Nvidia Kepler - Geforce GTX680 Thread - Now with reviews

Prices have dropped a little already here in NL, the EVGA OC card is 385 now, good stuff.

Still waiting for the Asus full length pcb version though. If you guys are of the opinion that the full pcb would be better.

waiting on amazon stock for the asus 670... anyone know if it is unusual for them to not put up all manufacturers at roughly the same time? wonder if it will even go on sale today...

Is the difference between PCIE 2.0 and 3.0 negligible for a 670?

I'm looking to upgrade my old 5870 to the Asus 670 and I'm board only supports 2.0x16 :(

everything i have read indicates 3.0 has no benefit with today's cards, even the nvidia 6XX series. should become more of a factor next gen, probably.

Amazon just removed a card actually, going from 7 to 6... I'm waiting for them to stock the Asus card too.

yup, i noticed that too! Well, back to F5ing while I chug away on coffee ^__^
Ble, thinking of getting rid of my 680 and grabbing two of those Asus cards. Feels bad.
hey, if I could have bought a 680 I would have... stock issues forced me into this position :P. these are all amazing cards, be happy!

Anyone with lot's of knowledge about the GPUs? Just wondering why the 680 sometimes is much better than the 7970 and others a lot worse?

Is it just the VRAM being "better" on 7970? MSAA and high res seem to always perform better on the 7970.

Why the SC?

Note this is a 3rd party on the US site and TigerDirect is notorious for charging you for items they do not have in stock FYI.

NCIX I think has some stock up, but it's pricey.

As long as they get it to me before the PC version of Max Payne 3 hits in a few weeks ill be okay

God damnit Hazaro you were right, they just changed my order status to BACK ORDERED. I mean, if I have to wait an extra week thats fine but God damn the product page still doesn't say this thing is out of stock.

what should I upgrade to now that everything is out?

I have a 1.5 gb 580 currently. I wanted to buy a 690, but I don't want to spend that much on a card with only 2gb of VRAM. I'm not willing to spend $1,200 on a 4 gb 690 either. I don't want any new card that only bumps the vram to 2gb.

I can wait a few weeks also if that is advisable. Wouldn't mind doing it in time for MP3.

Some games are better programmed for one architecture or the other.

7970 has more memory bandwidth because of 384 bit controller, coupled with an extra GB of RAM sometimes coming into play, that's why it does better at super high resolutions.

Your best bet is to get into contact with a local store and have them reserve one for you.

People who have good local hardware shops make me jealous :( I have a shitty one.

They carry a very limited number of parts, but everything is a generation old and is marked up ~50% beyond its actual price. I guess they make most of their money charging insane prices to keep people's old dinosaurs running.

What I wouldn't give to live close to a Fry's Electronics.

Maybe you can find an online shop you can call up?

I bought a 560Ti a year ago. So tempted to get a 670. Not sure which brand though. Always had EVGA but my first 560ti had a bad fan.

Think I'm going to order my new PC today. I have a 5850 that I'm going to sell, but can't wait to see this 670 in action.

Man...I think I would straight up trade my EVGA GTX 680 for an Asus GTX 670 right now...

You shouldn't, those reviews do not take into account of a 680 OC. If you OC your 680 to 1200, it should still be a tiny bit ahead of the asus 670. Obviously, the difference is so small that if you were to buy a new one now, the 670 would be a much better price.

So, the EVGA 670 shouldn't be what I have coming then and I should've waited for the ASUS card?

Give or take a few FPS, there is 12-15 FPS FPS difference between the ASUS 670 and the stock 670. I think it's 20$ more?

In some cases, it's faster than a 680.

All 670's will largely overclock the same, the DC2 cooler is just is a lot better of a design than the others out there. It still dumps the hot air back into the case but it keeps the GPU comparably as cool as other models while significantly reducing the noise.

Are there any sites that have reviewed both the Gigabyte and the Asus? Interested in comparing the two, especially noise and temps.
I need this too.

I doubt the ASUS is worth an extra £20, but I kinda want to pair my asus mobo with an asus card.

Any word on the Twin Frozr?

That's why I went with reg 670's. Many of the reviews pointed out OC caps would generally be the same speed in the end. Now, cooler design is another story.

The cooler design on the EVGA 670 looks a bit dodgy.

Holding out for the Asus version I think. But, no one's seen 'em yet, right?
nope... I've basically wasted the last 5 hours looking and hoping that they would show up somewhere. Didn't want to miss out like I have for the 680s that are still impossible to find at MSRP.

sigh. I could have gone to see The Avengers a second time like I originally planned.

So nice of Amazon to upgrade my 2 day shipping to overnight. It's going to be hard to concentrate at work when I'll have the Gigabyte 670 waiting for me at home.

Any idea if the EVGA superclocked model of the 670 will be as good as the asus one?

I'm probably going to wait for the 4GB 670 SC.

The Gigabyte GTX 670 is back in stock at Newegg:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125423

Ordered mines as soon as it was available again (like within 30 seconds)
My order is in the "packaging" state now! Hopefully there arent any problems!
Only $25 for overnight too :D

Cant wait to upgrade from this 570 to the 670 :D

Need a 670 that dumps air out of the case instead of in it.

I don't want to think of the headaches I'll have with the FT02

I really wish I could be content with the Gigabyte that I got, but all the news about the ASUS is driving me crazy. Someone find something negative about it to ease my mind!
