Link is at the top of the OP.No metacritic?
I'm looking forward to the soundtrack more than anything. The first game's soundtrack had so many bangers on it.
I've always expected something very similar to the last game. After i read the hype threads about this game i expected the sequel to score a lot higher than the first game, it looks like its going to be about the same.
DQIII is coming if you want that.I just...the original is one of the few games I have not finished.
Why didn't they just give us what we want? (Ie, some epic like FFVI in this art style?)
Yeah. I hear ya. There is just so much about the artstyle and music that are great...its just...everything else is kind of a chore for me. But glad some folks are digging it!DQIII
Your excellency! Is the writing as "good" as the first one?
Of course it does!! It’s an Octopath game! Does Mario jump?? LmaoDoes this still have random encounters?
Its real lol. There are trailers.
Please be real.
Deep Down also had a trailer. Its real lol. There are trailers.
The HD-2D initiative is efficient. Not all from the same team, but some overlap in staff. Also put out Live-A-Live and Triangle Strategy in that time. 4 games in 5 years including Octo 2.It's really been 5 years since the original?
Remember when ff7 8, 9 all came out in 3 to 4 year span? We were fed good back then...
This team made Octopath Traveler, Bravely Default II Triangle Strategy, and Live A Live. Octopath Traveler II is coming now in February. It's really been 5 years since the original?

I still hate the stagger battle system. 2/5
Preordered for Switch. Hype
OT was the most addictive game I played in 2020 thanks to Game Pass. Spent 80 hours on it, I just couldn’t turn it off.
I never saw the lack of significant interaction between the characters like a problem. They had a few skits here and there, but the individual quests were all interesting enough for me to care and to want to see each one’s ending. The only real disappointment was the secret final boss - godly music, but the grind required to beat it was horrendous and the secret “ending” you got from beating it felt like it was ripped from a NES game.
If OT II is just as good, it’s good enough for me.
IGN's review describes performance problems on the Switch that are worse than the original. I think I'll be safe and stick to PS5.
I can't wait to hear how Octopath Traveler 2's battle system harms the trans community.Still holding off until I see the review from WIRED. I heard they do the best reviews on dildos and vibrators.
It’s all about breaking the defense and knowing the weaknesses. Story bosses usually aren’t too bad, unless you’re under-leveled
I like it on Switch for this reason. Easy to grind battles and watch a podcast.
My thoughts as well. If the second game is just the same I'm unfortunately going to skip it. I hope they improved on all these things.I bought the first one in hype for $60. Turns out the dialog was insufferable, there was no interaction between the paths of the characters, and the graphics were merely passable/OK once they settled on me, nothing exciting. I just never got used to that 3D SNES with insane lighting and floating cardboard cutout people. It looks like a mock stage world instead of a merely pixelated one. I gave the cart to my then-15 year old sister and she injected it directly into her veins, beaten in like a week.
First game was such a disappointment. I was totally enamored with the demo, but by the time I had reached all the chapter 2s I was bored out of my mind.My thoughts as well. If the second game is just the same I'm unfortunately going to skip it. I hope they improved on all these things.
I never understood this criticism, I never grind with first game, not even once, in fact if you try match the recommended level it becomes too easy.it ended up grindy
It is though. Finishing the main 8 quest lines was easy. Then, the end where you get the true ending with all the quest lines merging, was incredibly difficult and took a ton of grinding.I love the first even if it gets kind of mixed reception. Although now it seems like people are split between it being "too easy" and "too grindy." It can't be both, people!
Thanks for the heads up. Will wait for reviews and more videos of it and keep my expectations low.Everything I’ve seen of the second looks just as bad as the first
