Nvidia Kepler - Geforce GTX680 Thread - Now with reviews

http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/NVIDIA/GeForce_GTX_670_SLI/
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 SLI is an amazing pixel-crunching solution. Priced at around $800, or 20% cheaper than NVIDIA's Kepler flagship GeForce GTX 690, the solution is found to be just 2% slower. Since the GTX 690 performs near-identical to GTX 680 SLI, the inference carries on: it's just 2% slower while being 20% cheaper. As a result, the two other costlier solutions are smoked in the price/performance equation.

The DCUII GTX 670 will probably be faster than my stock GTX 680. :(

edit: yep

You'd be crazy to buy anything other than the Asus (or the Gigabyte, if it performs similarly).

Sweet Jesus.
The DCII 670 really is the card to get.
Ive been loyal to gainward for years now, so ill wait a while till i see their GLH 670...if it cant match the DCII then ill abandon them.

The 670 is the real deal, look at all dat performance in dem reviews. Especially the Asus DCUII.

I'll be getting this card when I upgrade my CPU.

I'm a little concerned about the the cooling on the Asus and Gigabyte models. I'm sure they're quieter and more effective but they're not blowers so they just blow on the heatsinks directly (upward). Doesn't that mean hot air would just come up and out around the card, and that's the air that cools the CPU? Might that have a bad effect on CPU and case temps?

So whats the big difference between the SuperClocked EVGA and the Asus?

The Asus is 10% faster and about 65% quieter.

I would seriously not even consider a stock cooler for the GTX 670. I would straight up trade my GTX 680 for an Asus GTX 670 in a heartbeat. It's a damned good card.

I find it kind of funny how I've been keeping an eye on the amazon stock all day and the Galaxy cards have been available the entire time, while others cards have faded in and out of availability.

Is Galaxy really that bad? :P

Can't believe the GTX 670 is about 5% slower and $100 less, god damn it Nvidia how could you do this? Lesson learned I'm never getting kicked in the nuts like this again.

Edit: With the Asus DCUII GTX 670 its more powerful with a cheaper price. Damn cold blooded.

Ya I think most 680 owners are pretty pissed right now, especially the ones like me that only finally found a 680 two weeks ago. It was worst for me too, I got my EVGA SC for $560, which is like $40 over MSRP.

Holycrap @ 670 review! :O

I wasn't even thinking about an upgrade this card generation, but damn, to even punchout your own topdog like that for a $100 less?!

Quick, anyone know how much I would get for an unlocked ATI 6950 to 6970 2GB card!

Has there been any 680 OC vs. 670 Asus OC comparisons as of yet? I know that my 680's boost higher than the Asus OC does, but just wondering if any reviewers have commented about this. A good OC vs OC comparison would be good to see.

Also remember this Asus dumps it's hot air into your case..I know some don't like that, but if you have good air-flow in your case it should not matter too much.

WTH @ the DCUII being faster than the 680 and 20% cheaper.. seriously. And whisper quiet.. wtf.

That review and benches are fucking ridiculous!

Nvidia didn't only put AMD in hot water, they jumped in the lava pit as well by making the 670 pretty much the clear choice out of the current Keplers.

DAT ASUS 670

Dual slot too vs. the triple slot behemoth that was the DCII 580. It's looking like early 680 owners got screwed big time

"With so many product launches happening in the last few weeks, we felt you’d find it useful to have a look at this recap of some of the benefits of our current AMD Radeon™ HD 7900 series graphics products.

Both the AMD Radeon™ HD 7970 and AMD Radeon™ HD 7950 graphics cards are available in volume from all major etailers, with plenty of overclocked and AMD Eyefinity Technology designs from our AIBs. The AMD Radeon™ HD 7970 is available for as low as $479, while the AMD Radeon™ HD 7950 is available for as low as $399. We expect to continue to have strong supply on all of our 28nm GPUs going forward. In contrast, both GTX 680 and GTX 690 have not been supplied in any significant volume and continue to be unavailable at major stores like Newegg in the US and Alternate Europe (as of noon, Wednesday May 8th).

...

Given these features and advantages, and that NVIDIA keeps their recent Kepler-based products at paperware-status, we feel Radeon products are uniquely positioned in the market for continued success.

Dat PR statement. The 670 has really put AMD in a hard spot.

I have a feeling the Asus GTX 670 would win that one.

The Asus GTX 680 is like 15% faster than other 680s. Seems like the Asus GTX 670 follows that trend.

sounds like:

AMD Radeon™. Because the card you really want is sold out everywhere LOL

(not that it ain't true, but still funny)

too many regular 680s don't overclock very well because they're pretty average chips that won't go far without overvolting. But Nvidia locked down all voltage control on the current 600 series cards in both hard and software (partly so they could make cheaper reference design boards I suspect). Even on the new 680 DC II with all its phases and whatnot you won't be able to overvolt without attacking it with a soldering iron.

So now there will be plenty of "lucky" good 670 chips clocking way higher than more expensive 680 chips, especially since they're slightly more energy efficient and the thermals play some part in the whole "boost" process as well.

At this point the 670 SLI really seems most attractive to me :p I'll just wait until I see what the prices for waterblocks are, as I might as well get a 690 if the final price ends up somewhat the same (because of the engineering on that thing).

I really was all set on the 680 DC II until I found out that doesn't really overclock better than any other card without warranty voiding modding :( only a slight bit of hope left for the EVGA 680 Classified ...
