The first match wasn't anything to write home about, but at least it was mercifully short. But the Reigns v Wyatt match? Nothing made sense. Unless I missed something from the promo package, what was the story exactly? As far I could tell, it was the basic Wyatt feud - which is to say he cuts the same, faux-cerebral promos, which rarely ever feed into the psychology of his matches. His ring-work is nonsensical, with none of the traps he set up in the HIAC actually having any purpose, other than to clearly set up another convoluted spot for Reigns. It just made him look like a complete idiot, as he stumbled around the ring. Did he use any of the weapons for any sort of symbolic/considered attack of Reigns? No, he just did it because it was that was what was supposed to happen. And that's what has always been my problem with his character. The presentation is really inconsistent.
Even if the contents of his promos did allude to something (and we know they almost always never do), it would rarely be reflected in the matches. He doesn't wrestle like a unique character, but rather a pretty generic big man.
Not that I'm putting the blame squarely on Wyatt, because it was badly-paced all round, and never built towards anything. Unless I'm clearly out of touch, it was probably the most undeserving "this is awesome" chant ever.
