Finally bought a new PSP, but then pushed the demon onto someone else. Jesus.
The experience of being in places you can only imagine but can't visit doesn't impress you? Even just visiting old neighborhoods, old homes, old vacations is enough to illicit a great response from most people. Have you also tried putting the settings to "human scale" and then sit on top of a building and just look down on a city. (Google earth adjusts the ipd according to how far in you zoom so to properly be in human scale you'll need to be planted on the ground/building/mountain)

Seriously! To go anywhere virtually is pretty damn amazing.

Third sensor came a day early so I took a half day and came home. Took awhile and a lot of micro adjustments to get oculus to accept the angling of the sensors.

Played a mission of robo recall...SO much better with 360 tracking. Kind of wish I had done the experimental with two while waiting for the third instead of the front sensors.

I now completely lose myself in the play space though haha. By time I finished the level and took off headset I had no idea where I was or what way I was facing.

I think I might need to get one of those portable air conditioners for my basement. It runs hot in he summer if I'm just watching a movie, let alone tearing robots heads off their bodies...

I love my Rift, but Google Earth didn't really impress me. I don't know what I'm missing. I keep hearing it's so good.

I think it's really impressive when you get stuff on a scale so everything is like a miniature set. Looking around my neighborhood as if I'm some military general is really neat.

I don't think I can go back to nonVR driving after trying out Project Cars for the first time. I've always really liked driving games, but always felt too disconnected from them on a monitor... but the feeling of speed in VR is just incredible.
Amen to that. Sim racing in VR is absolutely incredible.

I know its not an option for everyone, but I've been playing with this prescription lens adapter for 3-4 days now and its absolutely rock solid.
No shifting around, no perceivable difference inside VR from the lens. I can see 100% clearly now without tons of pressure on my face from my glasses.

If anyone is considering it, its definitely worth it.
Easy to install and remove as well for other users.

Or you could just 3d print the original design it was based on here, and get the prescription lenses you need here for $9

A few questions:

So I boughT batman arkham vr from bundle stars which gave me a steam code. Now it is showing up in my oculus library after launching it once through steam. Will this happen for all games that oculus has which I buy on steam? I know I only own it on steam but it's nice not having to go through steam to launch it. I also assume this means it's getting all the benefits of the oculus software?

Speaking of which, if games are purchased and played through steam, do they get the benefits of the oculus system like asw?

May as well ask this here also, because this thread seems more active right now.

Is there any place to get hold of Oculus Home icons to use with external apps?

I picked up Rez Infinite and Batman Arkham VR on Steam, but would like to replace the generic store assets with the ones that I'd usually have if I'd bought it on Oculus Home. It's not difficult to make some makeshift replacements, but I'd like the actual store assets if possible.

I'm a bit particular when it comes to small things like these, to the point where it'd discourage me from buying off Steam in favour of Oculus otherwise, but I'd rather have singleplayer experiences on Steam now that they show in Oculus Home, as it'd allow me to share them with my brothers that also have Rifts.

Hey guys,
Just installed this Inateck Superspeed 4 Ports PCI-E to USB 3.0 Expansion Card

I installed the driver off of their site but I get a USB driver update recommended.
What should I do?

I get the same message. Windows can't find a newer driver and I couldn't even find their site. Their Amazon page specifically stated the driver is built into windows 8 and 10.

Oculus still says I'm getting us 3.0 on 2 sensors and the headset all plugged into that card so I think it's ok.

Grrrr. I want this WARNING sign to go away! I bought this card hoping it would fix my tracking problems. *sigh*

This is the driver you need:

https://support.frescologic.com/portal/DocsDisplay?attachId=405794a97eabdad5cb9f665bbbb2a7550ad7e16f5bb4b7e7&action=download&zgId=7a869c4e25079d8ddc91a236738b3d70&entityId=405794a97eabdad5cc916f870745c6e32c0a55fabae67fb0&portalId=7a869c4e25079d8dc7ab06129e839249dfdb37e19e05da241559198a4dcd9882

If the driver installs correctly, you wont get that update message. The only time you should get that message is if you're still on the MS default driver.

Where is best place to put third sensor? Intuitively I assumed on opposite side of space but half way in between two sensors.

But if I'm reading the setup guide correctly, they say you should put it in line with one of the front sensors, why is that better?

If you're wall mounting, it's best to put one in each corner, facing downwards at a 45 degree angle towards the center of the room, in a room up to 12x12 feet.

Its definitely way overpriced at WidmoVR, but I just enjoyed the convenience factor.

Ordered mine July 24th, Shipped July 27th. Took a long time to arrive of course because it had to span the globe. Came in excellent condition and nice packaging.

