The fuckers knew this was wrong. That's why they didn't disclose these meetings during security clearances.

They totally made a deal. Or at the very least they are blackmailed and compromised

Remember when everyone laughed at Romney when he said Russia was our greatest threat?

No one's laughing now.

People love bringing that up, but at the time, it really was a joke. Russia really is, in the grand scheme of things, nothing anymore. No one foresaw how far Putin would go in his agenda, and he got really lucky in investing in cyber warfare to the degree he did before many of his enemies did. I don't honestly even think Romney saw that, at that point, I think he was just trying to raise some old Reds paranoia in the right.

Establishment GOP could be implicated. At the time Priebus was trying his hardest to smooth things out between wary GOP leadership and Trump's campaign. Surely Priebus being briefed on the leaked emails would result in him going to GOP establishment figures, donors, etc and telling them to calm down, something is about to happen.

Yeah, feels that way. It's been feeling that way for awhile, but definitely seems the pressure has built a little more this past week or so.

I agree that the Russian threat is nowhere near as prevalent as it was in the Cold War, but I'm not sure I would go so far as to say they aren't a threat at all. I'm not talking about like a Russian invasion of America or Europe or anything, but they seem to enjoy meddling in problematic situations such as Syria and Ukraine to further their own goals. Which definitely leads to problems. Plus with all this election stuff, it's clear they don't mind meddling with superpowers like America, so that's of course another big problem.

I still think our greatest threat right now is China.

Paul Ryan's joke about Trump getting money from Russia was 6 days later.

Priebus is a fuckboy for real for that nonsense that came out of his mouth on Sunday.

Learning that he was in the building just makes it worse.

I think skepticism over Russian threat naturally assumed that no politician would sell us out for cheap political points or foreign money when there's plenty of opportunities for both right here.

I didn't mean that in the sense of a threat. They are definitely a threat due to their aggressive use of cyber warfare, there is no doubt. I mean more in global standing. Gas station with an army and all that.

If their undoing is brought by the existence of an email, I'll have to eat a lifetime supply of hats to make up for my doubts about there being a benevolent good.

I mean, what? Bannon has no future without Trump.

Yeah he does. Haven't you paid attention? The Trump supporters won't go away and then vote for Pence with a smile on their faces if Trump is forced out of office. They'll be mad as hell and Bannon will pick it up from there, if not him directly someone else he'll work with.

This story doesn't end with Trump out of office, it's the beginning of a new movement. Trump in office is what is holding them back, it gives them a reason to play along. When you take that away from them, they'll lash out at all of Washington. All those little groups will start coalescing into something that will attack "the establishment". Out with the Tea Party, in with something worst that isn't really about politics.

If true, this immediately cements this as the biggest political scandal in American history. An entire major party involved in an attempt by a hostile foreign power to disrupt elections. The implications are apocalyptic.
