on it by listening to everyone's takes, which I can usually kind of mix together to get a good idea of the truth. But after XCX and 1 and 2 all being fantastic I gotta be there day 1 for 3.

Monolith Soft earn my trust enough that I buy any of their game day one regardless what reviews it gets and what anybody else think of the game.

And majority of loud criticism against XC2 is "bla bla anime bla bla…." Which to me is none issue and If someone is not in to "anime" what the hell are they doing playing Xeno games.

Unironically, all of JRPGs are anime, or rather anime experiences.

They aren't anime because they aren't just normal videos that you can't play, but the way narrative in most of them work, how characters behave, and interact with each other, regardless of artstyle, and yeah, how Japanese voice actors usually deliver their lines - for all intents, and purposes, this is a genuine anime experience.

IMO, the only reason why, for instance, JRPG series like Final Fantasy seem more western, it is because outside Japan most people play with English audio, and language itself can change the overall feel of the game.

Probably the best example of this was the English dub of Final Fantasy XII, where English voice actors made the characters seem like out of some classic play, and it was wonderful for what it was, but on the other side, in original, Japanese version, they simply were never like that.

To put it simply, if you dislike anime, don't even bother with Xeno series, or pretty much any other JRPG.

I've been watching some reaction of the direct, some more things that I found. I really impressed by the cloth/hair physics. Even in the simple cutscene, Mio's hair sways perfectly.

The "monado" arms on Noah looks really similar to the armor of the Mr. Wild Ride team.

Yeah lot if people mentioning this game has lot of reference to Xenogears.

My biggest takeaway from this trailer is Guernica Vandham mentioning what Sword March is. Its a city. Himself and the residents there are obviously not bound to this artificially induced 10 year lifespan. Maybe this city is the original kingdom that Rex, Shulk, or both of them established before things started going awry.

I highly recommend everyone play Future Connected, or at least brush up on the story before playing this. Just a theory, but I have a sneaking suspicion it will be pretty important to the plot of 3.

It was built on cut content, but it's a new story that technically takes place in the world of 3. I don't think the new enemy/concept they introduced was just a throwaway idea they didn't plan to revisit. I have a pretty decent theory how it all ties together.

I'm confused... how old are the main characters then? They look 16/17-ish

I just hope the sound of combat isn't as atrocious as XC2. It was just this cacophony of people yelling shit over one another. I feel sorry for all the roommates, wives, and girlfriends who had to listen to it.

They are test tube babies i presume. They don't begin consciousness and get released from their pod until their bodies has matured to a certain level.
Yea I haven't seen that talked about much. Does seem that people are literally mass produced in pods, hell, one of those ouroborous dudes even says "we can just grow more". This game is looking to have some very dark themes. Can't wait.

This game feels weird to me... I enjoyed both prior games (and X), however the only thing this direct did was make me not want to play it.

I don't know if it's the characters or the design or what... the theatre setting for the bad guys sure didn't help I know that.

This one though just is not doing it for me, I think im going to wait and see this time rather than buying the CE like last time.

I'm not just trolling here, this just looks really disappointing to me.

I want to see how the people of Sword March live. Gonna be "The World Tree" all over again. It would be nice 8f tradition Blade and Driver Bonding still existed in the world as well as Titans birthing Core Crystals

That's unfortunate you don't like what you're seeing. I felt that way about Xenoblade X. On the plus side at least that's one less person I have to compete with for a collector's edition.

Iirc, doesn't Melia

make an omnious statement about the rift and the future of what's to come...🤔

They did a bad job explaining it, but I think what was implied is they have 10 years once they start their service. So there's probably an age when they're officially drafted.
There is a big theory that most people in Xenoblade 3 are artificially made…basically clones.

The theater type scenes and the reddish/pink group (not sure what those people are called) is very Xenogears. Hell, one dude reminds me of Grahf with his helmet.

Artistically, I don't see how this looks crazy different than XBC2 or the recently updated XBC1.

I myself love that theatre framing, the whole vibe of Xenoblade 3 is really getting me super excited.

Riiiiiiight! Xenoblade 3 no longer has fusion combo and elements orb, yeah you are right, those systems that made 2nd games combat little more complicated.
I liked the fusion combos and orbs, but they made the combat too slow, it took too long for a combar to actually take off and were basically only useful for long battles (like with bosses or unique monsters), that said, that also felt like an excuse to make normal combats longer than desired, many times I just ran from a monster because I knew I would spend more time than desired fighting it and probably others behind me and, you know, the game is already long enough 🤷

Thanks, gonna do so, I'm literally gonna buy DE just to play FC lol, I just like Xenoblade that much!

I feel like Future Connected isn't even important to its own plot. I love Xenoblade everything but that really felt like a game where nothing remarkable happens. I guess that doesn't mean they can't squeeze some significance out of it somehow.

I planned on replaying XC2 before this released but I kinda bought Elden Ring, played that for several weeks, and now I've been playing Monster Hunter: Rise in preperation for Sunbreak, which I'll be playing for a few weeks, probably until XC3's release date. I would've had time if the game kept its original release date but I'm definitely not complaining.

Oh well.

Hmm I'd really have to disagree. They even said at the time of release it will have major implications for the future of the series. Also, in this latest trailer there's a shot of what is pretty clearly Alcamoth and it's surrounded by fog. Coincidence?

What do you mean? The main protagonists are Noah and Mio, but all 6 party members are the protagonist. Each one will get highlights in the story.
I mean, when it says protagonists are Noah and Mio, does that mean you spend part of the game playing as Noah (viewing story through his eyes etc) and vice versa?
On the wikipedia page it lists Noah and Mio as being protagonists, and I am not a fan of games that switch between protags, so that's why I was asking.

Oh, We won't switch between storyline. All party members will go together as the main character

Not a coincidence. I'm sure Alcamoth and Melia and the fog king and the circle designs on Shulk's clothes in Future Connected that the Keves characters also have will all have some sort of explanation. And as you say they did state it would have implications for the future. But after the dramatic mind bending cosmic revelations of the finales in XC1 and XC2 I'm saying that playing through Future Connected was shockingly underwhelming in terms of anything interesting happening. Just my opinion but if there was anything in the Xenoblade universe I would consider skippable, it would be Future Connected.

Basically, Future Connected is just a fanservice. You get it for free, focused on Melia (fan favorite), brought back scrapped content (bionis shoulder), expanded the Teelan sidequest (interesting story), and more story for Tyrea. While at it, they also add some setup for Xenoblade 3.

7 party members at a time, plus so many options with the recruitable heroes, and being able to change mid battle on the fly. I can't wait for this. Might wind up being one of the greatest battle systems ever.

Just noticed one of the heroes is censored out when they show the selection menu. Probably a returning character! I'm hoping for Tyrea.
