Octodad: Dadliest Catch Launch trailer. Steam, Humble, and GOG on January 30th, 2014

I will wait for impressions to see if I should jump in... tech demo was never that good to me, so I'm curious if a fully fleshed out version will do it for me.

At this point, I might be sold for the atmosphere alone. Every piece of promotion for this is fantastically absurd, and just hilarious. Even if the whole octopus gambit gets old after an hour or so, I might keep going for the story & writing.

I cannot wait for the hopeful March release date on PS4. It looks so delightfully absurd and charming and I'm sure it will be a blast. Sony has kindled a love of indie games I would have never gotten to play otherwise because my laptop is old garbage. At this stage in my life I seem to be looking forward to these quirky little titles more than the big AAA games.

I just realized that the game isn't actually called "Deadliest" Catch. I've had it wrong the whole damn time.

But yes, I'll probably be picking this up on PS4. Looks like one that will be a good family game. Not for multiplayer, but just to get everyone laughing while one person plays.

Definitely has my curiosity.

But no price? Even though it's coming out in a couple weeks?

What do people expect this to cost, about?

I'm angling for an April-ish PS4 purchase, and Octodad will be one of my day 1 downloads. The kids are really excited for it, they love the premise and that song has been a fixture around the house since we first watched a trailer a few months ago. Lots of food money coming. :D

That trailer is just begging for gifs.

FUCK YES

OCTODAD: DADLIEST CATCH IS GAME OF THE MOTHERFUCKING FOREVER

GIVE TO RADISKULL

Lovely trailer. Though I wonder how controlling the character'll be like...

Download the original student game here and find out!

Truth is that we're running out of money to pay rent, eat food, and those sorts of things so we wanted to get it out on PC first to give ourselves some cushion to finish the PS4 version.

will it help you guys out if i buy like twelve copies

(seriously when can i preorder on steam)

Sorry March is still a ways off, ya'll. We're doing our best to get it out the door ASAP.

We'd been working on the PC release long before we hooked up with Sony, and we promised it to Kickstarter backers first.

Hope you enjoyed the trailer!

It's not because of an Unkown reason. It's because Sony's QA is hot garbage in a landfill.

:)

OT - Having watched the Octodad videos I'm still not sure I know wtf the game actually is .

Still looking for games my 6 year old could have fun with , if nothing else I'm sure he'd get a few laughs out of it. March is gonna be an expensive month :/

After thinking about it, I would love an album of Octodad music inspired by the game from different artists produced by the music lead on this game. I think that would be a wonderful project should the game ever get big enough.

That trailer was fantastic, I was going to get this, but the trailer bumped it up to a day 1 purchase. So much charm :), you guys have done a kickass job.

This is one of the games I've been most looking forward to since launch day. My roommates and I had a good laugh at the clip we watched. Day 1 for sure.

I don't think designing your game around one silly gag is a good idea, because the whole "he's an octopus AND NOBODY KNOWS" thing has become pretty stale to me. Sort of like Lococycle.

So Octodad has local co-op for 2-4 players. Awesome.

Each person controls a set of limbs.

Tibitoski also said the game features a four-player Roulette mode. In this mode, every time an objective is completed, the limbs each player controls will be randomly switched without indicating who is controlling what. For example, a player using the right leg could suddenly be controlling the left arm, and players will need to figure out for themselves who is controlling what. This mode can be toggled on and off.

I'm not sure the game is that heavily plot driven.

It's basically QWOP/surgeon simulator with Cephalopods and those were both lots of fun and this looks fun too.

Fuck it, this is the OT for the time being until someone makes it.

Played for 40 minutes on Hard difficulty. Made some coffee, stopped because got class in a few hours and wanted to make some gifs. Off the bat, I wouldn't recommend mouse and keyboard. Took me 10 minutes to get to the bowtie. As soon as I switch to controller, instantly clicks kinda like Mirror's Edge where the legs are the triggers, right stick is up and down for arm, left stick is for back and forth so when you need to put on your hat or bowtie on.

Made me chuckle a lot. I've put up the playable opening credits with that fantastic song, yeah take that Phil!

I can wait for the PS4 version.
I can wait for the PS4 version.
I can wait for the PS4 version.
I can wait for the PS4 version.
I can't wait for the PS4 version.
Fuck it, I'll buy it twice because I have no impulse control.

This game is crazy. I don't think I'd have time to put up with the gameplay with seems very demanding, but I'll definitely watch a play through of this.

Octodad is a secret hero for the oppressed, the hidden, and the hurting

"We think about it, but we’re not trying to shove it anyone’s face. You can take what you want from it," he said. "Whether that’s having fun and being silly for a couple of hours, or getting deep into the story and relating to him on a personal level. But we’re not trying to make people confront these things, it’s what people pull out of it from playing and talking to us."

Huh, I guess I should play more of the game to see why people are making those kind of interesting interpretations like this Imposter Syndrome and how the game's a perfect analogy for someone with a hidden disability.

Oh wait that article is up:

The concept is just nothing short of great, but whoever thought that the joke-controls and precision could mix up really needs to stop a moment and think: "Why all of my friends don't enjoy Trespasser as much as i do?"

Well, i'm in the Supermarket with the only goals left to get the Soda and Pizza, but think i'm done with the game. Its pretty funny, but after 90 mins of struggling with the controls, I just can't get any enjoyment out of this.

Side effect of playing this game: Feel wobbly and light. Weird seeing humans afterwards, stable on the ground and grabbing stuff with no problem.

The supermarket was the real challenge starter, where you need to be slower and attentive with your legs to get to the frozen pizza. Now at the aquarium.
