NISA bringing Akiba's Trip: Undead and Undressed (PS3/Vita) to EU Oct 10th

I see a few people hating on NISA......SMH

They've localised so many great games and Disgaea is a wonderfully unique jrpg.

Akiba Trip also looks like fun though I'm more excited for the sequel.

EDIT: OMG it is the sequel 0_0

This is the sequel. Akiba's Trip: Undead & Undressed = Akiba's Trip 2.

The first game was never released in English, and sadly is not slated for release in English. But the sequel is a completely standalone game, so we jumped on it. ;)

Hmm, I'm certainly tempted by Akiba's Trip - but choosing a version is holding me back. It's not really something I want to be playing on a small Vita screen, but knowing that the PS4 version exists I don't really want to waste money on the PS3 version even though I don't own a PS4 yet. However on the other hand, if everyone holds out for the PS4 version it won't end up selling well enough for that to get brought over regardless.

Tough choices. I think I may have to see how much the Vita version RRP will be, not exactly my system of choice to play it on but at least if the PS4 version comes over it wouldn't feel like a waste of money double dipping like it would if I buy the PS3 version.

This series was originally released on handhelds, so the Vita version isn't inferior in any way. (Some people say it's the best.)

Yeah I can understand that, but I generally like to play open world games (and racing games) on a big screen rather than hunched over a handheld. That said, is Akiba's Trip going to be compatible with the Playstation TV? I think that'd sway my decision.

I just watched some gameplay footage on Youtube - in some weird way, it recalls to me a Dreamcast game. And I mean that in a good way. Doesn't seem like it plays like either, but from the setting and visual style, I can't help but think of Jet Set Radio and Shenmue. I may well buy this when it comes out.

The protagonist isn't of the silent variety is he? Please say it isn't so.

Japanese release currently has Vita TV support so I think it's a sure bet the localised version will also have Vita TV compatibility.

August is still what we're shooting for, so we might be joining those ranks! Which would be kind of ironic, since there are ads for both Disgaea 4 and Neptunia Rebirth *in* Akiba's Trip, as well as free DLC items associated with both Disgaea and Neptunia.

See, that's how awesome we are. Not only are we presenting this game to you guys with dual audio (and dual text, for that matter!), but we're even ADVERTISING OUR COMPETITION within the game itself. If that ain't hardcore, I don't know what is! ;) Heheheheh...

Dual Text? Like Persona 4 Arena?

That's impressive
pls don't region lock

He is a silent protagonist, but you make dialogue choices for him.

And eventually, you can change him into any other character in the game. (Model only, the story won't change.)

I've been starving for a beat em up kinda game so I looking forward to this. I loved that bancho game on psp but for most part these kinda games are rare if you don't count all those warriors games.

When multiple retailers list that as the date I tend to believe it.

That happens pretty often. Like online journalism, I think sometimes they just copy+paste their info from other sources, especially if they at least want a placement for a pre-order.

As others have mentioned, the Japanese version is Vita TV-compatible, but that doesn't *necessarily* mean the English version will be. I mean, I assume it will be, but we've received no technical specs or compatibility information for the North American PlayStation TV yet, so it's really hard to say at this point. The certification process could be wildly different than it is in Japan -- wouldn't be the first time. ;)

We'll definitely look into it, though!

'Fraid he is, though he does occasionally have "thought" dialogues, and you're constantly making choices of things for him to say, so he has a lot more personality than most silent protagonists.

I actually think the fact that he's a silent protagonist is part of the satire, in a way, as other characters are always making commentary about him, and every time, it's totally new information to you as a player, so you're just like, "oh, so that's the kind of character I am? O...OK..." ;)

No worries! No region locking.

Actually, we provide the placeholder dates in a lot of cases, as most retailers absolutely *must* have a date in their systems in order to take preorders at all. Unlike a lot of other publishers, though, we don't "post-date" our games -- we'd rather give a reasonable placeholder date and miss it than give a conservative placeholder date and sit on a finished game for weeks or months.

We generally try to estimate realistically when we give dates, but of course, that just invites Murphy's Law to come screw up our best-laid plans. ;)

Our placeholder date for Akiba's Trip is not very likely to happen, but as I said, our mastering process is going fairly smoothly nonetheless, so I don't think we're going to miss it by muuuuuuuch. You'll just have to wait and see, though! Hopefully, we'll be able to announce an official release date very soon.

The player’s goal is to identify vampires called “Synthisters” with the help of an in-game smartphone app, then engage them in battle to strip their clothes off so their bodies are fully exposed to sunlight. Boasting a unique combat system in which everyday objects become weapons,

Wut? :|

I kinda want this game now, thank goodness for the Vita version because trying to explain this to the family is well... difficult.

Ha ha.

The Vita version has an AR mode, though to be fair, it doesn't really add much to the game -- it just lets you take pictures of the Akiba's Trip girls standing around on your desk or what-not.

Cool feature to have, but if you pick the PS3 version, I doubt you'll miss it.

Akiba's Trip girls dancing my bed, sweeet that's the dream right there... maybe. ;_;

That's odd, they don't let you move it up? Have you considered more obvious placeholders(end of month/quarter/year)?

Oh, you can move things up, sure, but if your entire advertising campaign is already set around a particular release date, it's probably not very beneficial to do so.

...Really, though, it all comes down to other companies giving themselves a cushion in case something goes wrong.

We, on the other hand, have no cushion. We land on rock hard cement. ;)
