At first I was 100 percent against a spurs/pistons final, but if by some way that happens, I think that I wouldnt hate it as much as I first thought... Watching the spurs closer than before, I see that they arent like the old school spurs(dump it into boring ass duncan) Manu and Parker are the truth and the way they move the ball against the suns are ridiculous... I know the pistons are snooze fest, but I think that it will be decent...

Jim Gray asking a stupid question? There's some shocking news!

Oh no doubt. I'm well aware of Jim Gray's ability to sound stupid and stick his foot in his mouth on live TV. What made the moment great was how Steve Nash's answer turned a semi-legitimate question into a flaming trainwreck of insult. The question was so innocuous :lol

So....the Suns are basically done. GOD PLEASE DON'T MAKE A SPURS/PISTONS FINALS!

I will personally boycott that final.

It's looking more and more that way... the Suns are under the gun... Shaq doesn't look like he's going to return to 75% let alone 100%... now if the role players step up like they really need to Miami can still definitely make this a fight... but putting it all on Wade's shoulders by himself? Nope.

Either the Spurs or Pistons are winning the championship. If you didn't see this a long time ago you are blind. Defense wins championships. IMO it's the only finals worth seeing. Spurs vs Heat, Spurs win. Suns vs Pistons, Pistons win. Suns vs Heat, forget about it :lol.

You've sold the Heat short in terms of defense IMO. They've shown themselves to be capable of playing good defense... though IMO not consistently as well as Detroit does... however a great defense without the ability to score(and Detroit has had problems scoring from time to time) is still a problem.

I'd take Ben over Shaq any day. But you are right, Miami probably has the most complete and balanced play out of any of the remaining teams. Though the Spurs have gotten much better with their offense.

But I grew up with the bad boys, so great defense is imbedded in my mind. That's why I don't get why people say D-minded teams are boring like the Spurs or Pistons. I grew up with it, I love it. Just because people aren't nailing 15+ 3's or have 25+ fast breaks every game doesn't mean its not exciting.

D is only exciting when it's used against a great O. But when two Defensive teams meet, it's just not as dramatic making a huge defensive stop against a mediocre offensive team.

You know, this sort of bitter display makes me glad Nash won the MVP. He's putting up historic numbers (25 and 10 dimes four straight games, first time in playoff history that's been acheived) and is giving this Suns team a chance to win every night. Not to mention he's been hitting some clutch three point shots on the trot. What the fuck has Shaq done that's been of any consequence in the past month? They didn't even need him to sweep the Wizards, Zo's probably had as much impact has Shaq has in these playoffs (which is pretty fucking sad when you think about it), and Shaq wilted away like a little flower in the second half Monday.

haha! I'm going for the Heat, but that's so true. What vindication? Vindication would imply that Shaq actually made an impact these playoffs. I agree with Shinobi that Zo has probably had a bigger impact than Shaq due to his strong defense and big hustle plays down the stretch.

Sure, Shaq has given them confidence and motivated them, but the MVP shouldn't be a glorified cheerleader. Nash is validating his MVP by putting up record numbers. The only thing Shaq is vindicating this playoffs is why he shouldn't have won the MVP. Suns could be swept by the Spurs and Nash will still have deserved it more the Shaq is playing (or not playing).

What is this I'm hearing about Larry Brown leaving the Pistons at the end of the season to become the Cavs President of Basketball Operations? o_O Talk about a downgrade. :p

Cavs have asked permission to talk to Brown after the season... Despite how good he is... I truly believe he has no idea how to handle Darko, so I'm not going to miss him much. LB is awesome, but Darko needs to be given a chance.

Reminds me of Prince when Carlisle was around. Carlisle refused to play Prince. Now he's one of the best in the league on defense and his all around game is superb. AND he is getting better.

Hey bionic. My "shtick" is pretty long and hard with the way the Heat are playing tonight. :lol

Ben Wallace ain't hitting 15-ft jumpers every night. The Heat are a good team when they play in the paint. None of these bullshit long-range jumpers. Like I said on IRC, Wade only really developed his jumper this season, and it's not that great yet. I hate to give him credit, but Kobe developed that shot over the years, and has the range to pull off some of those ridiculous moves. Wade will soon too, but it's not there yet, and definitely not against a great defensive team like the Pistons. Prince is no fucking joke. So we gotta work them low. Feed Shaq all night long. He's just gotta stay out of foul trouble. And I know the team likes to play hot, but they need to settle the fuck down. Take smart shots. When we hit scoring droughts, it's because we're not working the ball around enough. And there's no reason Shaq doesn't get a touch each time they set in the halfcourt. He automatically pulls 3 guys in, freeing the perimeter. And DJ is hot tonight, we gotta give him looks. It seems like SVG lets them run amock too much, and they get out of rhythm. But minus the turnovers, this is the Heat team I expect to see winning the championship this year. Playing strong D, and playing smart on the offensive side of the ball. We're getting outhustled and outrebounded again, but playing smart ball means we can bean anyone. PEACE.

EDIT: BTW, we probably won't see much more Twin Tower action since Zo and Shaq both have 3 PF. But I think that line has some serious strength that has yet to be tapped. Expect them to employ that more effectively against the Spurs in the next round.

You have got to be kidding me. That was the limpest end of a quarter ever. Again though, poor shot selection. Taking some wack shots with lots of time on the clock. Not to mention, foul trouble didn't help at all. Better get it together for the 4th. PEACE.

all the way to the bank. If we lose this game, it won't matter much anyway. But I don't expect that. We will go to the Finals, and we will win. Write it down, take a picture, I don't give a fuck. PEACE.

Wade taking over-- he's really working hard for it, though. Doubt he can finish the game out that way against this D, but we'll see. Anyway, back to studying. :(

The Pistons can't miss from outside in the 2nd half. 8 3-pointers?!

