What you think that NoA could make? Wii U is a terrible and expensive console.

Yeah, the major problem comes from NCL itself, which released a product that wasn't able to result as attractive in the first place to the masses, especially with the initial price and lineup.

...Although I'd say the low amount/quality (especially quality) of commercials when it launched had a part in that. But it's also true that it wasn't all NoA's fault (quality surely was, though).

I don't think that it's a thing. Just how Microsoft would market it if they do it.

There is an Uncharted Collection PS4 bundle for $400 that releases on October 9th and I think that the Destiny TTK bundle will carry over into October.

As for Halo 5, has 343 shown any single player gameplay yet? If not, I would be very concerned if I was a Halo fan.

they showed gameplay at e3 that was pretty bad, but then a closed demo leaked that looked fucking insane

so at the very least we're having one great level and one kinda boring looking level

It definitely wasn't all NoA's fault. I singled them out because this is a thread about North American sales and they absolutely deserve a big part of the blame in how Nintendo is seen by consumers in this part of the world in 2015. I mean, look at how they market everything they sell in this territory. It's a joke. The Super Mario Maker TV ad is literally the first appealing piece of advertising I've seen from them since around 2011.

As for Wii U, it was clearly a console aimed at Japan first. It was a horribly conceived device all around, particularly as a system aimed at a global market. Thankfully it has produced some really great software, but it hasn't been nearly enough.

I don't entirely disagree. I wouldn't call it "terrible", but it's certainly expensive.

Well, it's a good console for play Nintendo franchises. Even Gamecube that was the worst seller had much more than that.

Wii U should be $199 right now, I suppose they can't because of GamePad.

ps4 is not even selling a half of what wii sold in the same time frane

it's not selling amazing by any standsrts

Isn't the Ps4 doing better than the X360 over the same timeframe?

X360 ended up selling more than the Wii in NA.

Wii's short burst of success can't be used as a barometer for anything...

Oh, then that IP's popularity must be quite different between countries.

One Piece was never popular in the US. The anime didn't break out in the way DBZ or Naruto did.

Also, Europe continues to save PS4 software. Sony should be thankful that SCEE is so damn dominant. Makes SCEJ look like a joke.

Weren't EO games selling around 30k units in North America? Those sales might seem on check for such a niche series that has always been released over here.

Pretty sure the numbers on 3ds are declining from IV to Untold to this. My phone is low bat atm so I'll dig out the number later.

This is more like niche niche tier and really don't inspire confidence for obscure Jpn series.

Wasn't short. 360 and PS3 had an unusually long cycle.

..."save"? Isn't that a bit hyperbolic? It's not like PS4's software sales in US are abysmal. But, actually, now that I think about it, it's been a while since we got an update on total worldwide software sales for PS4, I'd love to know the current tie ratio. Maybe TGS? Or PGS?

rr < 109
ud < 90

rare replay pls.

though this isn't necessarily bad for a not very marketed game aimed at a somewhat niche audience done for probably real cheap

also that's real bad for until dawn, that thing looks like it cost some money to make

makes for a good let's play though

Still doesn't change the fact that the X360 outsold the Wii. And Ps4 is performing better than the X360.

Yes but PS4 is not performing like the market leader at this point in 7th generation. Plus we don't know if PS4 will have 7 years like PS3 until the successor come out.

Ok, but that means ignoring the main reasons why 360 outsold Wii in the end: unusually long lfe cycle and even more unusually strong second half thanks to price-cut + Slim + Kinect. You can't apply the reasoning (PS4>360 so far, thus it'll SURELY continue doing like that) when there are other factors that made 360 sales unique in terms of pace. And i doubt Sony can get the family audience in the same way 360 did with Kinect, just by looking at family titles sales so far (more specifically, the split, with Wii U / One usually having greater shares than PS4).

Thats because sony wont budge on price, they would have left ms in the dust if they did it last year.

Can mgsV go toe to toe destiny? when it comes to sales. I have a feeling destiny will outsell MGSV by a mile (especially if you combine digital). MGSV will get a distant second next month.

Nah, it's Sonys passion that gets them the deals.

Yes.
Btw Halo 5 console bundle release at October 20 not 27.

Okay, wasn't sure. Can the Halo 5 game be played on the 20th if you buy the console or do you still have to wait until the 27th? If it's the 27th, I really don't see the point and at $500, I think the bundle will bomb as it's simply not worth it in my opinion and with the console being $350, to increase the console by $150 while Sony is releasing their bundles at $400 is just insane.

What about after the holidays? Didn't Xbox One sales take a huge dive once the price went back up and they were forced to make $349 the standard price?

