omfg this is the view i just warped into

Hearing about the stars is pretty exciting even though I figured something was up since they were locked. I'm not following any path either. I go to whatever star has the most moons or planets. Sorry atlas.

I did find a star that looked incredibly small compared to the others, but one I warped nothing seemed out the ordinary.

Aw yiss

Found a planet today with Heredium, Copper, Aluminum, and Gold. Also those Pearls in pods in caves. Stayed around to make a little cash, but the best part was coming across two multitools (I say two, because I found one that was the same but with more slots and I had to remake all my mods, dammit lol)

I was really hoping to be part of the theory crafting/knowledgebase for the different types of star systems. Will be a little sad if it all gets figured out this weekend while I'm out of town.

edit: holy crap! so jely ^^

damn the game is cool, only thing that is really bugging is the way you upgrade shit. why in the flying fuck it takes space to upgrade? so stupid, my item-hoarding self cant deal with it

You know that's, uh, how they programmed it right?

Apparently 90% 'barren' planets, 9% 'slightly more lush' planets, 1% 'lush paradise' planets

I've found many lush planets though. So amazing when you find them - and it's not unlike the early trailers when you do (even if they are obviously scripted)
I am aware of the 90-10 thing. But most people are not even going to explore 0.001% of the planets.

I'm only saying that the type of environments and system you saw in pre release videos will be practically impossible to come across simply due to the fact that all the parameters for those were manually set (dense flora and fauna with lots of variety, tons of alien ships, paradise weather, lots of beacons...all with such density) as such a fully procedurally generated planet will never have all of those at once..practically speaking. Even the lushest planets I've been to do not compare to what I saw in pre release videos.

My argument was that what we saw in pre release videos was what made this game look like a extremely exciting experience...but since those were partially hand crafted, the nature of things means those kind of environment will always look better than what the computer comes up with. In a game like this where the entire experience centres around the environment and what happens around you, it makes for a notable difference.

I'm completely lost on what todo to follow the atlas path so I'm just exploring every planet and jumping as much as possible. Finally have enough to buy a new ship .

47/48 Exosuit slots
35/48 Ship slots
9/29 Multi-tool slots

I think tomorrow I'll get my last exosuit slot and then go ship hunting to get a 48 ship.

Reposting for a new page (if you're using 50 pages) Sorry.

Sorry for all these questions.

So a few pages ago i was saying i had one more animal to find. But i found one that i hadn't seen before but that wasn't it. And in the journal there still on more entry with ???????

Is there any way to narrow this down, so i can leave the planet. Cause i ain't coming back to this system once i leave it.

As always thanks in advance.

So remember, you are looking for SPECIES, not animals. So finding another animal of the same species doesn't count towards the 100%.

I recommend looking for birds or underwater. Those seem to be the most likely ones people miss.

It's sorted by land air and water
Bottom ???? will be fish if it has them, middle air, top land
Figured that out last night

re: the lush planet issue, a recent post on Reddit talks about warping to new systems and increasing planet diversity depending on the warp reactor (Sigma/Tau/Theta) type.

That's interesting. I noticed early on that I couldn't go to a green star that was close. I still don't have blueprints for a better hyperdrive in 25 hours though.

Check oceans, caves, skies. Unique animals in those, easy to miss them.

Keep your scanner open and pan around. Little white dots you can see through walls are animals. When you get close the dot will either turn green (already scanned) or red (not scanned). This helps a lot but it can still be frustrating.

It's a load of shit.

You got any evidence to backup that claim?

In that there are other factors that determine this not the warp drive upgrades you have. They only dictate the distance you can make in one jump.

Aha. People were saying the star systems said 'locked' though when they tried to go with a low-end drive?

I am aware of the 90-10 thing. But most people are not even going to explore 0.001% of the planets.

