Aside inventory space, there's any difference between ships? Like speed or something? Or there's anyway to upgrade the normal (circle) boost? Sometimes i wish i could move faster while flying on a planet

I haven't seen this posted yet but this thread moves a mile a minute so apologies if this is old, but you can see how much of a bonus you are getting from placing similar mods etc next to each other reflected in the circles/bars on your stats. Apologies for huge screenshots, on a chromebook right now:

You can see on several stats like on my Scan, both Laser types, Stamina and Utilities my "bar" extends an extra 10-20% or so in a greyish color, that extension is the bonus you're getting from placing things next to each other.

The air just left the balloon...

I have played for 18 hours. Warped 15 times and used 2 black holes.

For the first time I looked at the "distance from center" numbers.
Before Black Hole - 178,503 light years
After Black Hole - 177,152 light years.

Gain of 1,351 light years.

Typical system jump only gets me between 10 and 20 light years closer to the center.

FUCK that. Between that and all the other nitpicks about waypoints, inventory and blueprints I suddenly feel like not playing anymore.

Well. I don't think the game is all about seeing how fast you can traverse the galaxies. I mean, if you only play it for that I'm not sure how much substance it will give you. I assume nothing really changes, besides probably some difficulty setting.

Buy. I've found 3 crashed ships and none of them were worth the time and effort it would take to fix everything in them.
The first crashed ship I found had an upgraded hyperdrive that wasn't yet available to me anywhere else, was definitely worth it.

The ultimate goal is to get to the center.
Who wants to do it if it takes 1,000 hours.

That's good to know. Considering how expensive they are, I don't really want to find a crashed ship that is equal (or better).
Total luck of the draw. Repairing a crashed ship can be very expensive and time-consuming though, so it's a trade off even if it is better.

Do yo guys buy ships or go on hunting crashed ones on planets?
I've tried both. I think I've found three different crashed ships but none seemed worth the effort (only a minor upgrade from current ship when all said and done). I've ended up buying two. Sitting at an outpost/space station and window shopping as ships come in is more fun anyway ;)

Is there a warp drive omega? Also, it seems like you can stack warp drive upgrades. Anybody tested this?

I've been wondering in general about stacking upgrades. I found a multi tool with the same upgrade twice but one was the +1 version and one is the +2 version. Seems like a waste of upgrade space to me.

Oh don't get me wrong, but I think the game bases its enjoyment on the ride not the destination. Exploring a bazillion planets, finding new weird Crackachus to make meme's about and eventually building your own outpost, perhaps with a friend or two.

It's a nice framework, but I do believe right now trying to reach the center without enjoying the exploration ride nulls the experience a bit.

However, that's just me looking at the outside-in atm.

So what are the three colored bars around the stats on the menu screen. I get that it should measure how powerful the stat is by why different colors and different bars?

It's all the same. Exploring 25 random star systems is the same as exploring 25 star systems that are aligned up to reach the center.

I wanted to go to a system which required a Warp Reactor Sigma. I had a blueprint for Warp Reactor Tau, so I made that. It still said I needed the Warp Reactor Sigma to get to that system.

AFAIK Tau > Sigma, so I though it being more powerful, it would work, or am I misunderstanding it?

So far im 0 for 2 in space battles....I'm finding it near impossible. Can someone offer combat tips? I find I just end up spinning around trying to acquire a target.

I ran into 3 pirate ships yesterday. I would recommend pitching to dodge them, and from there its just a matter of braking to line up your shots in them. Also replenish your shields whenever they dip to about 25%. You don't want to wait any longer otherwise you run the risk of dying, especially if more than one fighter is involved.

I'm so happy =D I have a planet with flying dragon-like worm things, and flying jellyfish, and it's a forested winter wonderland with amazing open clam-like giant rock formations all over the place! This game! THIS GAME!

I have played for 18 hours and am 177,000 light years away.
They must have magic hyper drives.

Depends on if all you do is focus on jumping from system to system. Plus there are ways
like black holes and Atlus Stations
to make the trip shorter. I've spent almost the same amount of time as you and am only on my 3rd system. I don't plan on getting to the middle for some time.

Yes, but its about enjoying the exploration of those to the destination during the ride. To me that seems to be the promise of the game, but if you only go in to get to the center as fast as possible min/maxing you probably wont enjoy it as much. But thats up to each person to decide for themselves.

I don't have any yet as it hasn't been a priority, but what warp core upgrades do you have?

Someone mentioned a few pages back being able to jump 6 systems at once.

Whats the most amount of planets you have seen in a system?

6 i think is the most i've seen. I only ever land on one or two per system. Whichever has more trade routes (I'm not actually sure this means anything, but makes sense in my head).

One of the new planets I found. Will post them in the Photo Thread later. Love this place:

There's a lot of water. It's like a red ocean. I'm saving exploring this one for a little later, but I had to snag a bunch of screens before I left to do some other objectives.

Go backwards (only works in space though). You can go backwards in space by pressing the brake button (works like GTA in that respect). Let them pass and then fly backwards and they will always be in front of you (keep in mind that makes it easy for them to shoot you but make sure you have plenty of titanium or some other shield recharging item and recharge your shield when they bring it down or better if you can keep an eye on it and before they bring it down.

I've won all of my space battles but one doing that (and that one had four guys after me and it may have been before I used that tactic).

Sadly in planet atmosphere the way I've found kinda abuses game mechanics (the fact it won't let you get close to ground). Usually they can get closer to ground so I just point myself down and start shooting at them and the game will keep me higher than them.

Thanks for the tips, Ill try that.

Six for me, but I've only made one jump from my started system so far. There's been so much to do here already and I got sidetracked saving up enough Units to buy a much better Multi-Tool and ship than the ones I started with. Tonight I'll take that ship away from the station for the first time, and head right back to the last planet I was on to restock on fuel, because I spent everything I had on the ship and now don't have enough to fuel the launch thrusters!

Loving the game so far.

Theta supposedly can go 1700 linear light years per jump - certainly sounds tedious but it wouldn't be impossible.

I should add..I visit almost every planet when I go to a new system. I fly down, take a look at the terrain and stay for a bit if it's not a baron fucking rock (2 out of 3 usually are). So I am not really min/maxing. I warp, see whats around and move along if I don't see anything worth sticking around for.

I have two priorities..get to the middle and find unique planets. The latter hasn't been going so well and now that I have seen the amount of time it will take to reach the middle that priority is a failure too.

Have we got a tips section?

Worked out today, that if you take-off from a landing pad, or after using the ship-call beacons, you don't use any fuel. Definitely works for my style, I usually walk around for 30 minutes/an hour then call the ship over.

Feel like I'm finally making slight progress towards the centre now I have a decent warp drive. Can jump over 200 light years and multiple systems.

Going to need to spend some time in the next system (this one has only a single planet and two moons) and do some serious mining to make some cash. While loaded with weapons and super fast, this wee fighter ship isn't going to cut it with 18 slots anymore. Time to invest in one of those bigger cargo ships.
