What the hell? Oo
How come no gamepad support?
No interest in that case...
Man, keep asking but no answer, do I need any other controllers to play GameCube? All I have is the Wii U gamepad.
As far as I've heard, no game pad. Looks like wii u pro and PS3 controllers work. I'm hearing that wii remote and nunchuck work well for fps's. I'm assuming that GC controllers will work when the adapters come out.Man, keep asking but no answer, do I need any other controllers to play GameCube? All I have is the Wii U gamepad.
I tried this about half a year ago and nearly every game I tried crashed within 10 minutes or simply right at boot. I couldn't even get past the file select screen in Mario Sunshine.
Maybe there's been updates to it and it's improved a lot since then... but my experience with Nintendont was just awful. Wasn't worth the hassle to me.
I'm curious as someone with only basic soft modding experience:
Will future Firmware of any kind immediately disable functionality of wii's homebrew channel or would it take a coordinated strike from Nintendo on the mod itself to eliminate its functionality?
I'm dumb as a rock with modding but I have had the HBC for at least six years on my Wii and now the Wii U with no issues whatsoever and I played online all the time. I don't think they'll be able to do anything to it at this far stage in the game. Especially with the nature of the Wii U's virtual Wii set up. Of course if you send it in for repair as we've seen they'll probably give you trouble.
Wow, after trying to mess with controller config files, powered on Wii U Pro Controller and bam. it works. Does any other controller connect over Bluetooth as well?
Also, can we play Wii Backups just as easy? Would love to play Mario Kart Wii with controls that are like Mario Kart DD. I own MKWii but have not played much because I hate the controls and do not have any GC controllers.

When the Wii U boots into Wii mode, it literally becomes a Wii (which is why the gamepad turns off and the Pro Controller doesn't work). The Wii U and the Gamepad don't use standard WiFi and the Wii doesn't know how to communicate with it, much less that it exists.
The gamepad gets turned off when the Wii U boots into Wii mode..
Not 100% true. Although you can't use the gamepad as the controller, one of the updates awhile back allows you to output Wii games to the gamepad screen and also use the gamepad sensor bar for Wii games.
He's still correct.
The Gamepad is no more than a mere TV when the console is in Wii Mode. It's a pure dumb terminal video receiver. That's all.
He is correct about it not being a controller, but he is wrong about it turning off. That is why I said what he said is not 100% true.
Yep. Not an elegant solution, but it works absolutely fine.
i got one of those adapters that are short and have female component inputs from Solaris (same place that sells Framemeister and other cables)

Yes, you'll need another controller. The gamepad gets turned off when the Wii U boots into Wii mode. You can use any of the following controllers,
Wii U Pro Controller (my personal recommendation)
Classic Controller (would be the better controller due to the analog triggers)
Classic Controller Pro
The Dual Shocks (3 and 4) also work, but I haven't tried them since I'm content with the Pro Controller.
Also, if you have (or can get) an adapter, you can use the GC controllers. Mayflash makes an adapter that lets you plug the GC controller into a Wiimote and use it as a Classic Controller, for example.

any way to make a US Wii U region free yet to play JP Wii U game?
don't want to buy a JP Wii U to just play one game.
So theorettically, if the next Nintendo console has a Wii U mode, we could play all GameCube->The new console's games natively?

Day 1: See this thread. Think yea I want to play GameCube games on my Wii U. See I need brawl. Make a plan.
Day 2: Go to Gamestop buy used Brawl. Go home only have a 4gb SD card. Make plan.
Day 3: Buy said 2gb SD card. Put brawl in Wii U game is not readable.
Now I am sitting here pissed as hell. My luck sucks.
damn son
you've got a dodgy brawl disc. is it scratched? lets hope its not the console about to spontaneously combust, or you'll end up like this:
I even tried turning it off and on again :-(
The only problem I'm having with this lies in button mapping. When playing F Zero X, A is accelerate and Y is Boost, and it's pretty hard to hit Y while holding in A on the pro controller...
Yep. Luckily, I use a gamecube controller via a usb adapter.
Chances are that the smash bros gamecube adapter will be supported within a day of its release so we only have a couple of weeks to wait really for a widely available solution.

F-Zero GX actually has button mapping in the options menu.
Game works great for me but story mode crashes the system for some reason. Maybe a bad rip? Grand Prix is fantastic.
F Zero GX crashes if it is in DiscEX format. Use just a clean ISO. Works fine then.
Just tried this and was able to load the story mode prologue cutscene, but the game crashed when I tried to skip it.
ugh
Odd. Works fine for me with my rip.
It must be your rip, is it PAL or NTSC?
Nintendo isn't updating firmware in vWii anymore, I think they did one or two, but hombrew was totally unafected.
I Hombrewed my launch Wii U, Nintendo isn't touching vWii to hunt hackers anymore.
No risk at all with hacking Wii Mode.
If a Wii U mode hack appears, using that will likely get you banned - but this hack (wii mode) wont.

I'm looking at the requirements. Do you really need a 2GB or under sd card? They are probably so hard to get now lol.
So if I have CleanRip and GCMM on the SD card, can I rip to HDD? Or does it all have to go on SD card?
