Nintendo Xenoblade Chronicle 3 Direct Announced for June 22

is Xenoblade like Final Fantasy where every entry is a new story?
Yes and no, unlike Final Fantasy they have clear connection and in Xenoblade 3 they bringing XC1&2 world together, there is already returning characters from both games in XC3.

Should I play Future Connected before 3? Because then I'll just play 3 later since I finished 2 early this year and don't want to get a burnout

Honestly......not really, Future Connected doesn't really add much and compare to Torna it much more inferior, mostly because it was nothing more than free extra.

I did not watch the Xenoblade 3 direct because I don't want to see any spoilers however I already know that the game is going to be a 10 out of 10 Xenoblade is the type of franchise that never fails, each and every game in the whole entire series is just spectacular in every way shape and form. If anyone never played the Xenoblade games before I highly recommend the series more than any other Nintendo series. I am not exaggerating either when I say that, the series is just that darn good folks. Too good actually. So I'm definitely going to buy the game day one and I've been doing my best to avoid watching any videos, directs, spoilers or anything regarding Xenoblade 3 because when I see it for the first time I want to be blown away.

Woah, Joker is making an appearance.

All three Xenoblades are connected.
This is Nintendo's description of XB3:

"With a brand-new story that ties together the futures of the worlds depicted in Xenoblade Chronicles and Xenoblade Chronicles 2."

This alone makes me excited about it and I never played the first two. Guess I Should get on that.

Yes. Xenoblade 2 > Xenoblade 1. I prefer 2. 2 gets a 10, 1 gets a 9. You don't have to bother with Xenoblade X. It is its own thing and has no story connection to 1, 2, and 3.

I tried X and I absolutely hated it. One of the worst UI's and menus I have ever used.

When you see the "twist" ending of both XC and XC2 you can clearly see the universal connection. It's really well done and it will be extremely interesting to see how exactly these two (or three) worlds/universes connect together...😏

Finished watching the direct. Looks great and the gameplay looks fun. Funny how the usual Suspects comment on how "terrible" the graphics are when they know Switch is no PS4/XBONE when it comes to specs. Even when a Switch 2 comes out eventually and has the specs of a PS4/XBONE or better, they will move the goal post. And say it's not as powerful as PS5/XSX. It's amusing to watch really. This game looks great, and the story and characters sound interesting. My two cents :P

Takahashi needed to make X so he could finally realize what we want. It was a bad experiment.

Personally I think this looks better than BOTW graphically and artstyle. The cel shading seems far better than what was in 2 and 1: Definitive Edition.

Same. It looks like Monolithsoft really worked on the engine. They are gonna to do amazing stuff when the Switch 2 comes out. Best looking Zelda is Windwaker

I noticed they don't care about resolution and would rather use the power towards scope and graphical techniques. Strong use of TAA to get rid of jaggies. It seems they've improved their engine's TAA. They possibly could even be using Temporal Upscaling.

They def have been playing other RPGs. Many aspects taken from recent games. I hope it doesn't feel like "too much" while playing.

I'm soooo digging the visual design in Xenobalde 3

Also this looks familiar. its seems combination of Valak Mountain and Satorl Marsh

I noticed too, I can't wait to see what the towns look like. They really improved on Xenoblade Chronicles 2 in the graphics department. Makes me excited for their next game especially if it comes out on Switch 2

Seeing this Direct makes the developers of Pokemon look amateurish by comparison. Monolith Soft is definitely Nintendo's most skilled first party developer.

In my opinion Monolith Soft one of the best JRPG devs out there, they deliver on large scale JRPG while helping other Nintendo's Ip and releasing in time.

Its crazy that Soul Hackers 2 looks worse and is running on more powerful hardware. Atlus doesn't have an excuse. I can excuse Falcom for the Trails series. They are a much smaller developer.

I love Atlus games but yeah they never go crazy on visuals no matter how powerful the system they work on.

I still like Atlus game's art direction and they are master of UI design.

Finally got around to watching the direct. I didn't think I could be less interested in this game but here we are.

Sorry Danjin44 Danjin44 , every time I see more of this game, the character design is less and less appealing - though I think having to create costumes that were applicable to class changes probably didn't make things any easier on the designers.

This might just be the first Xeno game that I avoid all-together. The story, the characters, the battle/job system all seem very uninteresting.

The post Elden Ring drought continues I guess…

Not a fan of Pokemon and the reason why is is I tried to get into their games but found the gameplay boring and the story boring. People complain how Nintendo relies on nostalgia which isn't the case most of the time but Pokemon that is one franchise of theirs that relies totally on nostalgia.

I'm tired of Atlus Modern JRPG setting. It's overused at this point and boring. I have the same feeling towards SMTV. I want to explore a Fantasy or Science Fiction world. Not a modern setting

The Legends of Heroes and Xenoblade series are my current top 2 JRPG franchise.

I can't wait to get Trials From Zero to come out here in September. And these games aren't graphically intensive at all.

