I mean, it's hard to say deblasio himself is insensitive when he basically sunk himself with white people because of the way he supported minorities in the election and in the months after visavis police brutality. His comment thought could easily be considered insensitive and or racist. I thought it was a funny joke though I can see why others wouldn't. Surprisingly risky in the week before a primary. Still I don't really think it's a big deal.

It would have worked better with Obama. But whatever.
George carlin...what would he be saying right now? I'm not sure.

honestly I have been on CP time many a nights, and joke about it with all of my friends. I would never say it on that stage though. I have to give it up to Hilary for that quick witted response. That is damn good.... dammmmmn good.

Hillary and DiBlasio made a racist joke while Clinton is in the middle of running for President. Seems pretty stupid.

When the story broke this morning, I thought there was no question that it was scripted. The whole event is a "shit on the mayor" event. It's like the White House Correspondents Dinner or a Roast or something. It's a :ooooo type event.

I thought the joke was harmless, even funny. I see now that it wasn't, so I think they should probably apologize because that'd be the right thing to do. But I guess I'm someone who is used to Deblasio every day, and maybe more importantly Deblasio haters...who say some of the nastiest things about his family ever.

The whole point of the joke is to get the gasps, and then Hilary comes in with the punch-line.

No, a tasteless, tactless and racist joke is bad, with or without laughs, but that's not what is happening here.

De Blasio didn't make a racist comment, it was a skit intended to make fun of out of tune white politicians who say stuff like "C.P. time" and it was a sort-of a roast against him, like the ones you see at the White House Correspondents Dinner. De Blasio just went on CNN and said it was a skit, not an actual comment or joke he came up with in the moment, it was prepared by the host of the show, he wouldn't say something like that and was poking fun at the people who do.

I'm leaving now, my planet (and job) needs me.

It's pretty clear it was a skit. The joke was racially charged and inappropriate though. It's as bad as if she said the joke that goes "what do you call a black man with a PhD?"

I'm curious as to how many people in this thread that are taken aback in anyway about this are Black. This is a SUPER COMMON joke among Black people. I'm not saying it was necessarily the best idea to make that sort of joke in this setting (though it was a roast dinner and not a formal/normal political event) but this is a whole bunch of "nothing" as a controversy. de Blasio isn't a secret racist LOL

For the NYC audience, they knew it was a joke since they know the context.
