Good luck spotting my ship from orbit now, space police. Accidentally landed in the perfect camouflage.

Nice. I did something similar:

Beat the
Atlas shit
(I think, it doesn't exactly tell me anything).

I'm done for now atleast 31 jumps and I'm too far from the centre to even try to care.

I just realized I have 2 waypoints for the Atlas quest line. Does it matter which one I choose?

Also, I've been getting by with a standard hyper drive but I'm finally forced to upgrade as both Atlas waypoints to the next star are too far away with the default hyperdrive.

Okay from all my space fighting... laser systems are pure garbage when you have enough upgrades to the cannons

Upgraded cannons turn ships into space dust instantly

Kinda like the multitool railshot in a way. upgraded boltcaster and it blew away the walker unit away... it also flew into the pit where I landed my ship

Yeah cannons decimate ships, lasers should just be used as a quick finisher when they start moving out of your FoV. Grenades are the best thing for offense on a multi-tool imo. I have mine connected with some damage modules, and they one-shot anything in the game with a direct hit except for Walkers, which they two-shot.

Of course any ship or multi-tool build with some upgrades is more than viable to survive and fight thanks to how trivial and limited all of the opposing forces are.

I must admit that I am a bit unmotivated right now. Probably 20 hours in and enjoying it but after reading the reddit "features" list that are gone I realise I wont experience anything else "new". I always watched previews/sean interviews so all of those features sold me on the game and I was excited to see them in action. Now I feel somewhat cheated.

Made a crappy phPBB forum once ... once.
So I've found a landing platform / waiting room kind of thing on a planet and saved there thing is, as soon as I take off again I'm going to forget where it is (it has a trading post as well)

What do I do to ensure I always manage to find it on my map?

Just bought a PS4 and No Mans Sky today, and have spent the last few hours setting it all up and getting to grips with the game.

I have nothing really to add at the moment other than I am super excited with my new console and the game looks fantastic - mind blowing scale! Can't wait to get really stuck in...

I hit 5 stars once, but it was just as I made it to a space station. Those bastards don't let up in space, can't really hide from them unless you're near a station or planetary body.

I saw more of the fighter ships, but no different styles of ships that I can recall.

They sort of 'warp' in so you may not have seen it. The big one should show up every time at 5, at least I saw it a few times anyway. My ship wasn't very upgraded so I'm sure someone out there can survive against it but I didn't stand a chance.

Is it possible to upgrade your life support system and oxygen supply for under water?

This is something thats puzzling me. Is there an oxygen supply when you arent underwater? I'm pretty sure you are in a space suit of sorts so under or above water really shouldnt make a difference. Either way your oxygen supply should be limited.

You can follow the trade ship lines down to it from orbit. Youll see them connecting their trade routes from diffrent ports.

Ugh. I have the 100 % planet completion glitch. Every planet just says 100 % even if I just landed on it and I can't get the reward for completion anywhere. Completely stuck on that milestone/cheevo. I hope they fix this in the upcoming patch :/

There are some upgrades, I have received them from meeting Korvax.

oh it's good stuff. I have made mine into a mining laser first and bolcaster second. Plasma thrower I left out.

Mine came as a mining laser first and boltcaster second (I had to put one on it... some vy'keen gave me one without one so I put one on and it was awesome then the next guy gave me a better one that I also had to put a boltcaster on).

The mining laser is so awesome that the sentinals I come across (i've only gotten the little flying ones and the insect looking ones that come out if you grab a graviton. I've been purposely not going far in the universe cause I hate the idea i might miss something in between) die in seconds with it. Though I upgraded the boltcaster with a fast reload, more bursts, and a better hit damage and it's almost as good now. So nice being able to grab those graviton ball things and just kill what comes after me rather than running (The biggest challenge is finding them. Once I do they're dead and I don't even have to duck their shots, they barely get my shield down 1/4 and I haven't even upgraded my shield).

I'm really happy I didn't follow this game's production. I knew enough about things like Spore and Molyneux's games to ignore promises or sound bites about possibilities. My bro wound up buying the PC version the day it came out so I decided to try it and really love it. It's just a good relaxing game. It goes right along with the adult coloring book trend. Keeping your mind and active but in a simple way. You decide how the game plays more or less.

