It seems like a bizarre PR? One month of not doing well as the competition (but still good numbers)
PR from games companies always lack subtlety. Be it MS or Sony, they're brutally transparent and reflects their state of mind.

Eh... I don't really know why things like Xenoblade, Splatoon etc. are mentioned in terms of driving Nintendo revenue.
RE: hardware I expect Wii U will be back to 2013 numbers or thereabouts next year. While (despite being a year later in the life cycle) PSP 2010 numbers are probably in stall for the 3DS; although that depends on reception to n3DS I suppose.
But it's failure thus far to really reignite interest in the Japanese market (depending upon the tracker it's holding flat or down Y/Y) doesn't lend confidence to western markets.
But then I'd probably agree, other than Amiibo bringing in new accessories dollars, I don't really know what else they can do but grin and bear it.
Close CBOAT, but no cigar!

Welcome to yesterday
Yeah, there will be more games....but it'll take like 5-6 2015 games to equal a Smash or Mario Kart.
I'm just saying random numbers, but I could see the bigger early games (Yoshi, Kirby, maybe X, maybe Splatoon) opening at 100-200K. It takes a few of those to equal Smash. (What did Hyrule open at again?)
So the lineup will be better, but revenue will likely be way down.
Ah someone else clarified? Great, I didn't want to read 44 pages of stuff.
Not reading the whole thread, but was the 7 - 10k difference BS?
Yes, real difference is ~400k.
144 pages.
...
Are you actually posting from yesterday?
I think it was close to 200k with digital....
You guys know, Cboat could have been saying "difference is 710k" meaning the difference in the US is now 710k. However, since he likes to be so criptic with his messages, he threw that "7-10k" or the "-" to break the number up, then got banned.
The 710k difference could be pretty darn close to what the difference really is in the US. I know there are some Cboat haters, I know many were quick to throw him under the bus, but his own crazy writing style could have been the reason he got banned. However, he had so many chances to verify what the hell he was talking about, whether the difference was in the US overall or just the difference in November, Bish even asked, and there never was clarification. He did have chances to follow up with further clarification, and didn't. When you have a chance to prove yourself on GAF, or clarify, and you dont, you lose.
Eh... I don't really know why things like Xenoblade, Splatoon etc. are mentioned in terms of driving Nintendo revenue. I'd imagine Zelda will struggle to bring in what Smash is doing. My impression is that the brand has weakened over time, although I could be wrong on that (anyone have past Zelda's handy?)

This has been said a million times, but the message was clear and he had plenty of time to clarify (like say people were wrong) or PM a mod.You guys know, Cboat could have been saying "difference is 710k" meaning the difference in the US is now 710k. 95 ltd retail.Don't suppose we have any updates on Bayo 2 do we?

The difference is not 710k either.

I think you underestimate the overall appeal of Xenoblade & Splatoon. They are no Mario sellers but they will still drive revenue to the parent company nonetheless.
A proper marketing campaign to Fire Emblem: Awakening & positive critical response brought Nintendo's most niche series to new heights - one could achieve the same results for Xenoblade X.
Nintendo's mantra for FY15 & FY16 is profitability first and build-up cash reserves - that's what they will do.
3DS' performance is where I pause and wonder. I don't know what they will do - I sincerely hope they signed a co-marketing deal with Bandai Namco to bring Youkai Watch to the West. They need new blood as 3DS is on its last footing - Pokemon and Smash are barely holding the fort.
About Zelda's performance - I think interest is there (Hyrule Warriors performed better than I imagined for a spin-off title). It will most likely achieve first-week sales comparable to Super Smash Wii U but Zelda's legs these days are cut short, so LTD ain't going to touch that SSBU.
Sorry, but that's incorrect because the LTD difference between PS4 and XB1 is not between 705-715K.
So there's no way that he would have been referencing that.
Yup. I think 101 was also in that ballpark or that Bayo had surpassed it.Not bad! It was at 68k right last month? So it roughly retained half, so not a big drop IMO.

I don't think I'm underestimating them. I think they're comparatively niche titles relative to what released this year. They may be receiving positive reception on places like here, but as did the likes of Bayonetta. And they'll bring revenue to Nintendo obviously, but I don't know if I'd see these titles driving software growth over this year..I think you underestimate the overall appeal of Xenoblade & Splatoon. "We are thrilled with the incredible momentum seen at retail heading into the holiday shopping season. PS4 is the cumulative leader in hardware sales and was #1 on the Amazon Video Games Bestseller list on Black Friday. On the network side, November was the biggest month ever in PlayStation Store history with a nearly 50 percent increase in unique visitors compared to last year. We couldnt have done any of this without the support of our fans. The immediate success of PlayStation Experience and celebration of the 20th Anniversary demonstrates tremendous dedication to the PlayStation platform. We are humbled by the loyalty of our fans and look forward to amazing them in 2015."
Actually, EA was 5th this month. That doesn't happen often.
Activision, Nintendo, Take2, Ubisoft, EA.
DAI was actually like their most surprising sales driver.
only 2 weeks counted compared to 4 weeks to the previous games, and up over both previous iterations, despite negative franchise sentiment? still baffles my mind that people think this game launched poorly. It's just people only thinking in terms of lists, and not context
I fell for CBOAT and he fell for the greater good (assuming he got perm'd).

Well, maybe if they released Battlefield this year...

5 month ban. CBOAT appears unpermable.

Next year's big title is Zelda, and I don't see it matching what Smash will do. Titles like Kirby and Yarn Yoshi have been strong too in the past, but then as was Donkey Kong.
That's before considering there isn't anything to fill the void of Mario Kart.
So his ban will be lifted right around E3. Interesting.
It's out of their fiscal, isn't it?
Depends if it's Before or after March, I don't recall the date offhand. If it's before March or early it won't matter as much.
If after, Rough year for a lot of people
Hardline should still do well in March I suspect? Do they have anything else coming in the first half? Could be good for them towards the end of the year (FY)
I just checked, YE 31/03, BFH is out 20th March

It's not like they posted how many elephants worth of weight they sold in PS4s or how many cars were jacked in GTA5 or anything stupid like that. Their PR statement is one of the most vanilla pieces of fluff I've seen in some time and is completely unremarkable as far as these things go.Eesh, it's like my mom always said there are times to speak and other times when its best to pretend you were involved in a serious accident that left you eating your food through a straw and mute.
Oh cool, telling date.
When you see that, that typically means:
Damn this game needs a lot of work. But we really need that money this fiscal. So let's give it as much time as we can and still report as much of the bulk of the revenue as we can this fiscal, because we we need the cash and also that's what we spent money on it for
