November Wrasslin |OT| Ask Not The Jobber How John Cena Wins

Threw him over the ropes directly on his surgically repaired shoulder.

Then for some reason the continued the match with an announcers table spot.

I got bored, and thinking about eras in wrestling, and wondered if Survivor Series has had an unbroken chain since the original, or if there's ever been a point where nobody on the card for an SS was in the last year's SS.

It has kept a chain all the way back to the original, although Undertaker is one of the big reasons it has (there's a couple of pretty big shifts in there). Cena is the major bridge in the recent years.

Kind of neat that if you wrestle on SS right now, you can trace a lineage of people all the way back to 1987.

edit: Goldust has the oldest appearance for an active participant in a previous Survivor Series. 1995.

Ok, so you have a tag team there, wearing the merchandise of a faction they're a part of in NJPW. Do these storylines spillover from fed to fed? Is this main event part of some New Japan x Ring of Honor event?

Is it just, "those guys you know from that Indy you like are here now and they want to help this guy beat that other guy who's aligned with that other tag team you know who are longer with that company you watch"? Because why bother? Is it really that major to see the Young Bucks and the TNA guys in the same ring? With no story or anything?

I can understand if you want to see Bret Hart vs. Sting circa 1997 because they have the same submission hold. You don't even need a story, you can just advertise this one time match between these established guys and people would watch it. The Sharpshooter/Scorpion Deathlock is all you need.

But these guys?

Honestly the roster is so thin right now they would be better off bumping up guys from NXT now.

They clearly care more about the Royal Rumble then TLC so why not do something different and give the main event talent a rest from matches with weapon spots.

For as much as the WWE claims they changed their style to prevent wrestler injures it was continuing a match like that debunk that shit.

The bladeing stuff has to do more with image than heath concerns.
Less dangerous spots have more to do with maintaining a Mattel friendly image.
Concussion safety has more to do with fear of lawsuits than protecting the wrestlers.
They keep on doing spots with people who have a history of injuring people (High spots with Miz catching for example)

Yet they have no fucking problem making sure their talent has to tough out matches. And its really clear that the roster isn't good enough to do the amount of matches and shows that they do each week. Roman Reigns had stomach acid leaking out into his lower intestines and his mentality was "I just need to tough it out".

Honestly if they don't do really well over mania or Vince lowers his salary I don't see how they can keep this up.

So it's basically, "these guys are the best in the world and now they're all in the same ring". But they're not the best in the world and last time I checked, wrestling is f*ke, so the what the frick?

Nurse: "Doctor, we cannot perform this operation at this time..."
Doctor: "Why?"

Nurse: "We’re getting some substantiated diagnoses of limes in the patient’s system.."

Doctor: "Are you telling me we missed a Lyme Disease diagnosis?"

Nurse: "No no….it seems this patient simply has too many limes in his system…"

Doctor: "That’s a shameful thing…"

In terms of tag teams, you'd be hard-pressed to find many people who wouldn't list the Young Bucks at or near the top of any "best of" list in 2014. And yeah, wrestling is fake, but that doesn't stop us from arguing over who is "better."

This is just one match, too. The main event between Jay Briscoe and Adam Cole has a much longer and interesting history. Moose and RD Evans are a tag team that just split up after Moose stopped RD's streak from hitting 174-0. (comedy story and a damn good one) reDRagon and The Time Splitters are having a rematch of their New Japan tag tournament bout.

If you're into in-ring work and a hot crowd, along with a light story here and there, ROH Final Battle is hard to beat. There are matches that are simply about proving who is "better," but that's the essence of almost. Every wrestling match, story or feud ever.

Oh sh*t, I can watch the ROH TV show on their website. Ok, let me watch dis sh*t and get to the bottom of the situation.

Watch it this Friday. The free episode that's up now is not the best representation of what the company usually puts out. The end of the first segment and how they did the second segment was really awkward, and the main event wasn't a strong follow-up to Lethal vs. ACH 1.

So here is the card most likely:

Rollins vs Cena
Ziggler vs Harper
Dean vs Bray
AJ vs Nikki
Rusev vs Swagger
Kane vs Ryback
Big Show vs Rowan
Tag title match

So i'm guessing Reigns will make his comeback on TLC and not on some RAW show right? Since WWE seems to be in love with interferences, he'll probably show up at Cena vs. Rollins??
Surely they'll pick up where he left. Surely..

Ok, I'm having some technical difficulties so while I get that squared away let me just post my reflections on what little I've seen so far.

Jay Lethal, a black man, is the Television Champion and appears to have a white man as his manager/underling. So far a refreshing change of pace. What's more he's cutting a promo on his opponent in tonight's main event, ACH, another black man. Two black men main eventing a wrestling show. And in this opening 6-man tag match, 1/3 of the athletes competing are black. Either this wrestling federation is targeting the Urban Demographic hard or I'm just too used to WWE.

The World Champ is a redneck, and the tag champs are white dudes. But yeah, ROH has a lot of talented black wrestlers.

Looking forward to the rest of your thoughts, friend bean.

Not really exciting.

Jay Lethal's man, Truth Martini just instructed the ring announcer to say that Lethal is the greatest 1st generation wrestler of all time. I have to admit that got a sincere laugh out of me.

If LU ep5 is up online anywhere tonight, I'd love to tune in before tomorrow.
There's an average quality copy floating around for download, not streaming. Hopefully it'll be up on Dailymotion soon.

Based on the strength of the first 4 eps I'm locked in to grab a Blu Ray set for it. Damn good television.

Terrible poster for TLC;

Ha which one of you guys made this up? It's quite cute.

Ok, my thoughts on ROH will have to wait because I need to listen to AOW now. I will say that I enjoyed it but I'm going to have to delve deeper into the ROH universe to get a true sense of it.

OMG, CM Punk time! I haven't been this hyped since Sting made his WWE debut. I'm surprised TheWesker hasn't spoiled the podcast yet. I'm going in fresh. Why did CM Punk leave?! I'm about to find out!

Not really exciting.
Current booking says Zigger should be included in that last list... But historically, the chances of that happening are, well...

Yeah, not happening.

Watching ep. 4 of Lucha Underground, Drago breaks a smile after some people in the crowd laughed at him picking up his black goo.
