I had a look at my game completions from last year... 32 games completed, of that only two came out last year... so... I'm in! Though I'm going for the 1 new per 10 backlog at best, cause there's no way I'm skipping TLOU2, Cyberpunk calls to me, and Doom Eternal also (plus I backed Psychonauts 2 all the time ago so I assume I get it at some point this year.
I have... an uncountable amount of games in my backlog... something like 2000 Steam games, boxes of PS3/PS4/PSP/Vita games, 10 years of PS+ games, Humble monthly... etc etc etc... so I'm not going to make a list in advance.. as my options are VAST... Sometimes people will question why I play some of the games I will get to... and it's cause... I bought a LOT of cheap old PS3 games in run out sales etc.. and the plan is to play them then sell them off
Thus far this year I've already completed
1. Midnight Club Los Angeles (PS3)
My first Midnight Club game, overall I had a pretty good time with it, I mean, it's SUPER arcadey, and more often than not it was traffic that took me out rather than crashing from taking a corner badly. The "campaign" is really quite long, although I'm not really sure why they even bothered to add a story... My biggest complaint was... I finished all the missions to the point of becoming the champion, and then the final task is to pay $1 million to buy in to a garage, which then gets you access to all the cars for free... Well... I wasn't planning on this... I spent a bunch on upgrades as the game went along, so when I got to this point... I had about 100k only... It meant I had to do hours of grinding... in a racing game.... took the shine off things a bit. Still seems a bit weird that like... 12 years later, there's been no mention of any new Midnight Club game... I guess GTA/RDR just makes too much money to bother!
2. Weeping Doll (PSVR)
This is like... a 1 hour experience at most... early days VR title where it's the teleport method to move, really (REALLY) simple puzzles.... you won't get stuck.... and.... it's supposed to be a horror game apparently... but... nope... not remotely scary... I'd pass on this one
3. Eagle Flight (PSVR)
Maybe 3-4 hours to complete (to the credits, not to 100%). This is a fairly chill VR game where you pretty much are just using head movements to fly, and a few buttons on the controller to speed up/slow down, shoot, and block... It runs perfectly smoothly but again being close to a launch title.. it has very noticeable black borders that move in close as you get close to items, and no way to turn this feature off or set levels. I know it was early days and people were getting their VR legs still... but I seem to be luck in that I don't suffer any ill effects from VR aside from if the game is super low res and has text I am supposed to read... Aside from that though, was a fun time... Multiplayer is dead though so I couldn't try that
The game I'm playing right now is... Medievil (PS4)... now.. I need a judgement made on this one.. I DID buy this a few days in to the new year... HOWEVER.... I already own the PS1 release and was playing that on Vita, before deciding to upgrade to the new pretty version... So..... does this count as a backlog game cause I owned an earlier release of it... or have I already failed for the year before any of the cool new games even come out!
Congrats to anybody that made it through that wall of text btw!