Thanks. Unfortunately though, this isn't quite what I'm looking for.

These icons are ones that people have created to use for Steam applications in Oculus Home, but in the case of games that are actually availing to buy in Oculus Home I would prefer the actual icon that shows within Oculus Home itself. For example I bought Thumper on Oculus Home and these are the icons as they show in my library:

OJlcNP8.jpg
DY4fWRL.jpg

as opposed to those found via the link

qa3CvEY.jpg
kKnJL29.jpg

In this case it's not really a big deal as the user created icons are pretty decent (though I'd still prefer the official ones), however that won't reliably be the case for all games, and in the case of something like Rez Infinite there isn't one uploaded yet, and the Steam icon doesn't crop well.

Yes, these are user submitted so it can be the official oculus icons or something a user created. You'll just have to download and see.

DAMN! I wish I would have known about this before I put in my order.

74 bucks + the shit takes fucking forever for shipping.

feels like forever but 3-4 business days. then like 2 damn weeks to get to you if you're in the US

I know the deal is almost over but I had to wait until today because of how damn long it took for my travel reimbursement check to arrive. i want one but have two big problems because of my life: 1. I wear glasses which measure 5 x 1.25 inches and sit an inch in front of my face. What's the cheapest, still convenient adapter to order? How tolerable would they fit without an adapter? 2. My apartment is small and my desk and computer is flanked by a dresser to the rear left and a queen size bed in the rear center. The total free space is 92 x 42 inches. Can I play games like Robo Recall where you stand and move slightly side to side and use gestures? How many hot games use free movement? Will it even work sitting down?

Lastly, how good is stock right now? Is Amazon, Best Buy, or Newegg my best bet?

I can help with some of the game oriented questions:

2. My apartment is small and my desk and computer is flanked by a dresser to the rear left and a queen size bed in the rear center. The total free space is 92 x 42 inches. With your space being 2.3 x 1 m , you'll be between moderate and optimal playspace (most likely moderate) which will be fine with most games (if not all).

Can I play games like Robo Recall where you stand and move slightly side to side and use gestures?

Robo Recall is playable just standing and rotating on the spot, the game does not require you to move about in real life besides look behind you and ducking and dodging on the spot. If you stand in your play space at the middle and stretch you arms outs in all directions, as long as you're not touching anything you'll be fine (my first time on robo recall I panicked at one point when an enemy jumped on my face and punched the wall to my side by mistake to knock the enemy off).

How many hot games use free movement? Will it even work sitting down?
Most games that are released are adding in free movement now but will have teleport based movement too. Superhot VR and echo arena are 2 games that require alot of space. With Superhot, you can't move in game with the analog stick or teleportation, you have to move in real life and some objects can be placed on the very edge of a 2x2m space. Echo arena is a zero gravity sport so its hard to stay still when you're desperate to get the disc/ball before other players. You can play a few games sitting down too. Gunheart allows you to play sittting on a chair and has options to help with that. Raw data lets you calibrate height too which should help when seating. Then you have all cockpit and racing games, plus 3rd person games are typically meant for sitting down.

So after two weeks with the vr I can say that it was worth the price . I've put in HOURS on free games like rec room, big screen beta , and alt space vr. My favorite paid game so far has to be batman and rez. Hero bound is free currently on the oculus store and is a nice Zelda like adventure in vr . Highly recommend the headset . Literally spent nights drinking and watching movies and playing games with people in big screen beta.

92 x42 is definitely doable. I have a little less than that, and I still make it work with Robo Recall at least. In the Rift, you can set up a Guardian system where you can essentially map out a VR "wall" of sorts. As you get close to the wall, it starts to come up in your view while wearing the headset as blue lines and fades away as you move away from it. It acts as a sort of warning sign that indicates you might hit an obstacle if you go beyond that wall. As long as you map the wall just right and stay within in it, you should be fine. Don't go crazy with your movements and gestures and you should be fine.

As far as stock, I've seen Newegg and Best Buy have it consistently in stock.

The biggest differences IMO are tracking ease of use more than anything. Rift Requires more sensors to achieve effectively a lesser effect/accuracy at the worst of times. At the best it's about equivalent with the extra sensors but typically has less area coverage. Lighthouse tracking is open source and the future, if other VR doesn't adopt it, I'll be very dissapointed. Outside that I think the Rift touch controllers are superior to the Vive controllers. As for headset, well Vive has some nice extra features like the front facing camera to see your environment as needed and some small amount of diopter adjustment for people with poor vision. Although for most people it's not enough adjustment if you have glasses.

