No srsly Capcom its time to make Monster Hunter with that panty raid engine

panty raid...deep downgrade....this thread truly delivers.

i thought nintendo paid capcom a lot of money to keep MH on their platforms only in some hushhush deal.

Really that's what everyone said and it might have happened with OG tri but I don't think that's how it went down with the 3DS games

Definitely not. One of the coolest things about Monster Hunter, as a franchise, is that it's possibly the only mega-successful franchise in the traditional video game industry that hasn't felt the need to ramp up production value with every new entry, "just because they can get away with it", until the series is in a position where it needs perpetual, continual sales growth in order to be financially viable. I think it would be horrible to leave the traditional console gaming industry bereft of the one example of successful smart, sustainable business practices.

And beyond that, the lower fidelity simply allows more content to be produced. If you're a fan of Monster Hunter, I have absolutely no idea why you'd want the franchise to go down the route of producing less and less, all in the name of making everything prettier.
You made a fantastic post.

Capcom is in the position where a few big failures could send them off a cliff. If Capcom dies, Monster Hunter will be in limbo for years. Asking Capcom to "take risks" with Monster Hunter (And by "take risks" these people seem to mean "make the exact same game with pwettier gwaphics) is not a good idea if you want to see more Monster Hunter from them in the future. Those asking for better graphics or a new engine should at least wait until they're more stable.

When the Vita version of MH4 comes out, yeah :D
It's time to make monster hunter for Vita
No what Capcom needs to do is to make a MH for Vita already. Engine is irrelevant, just fucking release something you jerks.
Ha ha, oh wow.

for some reason I don't think MH really needs a huge jump in graphics, just a slight bump in character model polys and some more lush terrain, and higher res textures really

Mon Hun has tiny areas. I can't imagine how expensive it would really be to update what they've got. It can't possibly cost that much.

Just put it on something where I can use a decent control method and 2 analog sticks without busting my hands. WiiU/PS3/360/PS4/Xbone/Vita whatever, I don't care. It's frustrating that Monhun went to the one platform that it would control the shittiest.

Uhh... you can already get it on Wii U.

panty raid engine? you tryin to riff on the mgs Panta Rhei engine? but talking about Capcpom? i know you know better, log, so idk what is going on here. Unless there is some crazy licensing i don't understand.

There's nothing I want more than for Capcom to really put a big budget behind a next-gen console MH but I don't want the concessions that would probably come with it. Just imagining MH going down a similar path to Resident Evil makes me feel ill.

The MGS engine is called "box engine", because Snake likes boxes.

Yeah, I'm calling bullshit on all this talk about higher risks, considering how much of the content is regurgitated over and over, this is not the same thing as trying to create a single player campaign.

The fact that you can compare the visuals from 9 years ago to today just exemplifies their laziness.

Panta Rhei is Capcom. Fox Engine is Konami/MGS.

Get your Panty and Box engines in line yo.

The best Monster Hunters are Dos and by extension 2ndG, it's been all downhill from there, and Capcom will ride this horse into the ground harder and faster than it has with every other series that managed to capture lighting in a bottle.