If Microsoft drops to $300 for the holiday, once the holidays end, I see them announcing that it will stay at $300. I think that this though would just be for the core bundle (no games at all, 500GB) or the older bundles like Halo MCC and AC that they still have in stock and want to clear out.

they showed gameplay at e3 that was pretty bad, but then a closed demo leaked that looked fucking insane

Okay. The only thing I saw about Halo 5 was at Microsoft's press conference during GamesCom and I was like, WTF is this garbage and why the hell are there commentators??? LOL.

In general, I think that Halo 5 itself will do good but it's not surpassing COD or BF on PS4. It's simply not what it once was but we'll see when the time comes.

I have three games in October for PS4 - Uncharted Collection, AC Syndicate and Dragon Quest Heroes. Uncharted Collection bundle will sell. AC will help the console sell some even though it's not as wanted as last year's Unity was pre-release and im sure at least DQH will add a few sales as well.

September belongs to PS4 and I think that PS4 wins October in the same way they won August. Only difference is that the totals will be higher for both consoles. November is what im really looking forward to. And not so much console sales, I want to see how Tomb Raider does because that has the potential to bomb sales wise and not even get close to what Microsoft's expectations are and I for one, would love to know what those exact expectations are. Funny thing is that Microsoft should have went after Fallout 4 instead of Tomb Raider but that's just my own personal opinion.

OP sales were never going to be big , if i remember right was the second one not DD only ?
UD number don't look to bad if it can have some legs it will do okay .

Sony is prioritizing profit and considering the current company condition they're right.

PS4 in my view is not doing so hot in USA, but worldwide it's maintaining a good pace.

i highly doubt ps4 wins october. no way a uncharted remaster w/o mp kills halo 5's effect, and neither of the two other games will really help ps that much--syndicate has like zero hype and no bundle like unity did and nobody's heard of dqh in the mainstream.

also no way would ms be able to afford timed exclusivity on fo4.

While that's true, it's also true that it's not like Sony is not offering deals with games included at 399.99 across several retailers. And, IIRC the basic PS4 pack includes TLOU: Remastered anyway, which increases the value of the platform while retaining the price. And, this month, PS4 had major deals, with Madden playing a major role in them, IIRC. But, still, I wonder when PS4 will get a lower price, and how that will influence sales. I fear both lack of family titles being strong on the platform + sales of major games being already so high on the platform (I mean, much quicker adoption's speed compared to last gen) could affect negatively the % of baseline increase v.s. before the price cut, but a 299.99$ would surely give a boost at first and give even a slight increase in the baseline anyway, unless the adoption's speed is even quicker than what we thought.

They only number they gave in that timeframe was "11 million gameplay sessions," whatever that means. It did do >2.5mm units in it's first NPD though.

This is the longest a sony system has gone without a price drop, bundles help but nothing beats a $100 price drop .
At this point i think people are expecting it to happen and there sales slowing down shows that which is normal.

Not performing like the market leader? It's sold more consoles YoY than any other console in history excluding the Wii...without a price drop. Just imagine if the PS4 was $249.

I believe this generation will be traditional. PS4 and Xbox One will have it's peak in the first half (or exactly in half) and start to fall.

Can't see this gen lasting more than 6 years, maybe even less if Microsoft want to jump in front again.

If I were Sony, I would consider a Nathan Drake Collection bundle for $349 in October. I think this would sell extremely well and would steal a ton of momentum away from Microsoft during Halo month. Plus, they'll need a price drop within the next year anyway. I think doing so in the holiday season would help take some serious sales from Xbox and would help maintain their image as market leader and 'cool console' to have.

It's not selling better in USA than PS2 and Wii, the last two market leaders at this point in 6th and 7th generations.

Have to wait and see. I disagree with the part about Microsoft not being able to afford timed exclusivity on Fallout 4.

True but it also more expensive than both which is a factor .
I know some people saying PS4 not going to drop there price this year.
That would mean 26 months without a official price cut which is crazy .
Yeah Wii did that but they were cheaper to begin with .

Well it's the second Remake on the system and IV was a mainline entry; a drop is to be expected since al Mystery Dungeon was released this year. Previous debuts shouldn't be too much higher. Also remember that on DS Devil Survivor was considered a success with a debut around 21k units.

i mean they could afford it, but it'd be stupidly expensive

it's not hard to imagine nadella going lolno if it's too massive

plus you think people hate them for tomb raider think how much people would hate them for fo4

not to mention even if zenimax would say yes doesn't mean the people at bethesda would be happy with it

the decent increase in console sales would not be worth the cost, of both mind and money

We have to consider that consoles are more expensive now. Look at 360 and PS3 price history.
