Nvidia Kepler - Geforce GTX680 Thread - Now with reviews

So you think that's the one to get?

I've always been an Evga fan, but I trust your opinion.
eVGA is great with their community and warranty, but a custom fan, larger PCB, factory OC, and 6+8 pin power (doubt it matters, but) is too good too pass up at the same price point with the same 3 year warranty.
That GB or the ASUS Direct Cu.

I can't go back to stock coolers, noise doesn't fit well with me.

*GB 670 is OOS on Amazon, buy the ASUS DirectCU II as soon as it goes up imo.

By now I'd be shocked if they didn't just call it the 780 or something...

There are no real numbers left for them to use...we alreayd have the 670, 680, 690...so unless they call it the 699 (which ironically I think will be the price for it) it will most likely be called the 780.

Why the SC?

Note this is a 3rd party on the US site and TigerDirect is notorious for charging you for items they do not have in stock FYI.

NCIX I think has some stock up, but it's pricey.

As long as they get it to me before the PC version of Max Payne 3 hits in a few weeks ill be okay

Waiting on Newegg to list the 670, and I'm going for it. Good thing I waited, can't beat that performance/dollar.

Now, from my understanding is there any reason to buy the SC versions of this card due to the on the fly changes built into the cards? I'm reading mixed things here, with some saying a SC version isn't worth the extra money because it's capped overall?

No reason for the "FTW" version of the card either I suppose then, outside of the nicer look?

yea just ended up getting the EVGA 670 2gig. Def a step up from my ATI 4850 512mb x2, and i can always get another one if i want to SLI it, but im rather confident the 670 will be able to handle anything i throw at it at 1920 x1200

Glad I managed to get one of the Gigabyte 670s. From reviews it looks like it'll be fairly quiet as the fans don't have to run fast to cool it. Perfect for my water cooling setup. Surprised it was only $399 when it was rumored to be around $425. I probably should've went with 1 day shipping but too late. Now to wait till saturday. :D

Big thanks to Haz for spamming the link in aim. Ran from my bosses office like a madman and made it just in time.

Looks like Memory Express has them in stock in their online store, now which brand to buy? :S All my GPUs have blown hot air back in the case, i think i might give the EVGA a try since it blows the air out of the case.

Amazon doesn't have the DirectCU up yet :( And they are sold out of the Gigabyte. Only two cards I was considering so I hope I don't miss when the DirectCU does show up... Damn these early launches, much prefer midnight the previous day :p

Off to do some review reading before work :D

Do you guys think a 670 is a nice enough step up from a 5850 to justify the price?

Also, how much should I list an xfx 5850 black edition on ebay?

From where.

Finland ;) . The store I bought it from gave me till the end of next month to actually pay for it so it's all good.

I can get about 300eur for my 580 so a 150 euros for the upgrade doesn't feel too bad. The non TOP model was 20e less but I figured I'd got with a TOP card this time. Feel pretty good about the Asus DirectCU II cards, this is my third one (first one I bought was a 560 Ti).

I think I'll try my luck with the ASUS... if I can snatch one in time when they go on amazon.

Up till now I've ALWAYS used evga... but I don't think it really matters, and asus/gigabyte have good reputations

Don't fail me GAF. please post the link if you find it first!

I'm conflicted about that too.

I was able to get a Gigabyte this morning, but after seeing the Direct CU II, I'm wondering if I should have held out for that. Based on a couple of reviews, it seems the Gigabyte runs almost 10 degrees C cooler than the ASUS (63 C compared to 72 C), but the ASUS's core clock is almost 80 Mhz higher (1058 compared to 980).

Honestly, I'm just happy that I was able to get one, but I always second guess myself.

it's hard seeing all these cards w/ superior performance coming out (I'm still on a 5770) whilst knowing I won't really play anything that makes use of them -- Diablo3 ran just fine on my PC, and more than likely my CPU (Q9300) is going to become a bottleneck first.

How much do prices usually come down for the vga card generation leaps?

Got a link to the reviews?

670 is well priced at £300-350. will buy and sell my 570. might even buy two.

This sounds like a plan, do you recommend the KFA cards? which are the best manufacturers?

Also where do you usually sell your cards on in the UK? don't really wanna use ebay!

amazon out of stock on all 670 already (well, the ones that were listed... still no asus). I thought the stock was supposed to be better for these? -__- i know they stagger the stock somewhat, but still, man...

Why the hell did I grab a GTX 680 on Monday??? The performance gap is so close on these two cards, that i don't really understand Nvidia's pricing on this. I think it was the fact that actually seeing a 680 in stock was seeing a unicorn and I couldn't help myself. Oh well...only $100 I guess, plus I'll have it tomorrow for a weekend full of DayZ!

For Asus cards what's the difference between DirectCU models and DirectCU TOP models?

Edit: Looks like the TOP models are clocked higher out of the box and go through higher QC testing?

The DCUII GTX 670 will probably be faster than my stock GTX 680. :(

edit: yep

edit: holy shit

You'd be crazy to buy anything other than the Asus (or the Gigabyte, if it performs similarly).
