I like how jr lied at every single part of this story but the GOP is sticking on the "but I didn't get anything" portion.

Journalist: "When were you aware of the meeting between Don Trump Jr. and Russian operatives?"

Trump: "Who?"

Journalist: "Your son, Don Trump Jr."

Trump: "You're saying my son but I don't know this person. Never met him. Maybe once or twice, briefly. Very briefly."

People talking about nothingburger, etc:

This is different from previous controversies because rather than pointing at a potential crime, this is a crime itself- possibly two, depending on how the statutes I've read suss out. That is a Big. Fucking. Difference.

Here's that 4th page some people missed.

It's truly incredible. It mentions directly that the Russian government is behind it and that they want to meet. And he does.

I'm not sure I understand the current strategy here. Why would you tweet this out? Has anything like this ever happened?

I'm in awe right now.

Maybe Don Jr. is laying groundwork for an insanity plea? /s

Fox spin I'm seeing right now

"We always talk about how Trump thinks like a businessman... This is where the business background hurts, because from a business perspective you would take the meeting."
It's almost like he was completely unqualified for the position and lacks any moral compass.

I'm in total awe right now.

because he simply doesn't understand. He's still acting like his dad is CEO of Trump INC.

he doesnt understand the ramifications, they changed nothing in how they act and behave.

Public office let alone the presidents seat has microscopes upon microscopes.

We live in a time where the president's son not only admitted to a crime on Twitter, but a day later also posted the evidence of that crime.

I was actually laughing like a maniac reading this.
The sentence: “This is obviously very high level and sensitive information but is part of Russia and its government’s support for Mr. Trump.” is directly confirming the relationship between the Trump campaign and Russia which they have been denying for a year now and he STILL thought it was a good idea to post it and confirm NTY's sources.

There will be big repercussions here. Not just for Trump Jr., but for the whole Trump staff, where plausible deniability and credibility about their relationship with Russia in general, is just completely out the window now. This will be huge problem for them when the ongoing investigation starts turning into trials.

The NY Times had it and was going to publish, Don Jr. wanted to beat them to the punch and provide his own spin on it first.

What makes no sense is his explanation that the attorney did not represent the Russian government, yet she wanted to talk about adoptions and the Magnitsky Act. Like wut? Why would a non-government-affiliated attorney want to talk about U.S. sanctions on Russia and the Russian reaction of suspending U.S. adoptions of Russian children? Makes literally no sense at all.

Real talk - could this be our generation's Watergate scandal? I don't think anyone with common sense doubts what Trump Sr has done to get to the White House, but is this building to an actual impeachment or are we going to end up with the GOP refusing to acknowledge this and Trump just keeps on going, safe in the knowledge that literally nothing short of murder is going to get him out of the presidency?

For a country that famously persecuted anyone with a whiff of a link to Russia I can't help but laugh at the reality of Russian puppets sitting in the White House and the ignorant idiots who put them there.

Laugh, and despair.

Trump Jr's "if it's what you say I love it especially later in the summer" is direct, incontrovertible evidence of the desire to collude. Kushner and Manafort were cc'ed in on these emails, so they straight up lied when questioned about attempted Russian interference.

All that's left is for someone to roll over on Trump himself regarding the "33,000 emails" bombshell tweet later that day- and I'm betting anything it's Manafort.

The Congress members saying "I would have done it too" aren't doing to downplay and protect Trump.

They're doing it to protect themselves, odds are a huge swath of members are complicit.

Back to the he is fucking stupid so it's ok spin?

Jesus Christ. Any American who thinks working with a foreign government to win elections is ok should be kicked out. Go live in Russia.

Because the NYT played Jr. like a fiddle. So he had no recourse, he even asked NYT to not run this story until he could make a statement first, which the NYT refused. He then released them, because he had no other choice.

Its enough to send McCain from "disturbed" to "deeply troubled".

The problem is that the media and the left has been painting him as the devil for like 2 years. It's been constant. The world was supposed to end on inauguration day if they were right.

6 months later and the world hasn't ended. We're still here. And the left and the media are still at it.

To put it simply, it's the modern version of The Boy Who Cried Wolf. So yeah, these people are done and will not believe you unless something catastrophic happens.
Quoted for a new page everyone can appreciate this insane post

There's also ZERO reason to even believe that part of the narrative. He lied about the meeting. Then walked that back. Lied that he knew what it was about, then walked that back. He's gaslighted this whole thing, and at this point, I'm sure they did get something from the meeting.

The President's son literally just tweeted out emails showing that the GOP colluded with Russia to help themselves win the election.

Is this real life? How is it possible that everyone who holds power in this party is incomprehensibly daft?

It's painfully ironic to have heard them talk about how corrupt Hillary was, when this was all going on in the background.

Very. But it won't sway republicans.

I mean, what will at this point.

Does it matter if it sways Republicans?

It seems like the feds could arrest Donald Trump Jr today if they wanted to, and either file charges or get him to turn against his dad.

If you're opposed to Trump, either outcome would be fantastic.

They might not have a direct evidential connection to the top dog yet, but they could start going after his family at any time. That's huge, and Republicans in Congress can't do anything about it.

Real talk: This has the potential to be much larger than Watergate, which would be nice, because it might finally put an end to attaching "-gate" to every scandal. From now on we can refer to them as "-trump"s.

The only explanation I have for Jr doing this is that nothing in that email suggests Donald knew about it. Is he doing this to protect him? Maybe they know someone has to take the fall.

This makes Watergate look insignificant in comparison. Easily the greatest political scandal in the history of the United States.

This is what it's like when getting out in front of something to make yourself look better backfires.

I was speaking to some PR people this morning. "You get out ahead of stories like no user selectable character, or a game only being ten hours long...but this?"
