To me it just gives people that may have missed some games for whatever reason a new chance to buy them as well as people nostalgic for them or fans of the series to play them again without needing to buy additional hardware.

To me it just gives people that may have missed some games for whatever reason a new chance to buy them as well as people nostalgic for them or fans of the series to play them again without needing to buy additional hardware.

Just because developers and publishers could theoretically "pump out" remasters (not reboots, which is something totally different), doesn't mean people will actually buy all of them.
Some of them will sell quite well, like TLoU has or like GTA will, but others won't see such success. Tomb Raider didn't do all that amazingly (it did okay) and I doubt Sleeping Dogs will do well either.

Call me a hypocrite, I didn't like the game that much but even I would buy if they did a PC version like Kojima is doing. Downsampled, MSAA and all the bells and whistles? I could stomach Lightning with that. Would also buy a japanese DLC, just to get rid of the english terrible voices.

I would be totally fine with more PS2-era remasters. Last-gen updates are meh. I just wish devs would add some new content to the package besides simply improving or cleaning up what they already released. Especially with the still-paltry lineup on the new systems, I think anyone making a MGS2: Substance-style expansion/remaster of a proven favorite would move a lot of units.

They don't really have to do numbers like the ones you listed to have successful returns, the budgets aren't that big to begin with.

Unless it's bundled everywhere, Smash isn't selling 2 mill in one week. Christmas will help it though if it's near.

Same for Zelda. But for Zelda there's an even lower chance of selling that much.

It's ok for the classic status type games, or those that have mass popularity even now. I mean I'd welcome an Uncharted Trilogy Remaster, the Halo Collection, Ocarina of Time redone, GTA V, Bioshock, maybe even Demon Soul's etc. But games like Beyond Two Soul's or God of War Ascension, I just don't see the point.
Well, I was talking about eighth gen platforms... At this point, the only hope for Vita is that PlayStation TV somehow takes off because it's $140.

It was quite a while wasnt it? i dont remember exactly as that was a long time ago but i think it took quite awhile.
Im not saying console gaming is doomed btw, i think these sales show its healthy, but maybe only for two console makers at one time (for the core gamer market), more im just stating that the comarison of first 9 months of xbo+ps4>360+ps3 doesnt even come close to telling the entire story

~6.491 PS4s and XBOs sold in their first 8 months. Difference is month 9.
I think an Uncharted collection would do pretty well, especially leading up to Uncharted 4

Yeah, that would do well. Especially if they are going to make a sequel this generation - keeps people interested in the franchise.
Hell, why not remake all the Madden games pre-2007 while you're at it. They need a fresh coat of paint.

Top game was Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour under 70K. Maybe some bundle came out? Price drop wasn't until October 2003.

It's Square so they would conclude that nobody wants console games anymore and use it as evidence to support more terrible mobile games like FF: ATB. They will never understand how Bravely Default somehow outperformed their precious pink haired goddess.