I'm also quite happy with the variety. I've seen 20+ worlds and still seeing very unique planets. Upgrading and exploring is just plain fun. And just seeing unique landscapes is something that will keep me checking in for a long time. When you consider that most people travel this earth really just to get photo ops, this game does a great job of making that an incentive here. There is so much weirdness going in it that the repetitive elements are there to facilitate it. They are quick exercises to facilitate your creative endeavors.

I'm sitting at work just dreaming about what I'm going to see when I play later at home.

I followed it since the announcement before the flood. I haven't been disappointed by it. I mean I read a little of that guy's post on what wasn't in the game and he had some points but overall the game pretty much feels like I expected it to (hell I didn't even notice those were changed until he pointed it out. I did notice the ships all seem the same but some one claims they actually do have stats if you look at the game data and it seemed at least my second ship handled a lot better than the starter ship so handling wise it seems they are different?). It plays how I expected to play and yes, I did expect the combat to be simplistic....you could kinda tell it wasn't a big focus if you paid attention to what Sean was saying (I mean the fact that your multitool was also your gun kinda said that it wasn't going to focus on combat and the fact he said he wanted flying to be simple and he said this years ago. I dont' think he ever claimed anything more than a simple combat mechanic.. just that combat was there).

I'm kinda wondering what people expected out of the game. I'm not going to say I don't think the post is wrong that listed the differences (though I hear a good bit of it actually has been shown to be wrong but just not common things people find). But they are more cosmetic stuff. They would have been neat but they aren't the big things I would really notice in my gameplay. Aside from animals interacting with each other (I hear some people say they've seen it but it doesn't happen often and I admit I kinda was looking forward to trying to see how each ecosystem worked).

Which, well, it's still giving me what I was excited about mostly (a game that I can pretend to be an explorer and need to survive). Graphics aren't as good (Well the procedurally generated animals are too obviously parts stuck together is what I mean), well ... that sux but that wasn't why I was excited for the game (truth be told I'm ok with the whole 70's science fiction but I would have preferred a more realistic graphics approach anyways so that's definitely not why I wanted the game. To me it was a compromise anyways the appearance he went for). And I can just suspend disbelief and say, "well, they're aliens, things are going to look wrong."

Is it possible to upgrade your life support system and oxygen supply for under water?

Yeah the upgrade you're looking for is called an "Aeration Membrane". They come in Sigma, Tau, and Theta flavors that I've seen (haven't seen an Omega one). You'll need oxides like Iron to charge them but that's a non issue since the vast majority of elements you can harvest are iron. I happen to have a recipe for a Shielding Sheet (75 iron) that'll refill the membrane full, so I just craft those and slot them in when I see that oxygen meter pop up. Pretty much can explore indefinitely underwater. I will say that aside from scanning for life, or just a chill experience, there's very little reason to. I've never found rarer elements down there. Once in a blue moon I'll find a monolith or save beacon that spawned in some ocean floor canyon, but that's about it.

What does a Spaceman in a spacesuit need with a rebreather?

A quick question: my photon cannon is showing as 0%, and it's telling me to charge it with certain stuff, but when I check it, it doesn't give me the option to charge it at all. It still fires okay, just a little confused.

So I've only played for like an hour or two and was wondering if I want to continue.

I have a few questions:

1. Is there a way to upgrade your ship or suits inventory spaces? If so how or when?

2. I've heard you can get a bigger ship. What are the benefits for doing so? Are they like large destroyer size ships or still single cockpit larger versions of the solo ship you start out with?

3. Do we know when the first add ins are supposed to roll out?

So my friend is playing, and skipped out on his chance to get the Atlas Pass v1 accidentally. It's nigh impossible to backtrack your steps on the galaxy map, so he can't find his way back. Will the opportunity arise again or is he fucked?

You should really look through the first thread some, heh.

1. Littered throughout planets are larger pods with blue light you step into to purchase a slot upgrade. Also, suit stations are found behind Atlas lvl. 1 doors.

2. The bigger part refers to inventory slots. Ship can still be small, but have up or 48 slots like the exo suit, only each slot in your ship holds twice the amount of stackable items.

3. No?

Yes. There are "Pods" scattered around the planet, triangle shaped and a blue tinge. They upgrade Exosuit inventory for 10,000u, then every upgrade is increased by 10,000. You can find crash ships which may have 1 more inventory space. Buying ships will allow you to generally get more space.

