No Man's Sky |OT| Hello Worlds.

Fatigue is starting to set in. Finding planets and cool things is great, but the encounters feel a little too similar for me from a mechanics standpoint. Everything looks different, but at the same time, I feel like I'm doing the same things, if that makes sense.

I've only scoured two systems so far, hit up a few space stations, engaged in some battles, etc. I'm sure it'll open up better once I get more tools and the variety will set in.

Also, fuck Sents. It's hard to know when to mine because sometimes they don't give a fuck, and sometimes they are on my ass. Wouldn't be so bad if the goddamn shooting was decent.

How many words are needed to start being able to have a conversation? So far I have like 30 and only pickup on 2-3 words per conversation.

Oh so any random factory should do? Also, I shouldn't buy the anti matter? 30k is cheapest I ever saw it at.
I think so, if you try come back and let me know your results?

Gonna be honest don't know what 30k means to you at the moment, I couldn't part with it personally as of yet.

you first

Ahahhahahahah!
Finally scanned the stupid birds. I don't know what we're doing for spoilers, but the creatures in question seem to have different flight patterns during the day vs at night. Pretty neat.

Only 1 creature left to scan on my home planet. Not going to leave 200k on the table. Once that is scanned I will warp.

I don't think I'm playing for that long but suddenly 4 hours have gone by and it's late afternoon and I'm feeding some strange goat/moose thing with glowing puss balls all over its body and it's super happy I keep feeding it so it's shitting out red crystal poop that I'm getting titanium from.

I'm having fun.

i have only been taught like 5 words and that's one of the most interesting aspects of the whole game to me. Once I can warp back to the first system I can learn a lot more, but all the planets I've been to were void of NPC life

The only time I've has sentinels attack me is when I break into factories. Otherwise I watch when I'm mining. Careful!

Anyone know where to find suspension fluid or the blueprint for it? The game tell me to craft antimatter, which I need electron vapor for, and for that, I need suspension fluid, but I don't seem to have a blueprint for it.

I was under the impression that suspension fluid had to be bought, while everything else for the warp cell could be crafted. For me at least, it goes: Buy suspension fluid, use suspension fluid to make that vapor thing, use vapor thing to make antimatter, use antimatter to make warp cell.

Edit: Every station I've come across has had at least one suspension fluid for sale.

I came upon a planet that had an abundance of these supposedly "extremely rare"
gravitino balls, which lit up like the sun when I walked by them.
Grabbed it, and instantly went to a 3 star rating with the dog sentinals coming after me. Escaped on my ship, and came back for another one and barely got away with 1 hp left. Hope these things are worth it, but prob not lol.

I crave that currency more than any atm. Well over 100 and still in my home system.
Oddly compelled by the story.

The game reveals more and more stuff as you go through more systems. I'm on system six or so and new things keep happening. Each system I mean. And in space.

Yea I came across a planet with 6 of those green plant things that open up and give you a ball. Ended up making a lot of Units and pretty sure there were tons more.

As a reminder, please spoiler any discussion of narrative progression. Many of us haven't even started the game yet. Thanks.

So my LE finally arrived, and I picked up the only English-export Irish beer (aside from Guinness) I could find – Wexford Irish Creme Ale. I was hoping to find something a bit more on the craft beer side, but those don't seem to make it over to the U.S., at least not on the west coast. This beer is not rated very highly. :/ Now just a few agonizing hours of work left.

btw, Elon Musk is apparently going to try the game:

Will try out @NoMansSky this weekend. Maybe reality is just a series of nested simulations all the way down ... https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turtles_all_the_way_down …

.@elonmusk I'll hook you up with a free code ;)

The game doesn't look like something I'd like, but I still want to buy it?! There's something about it that intrigues me.

Aside from people who were excited for this game and like it, is there anyone out there that hated the look of it but still bought it? If so what do you think of it?

Before anyone asks what the point of buying something you think you might hate, I think it's nice to try different things sometimes.

I've tried things I would never have thought I'd have enjoyed, but ended up loving them.

The fact the game isn't a large download is appealing as I could have it downloaded within the hour from PSN.

okay.

random lore spoiler I guess? I just stumbled onto this shit

what in the hell. And it then gives me a device that extends breathing underwater, after I mentioned underwater caves yesterday. They are all over this planet. Is that a coincidence or are you more likely to find helpful stuff for the planet you're on?

Bought the anti matter and refueled hyper. Now to find the recipe somewhere. Crossing my fingers it's not glitched (looking for factories).

My second planet is creepy as fuck and loaded with these. It's completely dark and dead, covered in Gek monoliths and floating Copper. I have not seen a single animal and none appear in the record log to collect even with ???? marks, so I think there it literally no life other than spare mushrooms and a few random Gek hiding in bases. The funny part is it's like right next to a giant bustling space station. I worry one day I'm going to fly into that space station and Cthulhu will be chilling in there.

I preordered NMS through Steam (first time ever doing such in Steam). Any idea when I should expect the download to start?

Was I imagining things or was the PS4 preorder supposed to unlock at 11pm? Mine's not playable till midnight.

Man...

I was looking forward to tonight, but midnight is just a wee bit late to make a start on this one I think, especially when you're up early for work.

I dug a hole in a rock to hide from these little fucking insects that keep attacking me, how do I kill these things??

Just started, my starting planet is ugly and green and these robot things keep scanning me

I waited to redeem my preorder bonus until after I finished the tutorial. How do I access it now? Do I go to the nearest space station?

If you got OCD about this game you will be bored before leaving the first system. I think that's why they added loose objectives near the end of the dev cycle, because pressing on will help to keep the game fresher, faffing around on one planet for 20 hours will ruin it fast.

The only time I've has sentinels attack me is when I break into factories. Otherwise I watch when I'm mining. Careful!

It's my luck that I'd get the planets that have them casing around the whole join.

Maybe they have different temperaments depending on the planets?

Ahh, I'll just focus on bouncing out then.

How do I know if I was charged for my Amazon order or not? I'm planning on cancelling it just after picking it up from the store.

Even if I was charged, can I be refunded if I cancel it?

Sick of this.

My car shit the bed at work. Im having it towed to a mechanic and fully expect a bill of $300+ and possible issues getting to and from work for a few days... And all I can think about is getting back to the Bleebix system and searching for mats.

okay.

I didn't look at your spoiler, but I can say that I got the underwater breather on my home planet (that has no water), so who knows.

Big spoilers.

So I ran into
Nada
and
Polo
. When
Nada offered me the three choices I didn't know what to pick, so I'm trying them all and reloading if I don't like it.
