GAF's decline is only getting faster on Alexa and that's with all the alt-right flooding in.Wouldn't worry about it too much. Reset's eventual collapse is not exactly a far-fetched premise. I have strategies prepared for most scenarios. We have a capable, experienced, hand-picked team that can adapt to rapidly evolving situations. XF2's tools are powerful, versatile, and logically oriented, and we've extended them with add-ons and customizations besides. Any attack vectors previously utilized will not prove fruitful if attempted again. Good fucking luck hurting my feelings or convincing me that NeoGAF should be more like fucking Resetera.
That being said, if overflow or containment becomes a genuine concern, preferably don't hand the keys to another random imbecile. I'd rather maintain PurpleGAF myself as a public service just from a harm reduction standpoint. Christ.

I've stopped lurking resetera recently (except the Media Creates Thread), it's just gotten way too toxic lately. Even on the gaming side its pretty bad, I don't even want to take a peak at the off-topic discussions. The type of posters over there make me sick tbh. Some of those people need help...

Resetera really had me confused on the alt-right stuff. They pretty much call everything alt-right and from what I understand, the alt-right are the actual racists, so it was confusing seeing these people that resetera had deemed alt-right not saying anything particularly racist.
I also saw them say NeoGaf had become an alt-right hangout about 4 months back, I proceed to take a look and see whats going on and find people expressing reasonable and not racist opinions. Hell, what I saw when I came here was way more pleasant than resetera at that time too lol.

Excel probably scores even higher. You can check in the Banbot graphs how many reply-actions Excel gets. Reply-actions are staff interactions based on someone quoting or responding to someone else. So, if you respond to Excel, the chances of you getting checked by a staff member increase exponentially.

I'm referring more to the general attitude towards one another. This thread is a great example of it.
"People on reee are loonies, we're much better people than they are" says guy who spends his free time in a thread dedicated to bitching about people on the other site. Like 2 posts up there's someone taking a BBC article and using it to make a joke about a completely unrelated poster on the other site, someone else earlier was making jokes about trans people, someone else was calling for the execution of all journalists.
It's madness, it's like people on here and era are so quick to shut down anyone who claims their chosen site is a hive mind and that the other site is full of people who are crazy and dangerous. without realising that both sites are just a collection of people, most of whom are relatively normal and don't get involved in any of the drama or extremism.
Like, the posters in this thread spending their time bitching and mocking posters on the other site don't seem to get that they're really just as bad as the people they're mocking, just two sides of the same coin. And it happens on era too, it's not just a GAF thing, but at least Era doesn't have a thread dedicated to insulting people from here. The fact that this thread not only exists, but is one of the longest and most active threads, is really sad.
Both sites evidently have garbage people on them, and those garbage people making sweeping generalisations about the other site without realising the irony in what they're doing.

That's not a "sweeping generalisation". I said that most people on both sites were normal, grounded and not involved in the drama. Saying that it's a minority of people who are like that is quite literally the opposite of a sweeping statement.

I too would be curious about the amount of sanitation workers per site.
There are terrible people in pretty much every group. Pointing it out is a great way to shit on any sufficiently sized community, but the problems that these people cause seem to wax and wane based on their influence.
There are some members with rather... troubling opinions who have a rather large amount of influence over the opinions of others on the site.

Show me a thread on this message board like the one over on Era talking about killing Tucker Carlson post after post after post. We had one dude who said something gross about a reporter here and he was warned by a mod here to knock it off. Meanwhile on Era there was a whole multi page thread dedicated to Fox News Tucker Carlson and killing him and his family, i dare you to give me a thread here on this forum that compares to Era talking about murdering a reporter and his family.

Other prime examples where GAF is nowhere close to being similar to ERA are the forums' reactions to Jessica Price's firing from ArenaNet and the joke tweets from the CDPR/GOG community manager. On GAF, the majority of users agreed that Price was being a total ass and deserved getting fired. Those who disagreed with that weren't mobbed nor were they banned on the basis of the position they held. In contrast, the mod team locked three threads that covered that same incident because they were "disappointed" in how the conversation went in those threads. When the fourth and final thread was posted, the mod team made sure that the users read the "correct sources" (e.g. Kotaku, RockPaperShotgun, Polygon) by posting links to their articles in the OP.