2. I've heard you can get a bigger ship. What are the benefits for doing so? Are they like large destroyer size ships or still single cockpit larger versions of the solo ship you start out with?

More space for weapons, warp reactor and such. Just bigger, single cockpit-type ships

3. Do we know when the first add ins are supposed to roll out?

No, radio silence.

Quick google search shows that it seems to be common problem, likely a bug. I'd expect it to get fixed in the next round of patches. Are you finding that you can't damage things like ships with it or that it's operating differently?

This game is so gorgeous!

That daylight show with the floating island in the distance is pretty great.

Yup. Nailed the landing. You'd think a $4 million ship would include a landing cam.

This game is so gorgeous!

Yeah the ships really need a parking camera or some shit, I've missed a few parking spots at trading posts and then I gotta blow more fucking plutonium to lift off and miss it again. I dunno how they didn't find that annoying.

I had my first, real "emergent gameplay" moment last night, found my first lush planet (huuuuuuuge green motherfucker with tons of resources) and I just jumped out of my spacecraft and picked a direction and went off on my merry way.

I felt like an explorer.

I love this game.

About what you get from Atlas v3:
Is this it? Some rooms with loot? I would've never bothered grinding for it if I knew. Wtf. Pleasd tell me there's more

davepoobond

you can't put a price on sparks
finally got an atlas pass v1, a better multiool (10 slots, a big pink/green rifle) and i have enough money to buy a ship with 20 slots or something.

i'm going to use up my hyperdrive fuel before seriously trying to find a ship with more slots. i'm still using the pre-order ship with 16 slots.

Lol I honestly don't know why some bother with v2 and v3 of that useless pass. V1 is where it's at, V1 is all you need imo.

How did you even grind for it intentionally? For now that seems to be it.

I really, really hope this first patch adds either a storage container in space stations or lets you stack certain materials because oh my fucking god how in gods name did these not stack to begin with.

Is there any point in any version of Atlas Pass? You get max inventory from plentiful drop pods and resources are very plentiful on planets.

Yeah, it's great. Those are my favorite parts of the game, when I just start losing myself exploring a planet. I run around a little to gather Thamium, all of the sudden I've found like 10 knowledge stones, or a few caves, some mineral deposits, or a couple outposts, and I'm a 10 or 15 minute run from where I started.

Warped to my third system last night, and it's been an intense experience so far. I first landed on a dusty planet with my first graviton balls. Unfortunately the Sentinels were set to Hostile there, and as soon as I'd pick up a ball I'd get a 3-star wanted level (even if no Sentinels were around) and a dog-mech would teleport right next to me. Seemed a bit unfair and gamey to me.

I found my first portal there as I was flying over the surface. I don't know why Hello turned them off or left them in the game, but I couldn't find any way to activate it.

Next I landed on my first proper Extreme environment, a small moon that had something to do with the Atlas. It actually said "Extreme" on the environmental hazard bar on the HUD. The temperature range makes me think it would be pretty close to its star if solar systems actually worked as advertised in the game. Normal temps of 90C, with storms that raise the temp to a face-melting 285C. These storms were nice to look at, with swirling winds and flashes of lightning in the clouds, but I had to quickly run for cover every time as they could destroy my hazard shielding in seconds.

I'm excited because there also seems to be a very small moon orbiting another planet. Looking forward to seeing what that looks like on the surface.

I think a lot of people are going to burn themselves out on NMS early by using exploits and guides to minmax the game, as well as looking up every surprise and secret. I don't want to tell people how to play the game, but If they bypass the natural progression system and max out everything, and spoil all the secrets for themselves, then there's not as much reason for most people to keep moving forward or keep playing.

I've ignored all those guides and cheats; I'm just taking things slow and upgrading my gear as I come across stuff. I'm not asking about what I need to do to finish the narrative. I'm still using the pre-order ship. I'm playing knowing that Sean is committed to updating the game with new content and features. I know that if I rushed through the game and felt done with it, I wouldn't come back just for that new content.

How far did you get? My record is 40 minutes on the distance from ship timer.

I'm going back to that planet today to find the last species I am still missing. Found both birds and both fish. I have no idea what's missing :\