Beside the type of environments and system you saw in pre release videos will be practically impossible to come across simply due to the fact that all the parameters for those were manually set (dense flora and fauna with lots of variety, tons of alien ships, paradise weather, lots of beacons...all with such density) as such a fully procedurally generated planet will never have all of those at once..practically speaking. I say practically speaking because it's like coming across a planet with a continent that looks like North America, while theoretically possible for the procedural generation to come up with something like that...in a practical sense it won't be something you'll ever see. Even the lushest planets I've been to do not compare to what I saw in pre release videos.

My argument was that what we saw in pre release videos was what made this game look like a extremely exciting experience...but those were partially hand crafted and due to the nature of things those kind of environment will always look better than what the computer comes up with. Naturally. I'm with you on this. FWIW I have had those 'really exciting experience' moments on incredibly lush planets which nearly (not 100%) matched what we saw in the trailers. Planets where I walk out onto a plateau with animals being hunted by a larger predator while ships fly overhead and there's a storm coming in and a planet in the sky yadda yadda.

If you explore enough and move planet/star system enough you should get those moments (but of course, due to the nature of the game, it's always a dice roll).

yes fuck you game.

When I don't have the money to buy a shup have them appear every god damn 5 seconds

but when I do, let me stand on a space station for hours without a fucker appearing that is 25 slots or above. God fucking dammit. Next 24 slots I'll have to buy.

In that there are other factors that determine this not the warp drive upgrades you have. They only dictate the distance you can make in one jump.

Perhaps if you'd clicked on the link you'd have seen that the post was saying the type of sun determines this stuff, not the warp drive upgrades, they just determine what type of sun you can jump to. But then I suppose reading a few lines would possibly have delayed your pithy summation of the theory.

In that there are other factors that determine this not the warp drive upgrades you have. They only dictate the distance you can make in one jump.

But if you try and go to the star the game tells you you need a certain warp drive. The game wrong?

You got any evidence to backup that claim?

Has that guy on reddit provided any evidence? No. Even users in the comments are saying that they are able to travel to systems they shouldn't be able to.

He also doesn't cover the omega warp drive upgrade.

Edit.
Nevermind saw the pictures. Never saw this in my game and I'm close to the core. Then again I had all warp drive upgrades for most of my journey.

Truly fascinating stuff. Normally you don't get this type of actual info out of reddit. Once I reach the core I will look more into this.

Is this true?

I'm on a planet with no birds and no water. I have one species left and I have no idea where to find it after exploring everywhere for hours and hours. It's killing me.

I've had some flying eel-like creatures on one of my planets also. Gave them the name Flying Catfish Graboid because from a distance they looked like Graboids with catfish whiskers. (hard to get screenshots when I'm fighting fps drops while flying for a closer view...)

Ok. Thanks.

I'm done with this game until some patches come out.

It's crashed on me four times in the last two hours. I'm pretty sure I have some sort of bug where even though I'm getting warp engine blueprint upgrades I can't even build any of them....

The amount of bugs present in this game are mind blowing. So disappointed I can't even put it into words.

The blueprint bug, it's a pain in the ass, about 90% of my new pickups say i've already got it, i've actually stopped grabbing blueprints for now, i got some really good health upgrade blueprints too that it said i already knew, so they never made it to my inventory.

Don't take feeding the animals for granted guys. This was done by design.

Feed an animal and they will dig up rare elements. Took me 40 hours or so to figure that out. I now have Omegon

shit, really? I've tried it a few times and they just give me a smiley face and run away :(

Word.

Caves? They seem to get their own species too, from my experience.

So unfortunate. I've had three crashes in 30 hours.

I mean, I should have had none, but I still feel it's within some sort of margin on my end.

You on PC or console?

Wow, apparently I was the 44th person in the world to get the platinum trophy (at least those with accounts on psnprofiles). Nothing mind boggling for some I'm sure, but definitely the fastest for me.

I need to take a break. I'll definitely jump back in as they add more features, as the base game is something special imo.

Nice. I don't think I'm ever getting it mostly because I can never find an entire planet's animals.