My favorite Trials games is The Trails In The Sky Trilogy.

Everything from the story, characters, setting, and gameplay are fantastic. I even love all the graphics from all the Trails In the Sky and Cold Steel games I played. I never played the Crossbell games and always wanted to. So happy it's finally coming out here

I go back and forth whether I like Xenoblade or Trails more. I definitely am more invested in the characters of Trails since its a continuing story. I just don't know if the payoff of the mysteries will be as good as the Xenoblade games.

This game is gonna be fantastic.

I hope there is another June Direct though. I don't say this trying to be bitchy, it's just a genuine hope.

My favorite character designs are from 2 so I understand where your coming from. It seems to me that they censored the fanservice which is kind of a turn off for me. I'm still getting it due to being a huge fan of Monolithsoft

The Legend of Heroes series is my current number 1 JRPG franchise with Xenoblade following closely behind. That's because it has a continuing story. I thought Cold Steel 4 was their most disappointing. Also Musse is WAIFU

Finally was able to watch the direct. Some thoughts:

+Battle system looks complex but fun.
+Characters are very expressive
+Heroes bring some much needed flexibility and options
+Classes system looks fun to mess around with
+Surprised at the depth of the mechas and the systems involved, and I love that they have different forms with different weapons.
+World looks good, enemy design is interesting
+Cutscenes look to be on point. I worry that they showed too much though.

-Holy shit the melodrama. I hope there are some upbeat parts of the story because I like anime and jrpg stories, but even so that was a bit much for me. "I want to hold on, for just another day! We will fight for a future!" BLECCHHH
-Still don't like most of the character designs. Some of the "heroes" were ok. Curious to see who that blurred out one is.
-Can only change 1 party memeber (hero) of the 7. I don't like at least 3 of the main cast, wish I could swap them out with more "heroes".
-Voiceover feels like a step down from 2 except for the catgirl.

Overall, I'm whelmed. Not under or over. I'm sure it'll be a nice 80 hour by the numbers Xenoblade game, but it really didn't grab me like 2 did from the trailers. This one has me feeling a lot of the way I felt about the first Xenoblade game, which was "looks cool, I'll play it when I have some time". I really hope they were just trying to show the stakes in this direct though, and that the story isn't like that the whole way through, it'd be damn near insufferable.

This direct actually made me like the character designs even more and I said this before, they match the tone they are going for.

I would say the tone is very similar to 86, especially the way nations see soldiers as nothing more than disposable bodies to used in war.

Agreed, if the tone they're going for is

But to your point, that's one of the things that makes me worry that melodrama is all we're going to get. Even the nopons were acting like we're supposed to take them seriously. It's like a kingdom hearts-tier disconnect:

I'm not sure I agree, I personally like War stories in anime and enjoyed stories in both XC1&2, so I trust Takahashi to deliver on the story.

I'll admit 86 was a damn good story, but that's a whole different medium.

It's not like Takahashi hasn't had his failures though.

Characters have grown on me. Over the course of these trailers it does feel like they've got to show a bit of personality, like how Mio's ears express her emotions. So I feel a bit better about them, as if they will be good xenoblade characters like usual. The less interesting costumes is a neccessity of the class system needing every character to be able to wear every costume, but if you look at the DLC, it actually says outfit color variants are available day one but totally new outfits are available with later installments so maybe there will be lots of cooler looking fashion in the future. Or maybe it will just be something like "Dress Noah like Shulk" or something like that.

As for the graphics, game is gorgeous, amazing world and environments and all that, but the dynamic resolution will make it turn into a blurry mess during battle. It's pretty obvious that Monoliftsoft want to put as much crazy epic shit on the screen as possible. You have 7 characters fighting at once and you can switch control between 6 of them, they do crazy anime transformations in the middle of battle...it's gonna be just like XC2.

For me I see lot of 86 tone in XC3 and I'm LOVING it.
Don't forget though, 86 was mostly a character story with the war as a background. Sure there were action scenes and military planning scenes, but the heart of that show was character interaction and growth (and loss) of the main cast. If XBC3 can reach that level of maturity I'll be impressed.

Based on this direct we defiantly going get that, especially the way Ouroboros fusion work within the story, each character see to each others memories.

I believe Takahashi will deliver, like he did with XC1&2.

Forgot to talk about it in all the excitement of the direct but there's a fat kid for some reason around 2-3 minutes in

It might be young vandam?

EDIT: Nah I think I saw the same kid in the same outfit when all the recruits line up so he's probably from the same army as Noah

Watching the Japanese trailer, I think this is few rare cases that I actually prefer the English voices.

The only english voice I'm not a fan is Riku, he voice is too deep and in Japanese his voice is pretty young.

Have you seen the gun guy Hero!? Hes got serious gun energy going on.
Just rewatching it now with pauses and that gunner hero dude, Gray, is listed as a "Full Metal Jaguar" which is Elma's class.

I thought that was the point, the joke is that he has that deep voice even though he's a little furball. So his voice isn't deep in Japanese wtf
