Ordered mine from the Oculus store. Any idea how long it'll take to deliver (in Germany)? The order overview on the page gives me nothing.
Is anyone's right touch controller trigger "clicky?"
It used to have some kind of sound dampening, but only after a few days of use, it makes this clicky noise everytime I press it. The trigger itself also feels a bit looser now.
I looked online, and apparently this is a common problem with the Touch controllers? You have to RMA the controllers and send them to Oculus so they can fix it. You can also try opening up the touch controllers themselves to fix the problem, but then you risk breaking something else (they are not easy to fix.)
This is a bit of a bummer. It usually takes at least a year before I start having some kind of issue with a controller.
Trying the Rift out has made me interested in VR, but I want full room scale tracking like the Vive has. Trouble is, the Vive is expensive even secondhand, and I don't know if the Vive is worth it. I've seen excellent condition Vives online for $600 and that is tempting, but I think I'm gonna save my money and wait for the next generation of SteamVR headsets. If they put out a Vive 2 with the improved lighthouses and knuckle controllers, I might buy that.
Sim racing in VR is seriously amazing. The sense of immersion is unlike anything else except the real thing. That said, both Robo Recall and Eve Valkyrie are both very cool as well; totally new gaming experiences.
What's the best sim racing game? Any that use the touch controller as if you're actually holding the wheel?

Has anyone else experienced their play area (guardian system) move to a totally different area during gameplay? I've had this happen a couple times now since I moved my sensors to the corners. It still seems able to track me but you can see the green outline in your field of vision in a different area (no longer centered around you). Not sure if it's a problem on my end or just inherent to the current "experimental" state of the sensors setup like this. Also, it seems to stay there permanently; I restarted my computer and played different games with the problem persisting. Recalibrating the sensors/guardian guardian system was the only way to get it back to normal.
Is it perhaps best to just stick to 2 front-facing sensors?
IMO Assetto Corsa and iRacing are my two favorites, at least of the ones that support VR. I use a wheel and pedals; not sure if any of them support Touch controllers that way.
Received the Rift yesterday and only had like an hour to play around with it, my impressions so far:
- shitty screen
- uncomfortable with glasses
- hot as hell
- The sense of immersion is great, would be much better if it wasn't because of 3 issues above
I think I will play with it for a week or two then return :/ Will get back to VR after they release better screen and improve the design.
I've noticed this happens sometimes on my rig. I think it has something to do with using all three sensor on only usb3 ports as it may overload your usb board. Try using a usb2 on one of the sensors. Unfortunately I only have usb 3 on my computer so I have to suck it up.
In what way is the screen shitty for you? The couple of Rifts Ive tried both had high quality screens, I mean they are OLEDs refreshing at 90hz. For glasses I think it depends on the size of them - I have thin frames, so I have no problems except my glasses tend to stay in the headset when I take it off. But Ive heard people with thick frames have more problems.Received the Rift yesterday and only had like an hour to play around with it, my impressions so far:

You may want to try the Vive - it's got basically the same screen so whatever you didn't like in the Rift will be the same (actually Vive screen feels a little less sharp but with a little more field of view), but the Vive handles glasses a little bit better.
I guess "shitty screen" isn't correct way to say it but the screen is so close to the eyes that I can literally count the number of pixels, it reminds me too much of the good o'l 3DS screen in term of res.

Get on the phone and talk to a manager
Should I call the physical store? Im on with a dude who can barely speak english and I have asked him 3 times to talk to a manager and he puts me on hold for like 5 minutes and then comes back and says the same nonsense to me.
The physical store won't do anything. Just call back until you get someone that can help you.Should I call the physical store? I would just repurchase it and then wait to get this sorted out later. But I used a BestBuy gift card and Paypal for this thing. Now Im probably going to have to wait a week for any form of refunds to show up before I can rebuy this.
I never dealt with BestBuy (not in my country) but calling the store should at least help you with getting someone who can understand your issue. But they might not be able to do anything about online orders in store.
Do they not have live chat?

Thanks for saving me the time. Just went back to glasses from contacts. Guess this is a no go.
How do I wear my Oculus Rift headset with glasses?
Before you wear your Oculus Rift headset with glasses, check to make sure the width and height of your frames are the following sizes:
Width: 142mm or less
Height: 50mm or less
You literally cannot count the pixels.
Did you adjust the IPD slider on the bottom?
The device is pretty bad with glasses so I normally wear contacts. However I just recieved some Zenni Optical glasses and they seemed to fit great.

How great is the vr experience with an amd 290 and a 4670k? Not sure whether i should hold off and just upgrade my gpu. Thanks.
It depends on the size of your glasses. When I first tried it, it was literally impossible and kinda depressing. Since I got smaller frames they fit perfectly and it's not remotely an issue.
^^^ That one will work nicely.
There are adhesive pads you can get if you don't want to screw anything
Oh nice.
I've heard the camera that comes with the controllers includes an USB extension cable? Is this true?
From my understanding I was basically planning on putting a camera on the ceiling in opposite corners of the room. Is that correct?
Anyone use the Widmovr lens adapter? Seems like a good deal if you don't have access to a 3D printer. https://widmovr.com/product/oculus-rift-prescription-lenses-adapter/#prettyPhoto
How does that work? I don't have any glasses with lenses that shape, with a corner cut off.

Yeah for 2 camera room scale that's how it works.
I don't think they come with an extenion cable. You should buy 2 3.0 Extention cables.
You DO get a USB 2.0 extender (about 6ft?) with the Rift, but the Rift itself has the same length for the USB and HDMI so it's not useful (actually I use it to put the headset into a USB hub where my keyboard etc. go in).
pretty sure you're buying the lenses haha
Oh, gottit - the post hinted that if you had a 3D printer you didn't need to buy it, and the company calls it an adapter and offer it without the lenses for some reason.
Isn't that just some company ripping off VR lens lab then?
