I'd think any benefit Bannon gets from forcing out Kushner is outweighed by the damage this story does to the administration as a whole.

Yup. I'm hoping this leads to a new oppo drop soon that confirms Trump knew about the meeting. Especially if there's something that proves he knew about it in advance and gave Junior the go-ahead for the meeting.

At a certain point, if Bannon thinks its all over, he'd be happy to burn the presidency to the ground, knowing he did well to disrupt the American political system as much as he possible could.

If you mean the singer then because he peaked at Born in the USA but if you mean the GAF poster I have no idea because he's intellectually honest and consistent.

There are a lot of different worlds the current WH staff comes from. Trump-world, the Breitbarters, the party people, career military people, etc. They all have different loyalties, and only a small number of them are truly beholden to Trump himself.

They might believe that Donald Jr taking all the flack and either weathering the storm or pleading down to a lesser charge is the best way forward. Either way, Donald has the pardon in his back pocket. Even without the awful Scooter Libby precedent, it wouldn't hurt him among his diehard fans, though I imagine his credibility will be completely toast among any self proclaimed "moderates".

This is true. But there's so many fairly major players in all this, it feels like it'll just be a delay. Well, I guess Trump could just pardon everyone, though. Wouldn't put it past him.

I fucking hate Junior more than Trump and that says something. At least Trump is president for better or worse. Junior is just a fucking leech that does nothing but kiss his dad's ass at every opportunity. I don't think he has had a single original thought in his life. Also, his haircut is fucking insulting for a self-professed "billionaire".

Bannon knows full well that the GOP would never allow him to enact his vision, he consider(ed) them pretty much the #1 enemy standing in the way. He probably never thought they would actually win, and if they did probably never figured how he would stick them to the wall to get his things done. Plus things haven't been going his way at all, a smart Trump would have acted quick early on to carry on their little fascist revolution but the steam has run out, and Kushner and the GOP are standing in Bannon's way.

Bannon knows already that his future is after Trump, that Trump can't get the country to where he wanted. When Trump goes down, Bannon will pick up the staff and tell his supporters that they can all see that the system needs to be overthrown. Trump's fall at this point is the end of a chapter and the beginning of a new one for Bannon, which is to start a movement that would not be under the GOP.