Bit late on a reply to this, but the Vive does not have any diopter adjustment. The only additional adjustment the Vive has in comparison to the Rift is an eye relief adjustment to increase the distance the lenses are away from the eyes. This allows the Vive to accommodate a larger selection of glasses frames / face shapes without risk of the glasses hitting the HMD lenses. Personally I don't need to use the extra distance even with glasses, but it's nice that the option is there - particularly if you're demoing the unit to other people that wear glasses.

Didn't get the memo regarding the 14th Amendment
So I'm trying to set up my Rift and it's not recognizing my HDMI port. I have a GTX 1080, and two free HDMI ports on the back of my PC. It recognizes neither.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I've updated the Rift's firmware and updated my drivers as well, and still nothing. :(

This may sound dumb but are you plugging the Rift headset directly into your GTX 1080 HDMI input along with your monitor? The reason I say this is because I thought you could use 1 HDMI on the motherboard and 1 HDMI on the videocard because my videocard only has 1 HDMI and 3 Displyports. Which you can't. So I had to buy a Displayport/HDMI adapater but you shouldn't have to if your videocrad has 2 HDMI inputs.

I tried that after reading into it, but I keep getting no signal for the HDMI on my monitor and I'm plugging them into both ports. I hope it's not my HDMI ports themselves. :( :( :(

I just try process of elimination, plug your monitor into the other HDMI and make sure it works but it sounds like you already did that so it could be the port.

Got my WidmoVR prescription lenses today. Hot damn, they're a game-changer. I'm seeing so many small details that I missed before, and Rez feels like a completely different experience now I can see all the cool-ass vector lines and tech jargon flavour text. Mwah.

Don't sleep on prescription lenses. Pick some up ASAP if you're near-sighted, you won't regret it.

My 3D printer comes in a few days, so I'm planning to print the adapters and get a set of lenses from that store others linked for $9.

The wait for the WidmoVR cover which feels a little stretched, and the price was enough to put me off from some of these places. Not that it's bad. Still waiting for my VRCover order with the long interface to arrive weeks later.

Doing it yourself definitely seems like the way to go from a time and cost standpoint. Took a good 10 days or so for my adapter to make it to the UK from Poland, and I hear it's worse for US residents.

It might be worth sending an inquiry to VRCover's customer support if it's been that long- my regular interface order was stuck on 'Processing' for a good few days before I got in touch and prodded them about it. Shipped a few hours after, though that could just have been impatience + coincidence.

It's shipped now. Just took a while. I think I'll have it in a few days. But I've been holding off really diving in to VR for the reason I have to be wearing contacts as my frames are far too large for the Oculus. Also one project after another to have that perfect setup because... Well I just can't help it lol. I expanded my ceiling tether system to have a pulley for the excess cordage in the back too. I've spent more time making things to improve the VR experience than I have playing! XD

Finger hovering over buy button....Cant decide!

Where would be the best place to buy one? UK by the way.

And dont think ive seen any mention of that Star Wars VR mission...is that any good? Seems like a dream come true for me.

the battlefront one or the standalone thing?

both seem very short

So i got my Widmovr prescription lenses thing today.

For those wondering if they work with VrCover...they do, and they fit in perfectly....as if VRcover spaced it just for them (because the top of the vrcover is actually different from the default foam so I was little worried it might not fit, but it fits perfect.)

So much better than wearing contacts. I was just wearing my contacts (as my normal glasses don't fit in Rift, I have the Malcom X frames) and my eyes would get SO dry and it would be annoying after long sessions.

now with these, everything is Perfect.

my only issue is, sometimes they can get a tiny bit foggy (which is weird cause I never had the actual rift lenses get foggy ever).
any glasses wearers whose glasses fit in the rift have any solutions for this?

doesn't happen much, but it can and it's a little fog, but its still annoying.

How is Elite Dangerous?

The game in general, and it's VR support?

It seems like a good time to try that.

And maybe by a flight stick...

So glad I held off on Lone Echo until I got my prescription lenses. It's so detailed, and I'm not getting any uncanny valley vibes from Liv. Really impressive, absolutely loving it so far.
Decided to start up Echo Arena as well and, like others before me, spent about half an hour just fucking about in the lobby. The locomotion system, practice rooms and interactive objects are ace. I also found a pac-man watermelon.

Point a fan at yourself while playing, and make sure your rift isn't tilted down so far that exhaling through your nose circulates air through the facial interface.
It's worth noting that my VRCover is in the wash at the moment, so I've only used the leather facepad with the prescription adapter. I've had it fog up a little bit a couple of times but it wasn't persistent.
