No Mans Sky | PC Performance Thread

My GOG version is running fine for the most parts (some stuttering here and there, especially when entering the atmosphere of a planet for the first time).

But my hardware is also relatively 'beefy' and overclocked.

YT video @ 1080p max settings

Thanks. Video looks pretty good. I'm still debating which store to buy it from. May go with GOG after all.

Hoping to get a few more impressions. I have a 980 as well but my processor is an i5, a bit worried since I hear this is pretty CPU heavy

4k seems like a total no-go.

1070 with anywhere between 7-60 fps. Unplayable that way.

Even 1080p can't hold or get to 60fps most of the time. Frequent drops into the 40s. There's gotta be a setting that's burning performance. This is just atrocious.

Edit: And apparently nothing takes effect unless you back out of the game! Should be tons of fun testing!

What do you think the problem is? Is it Durantable or something more?

So anyone have crashes on steam but works on gog?

Steam version here locks up the PC (i7 4790K 32 GB RAM Titan X Win 10 up to date drivers) so its effectively garbage

As said, my gog version is running and playable so far at 1080p and 60fps but I also doubt that there is a difference between the gog and steam version tbh.

Ran fine at 720p (I know!) for about two hours. 30-40fps or more with everything set to high. Then it suddenly dropped to 11fps, but it was back to normal after rebooting.

Another report:

Ive been playing (actual playing, not messing with settings anymore) and it runs well for me. Def not refunding, but I can see why some would if the fixes out there cant get it to a playable level.

When I first started it, I thought i might have to get a refund too, but the fixes have helped alot.

I got my ship off the ground, but didnt leave my main planet yet, still want to explore.

There is occasional hitching but its nowhere near as bad as it was before I did all the fixes. It will def suffice until HG puts out a proper patch.

Been having a blast, still haven't left first planet but just had my first crash to a BSOD.

Game has been pretty damn stable at 1440p, max settings at 60fps. Definitely some hitching and drops but overall its been good except crash obviously lol

I'm playing games exclusively on PC since forever.
Just because it runs for you doesn't mean its a perfect port. And from the forum posts out there, it seems its very badly optimized.
Of course its not the worst PC port ever, but people have every right to complain, because they payed money for a product. End of story

No issue with complaints at all. In fact it is typical that we as gamers have and share the issue we run into at a game launch and that's how things get resolved.. What is happening here though, with this game for some reason, is complete meltdown.

Anyone know if Nvidia is going to release a new driver for this game?

Just about to head home and decide on what to do.

Trying to remember my PC specs

i5-3570K
970X
16 GB RAM

Nervous

I have no issues with bugs, crashes or anything, just the performance is a bit rocky

FX 81320
8 GB RAM
R9 280X
Driver: 16.7.3

Cheat Engine works for money, obviously. So that's great.

Using a controller for flying around feels way better. Performance seems pretty much fine now with OP's tweaks.

Absolutely zero lag indoors, underground or in space. Just on the surface.

Despite the issues I am just in shock at how much I love this game. I'm hooked.

Does anybody know how to lower the mouse sensitity ? It doesn't work, at zero or 100 it's the same for me. I tried changing it in the config file directly and it still doesn't work.

Other than that, the game is running fine for now.

so i realised for some stupid reason you need to hold the mouse button down instead of clicking stuff. changed my PC settings and is running way better. there is still stuttering/hitching here and there but nothing too crazy that probably can't be fixed with a patch or two. i'm using the gog version and no crashes at all. i played for about an hour without any serious issues. i had to stop playing not because of performance but gameplay. the FOV still feels really small. it's definitely at 100 but maybe it hasn't applied correctly or something. i feel so sick right now with a sore head.

settings were borderless window, vsync on, max fps, fxaa, 1080p, both FOV at 100, everything else up full. I also have Rivatuner capping everything at 60fps. my specs:

i7-6700K 4.5Ghz,
16GB DDR4 2400
GTX 1070 (368.81 drivers)
Windows 10 64-bit (version 1607)

Don't see the difference to other high profile releases . by what measure are you comparing?

Go into the .ini settings in binaries under settings then TKGRAPHICSSETTINGS and put it to 140.

I think I'm gonna bite the bullet. I want to play this so bad, but I HATE the low FOV on console. Worst case, I refund through Steam.

Other than Max FPS and turn off VSync, what seems to be the common fixes?

Wow, the stuttering is atrocious. And I think I started on the ugliest planet in the galaxy. It was hilarious seeing the initial "vista moment" as the camera panned across and all there was to see was a big grey rock with PS2 textures.

Incredibly bad first impression. So if I play this for more than 2 hours I can't refund?

Two weeks or 2 hrs, whichever comes first.

No issues here. i5 660k/MSI 1080 gaming X/32gb ram. Once I turned off v-sync, put it in borderless window, turned off the FR limiter, and cranked the settings up it ran like a dream. Every now and then it would get a little janky but on 1440p I'm getting a solid 135FPS. In space it goes down to about 110, which is fine.

Yeah. First thing I did was give myself infinite jetpack fuel and faster movement speed. The fact that I want to cheat engine my way around all the basic gameplay mechanics suggests that the basic gameplay mechanics are boring :(

Really, I don't see myself getting more than a few hours of enjoyment from this. Luckily I'm still within the refund period.

Played only about 30 minutes so far and I can hit what should be a consistent 110 fps which I lock it to at 1440p with everything maxed out, but the random stuttering (especially when you do the scan with the C key) is garbage.

Geforce 1080 Strix OC edition

Aren't games priced differently depending on region? I know someone from the Philippines who pre-ordered the game for $32.

NMS for the Philippines is $30, so is Thailand. Malaysia is even cheaper, $26.

Indonesia & Singapore should get the game from one of those stores, as inter-region gifting is possible (ASEAN).

My crashes that I was first experiencing shortly after entering the options menu have stopped. I am not sure if it was server related or the fact that I went into the GeForce controls and told it to optimize the game. I then went in and tweaked a few things. GTX980/i7