And Wade is impressive tonight. He's single-handedly keeping them in the game. Rest of Heat = choke-job.

Huge game for Wade, but he'll need more help the rest of the series; besides, he's not getting 40 on 54% shooting again anyway. :p Still, nice bounce-back game for him after the criticism he took for his performance in game 1.

And man, Shaq is a SHADOW of his former self out there. He doesn't even TRY to get boards anymore, and he gets stripped down low more than ever due to the fact that he can't get separation from his defender like he used to. : /

1-1. :) PEACE.

EDIT: BTW, I was saying it all night on IRC. POINTS IN THE FUCKING PAINT! They should outlaw the 20-footer. Either you take a 3, or pass it to the big man. Wade took about 3 long shots all night, and only made one. All the rest of his shots were in the paint, or short j's. That's the Heat's game. It keeps our guys in close to the hoop to scoop up rebounds and make stuff happen. We're too slow to try outhustling this Detroit team. I don't know why they want to keep themselves on the perimeter, that's just not how it works. Anyway, good to see Wade have an incredible night, and because SVG got this team back into their game. We can beat anyone. Delusional? Who fucking cares? This is the time of the season when nothing else matters but winning. If I can't be a homer now, I can't be a homer ever. This team was destined to win the championship from when we got Shaq. The talk in this town hasn't been any less since then.

BTW, Twin Towers action is what we're gonna be about for the rest of this round and next. As long as Shaq and Zo can keep the fouls in check, they draw a lot of heat down low, and open up the perimeter guys, especially Wade. And the blocks. Man no fly in the house of Zo. :D We have a Piston-esque wall of blocks in the paint when these guys are together. People say Shaq is a sucker for the pick and roll, but not when EJ and Wade are playing this good on D.

I gotta give credit to the Pistons who shot the lights out from 3pt range in the second half. Tayshaun Prince went all Sheed on us for a while there, I was worried. The East is underrated. We play D here. We hustle. And we can still run with the big dogs. I think Miami matches up better with San Antonio though.

Um...he's still injured you know. And even then, he can still beat a triple-team to get to the hoop. A gimpy Shaq still commands an automatic double, and sometimes triple-team. Worth every penny. Glad he's coming back again next year, he's always been one of my favorite players. Now I can actually cheer for him on my team. I no longer think playoff Shaq will be in full operation this playoffs though. The prognosis on that thigh doesn't seem to be too good. But they have to keep respecting him or he'll put up big numbers on them. And as long as he's creating looks with his presence, that's all we really need him for. The real MVP. :) PEACE.

Disappointing. I wanted the Pistons to go up 2 like the Spurs. Wade had just about as good of a game as he could get, and the Heat barely scraped by with that one. No way the Heat win in Detroit. Billups with 8 turnovers, that doesn't happen twice.

For the record, the Pistons had 7 3 pointers in a row before they scored in another way :lol. Of course Rasheed got greedy and tried 2 unnecessary 3's, probably cost them the game... but they'll survive.

Only reason the Heat got up in the first place was because Tay and Sheed both got into foul trouble, Tayshaun sat out most of the 2nd. And all this was in Miami's gym.

yeah that 2nd half was so awesome, with all those non-stop 3 pointers. too bad miami rallied in the 4th. oh well, next two games are in detroit, we still have an advantage. :)

Let's not forget that this is the Eastern Conference Finals and features the two best (and the only two good teams in the East).

Game 3 should be good. Let's see if Wade can hit some of the same shots on the road. Hopefully none of the Detroit fans throw batteries at him too. :lol

Dude, are you the same guy that started a thread about other guy's wangs? Keep that wang talk out of this thread.

Impressive game by the Heat to be sure. Game 3 and 5 are going to decide the winner in this series. I see a split in Detroit and game 5 will decide the winner. I still see Wade as being the guy that determines the outcome of this series. And if the Heat win this you can talk all the shit you want about them winning the title as they will deserve it after beating the champs. Just try and go about it in a slightly less annoying way, or else I will accuse you of being a follower and disciple of Kobexology.

Went and saw Star Wars today and Timmy showed up with the wifey. It was odd because she's pregnant, and much of the film centered around Padme being with child and dying while giving birth. Kinda bad karma if you ask me, but I guess not everyone goes in with the privelege of knowing ahead of time that the subject matter may strike a little close to home.

Most everybody was in awe, but everyone treated him respectfully aside from a small flock of chickenheads that tried to rush his candy Beamer as he bolted the theater. I did notice that he was sporting sandals, and didn't seem to be laboring as he walked, so I'm assuming that the ankle stuff is pretty minor at this point. I do feel like a bit of a douche in not getting some camera phone pics..but then again I hate starstruck assholes who snap photos and schlep for autographs.

Well Wade put my fears to rest especially after his post-game interview. He admitted that he took bad shots and was forcing it too much in game 1. This game he was much more patient and got his efficiency back. Wade proved this game that he is definitely for real.

I agree that this series now hinges on Wade, not Shaq. If Wade has a big game in both game 3 and game 5, then the Heat win the series. If Zo can also stay out of foul trouble (which will be hard in Detroit) and keep giving them huge defensive plays, the Heat have a decent chance to defeat the champs.

<---Shot the postgame interviews today (it's a pool camera so no matter what channel you saw them on it was me :D ). Anyway, I couldn't see much of the TNT broadcast but I hope Barkley and co. STFU and start respecting the flash. Game 1 their lips were wrapped so tight around the Piston's balls I was in disgust. Then the entire broadcast it's graphics on who was covering Wade and how much he scored against them. Bottom line, the great ones have bad games, don't write off a player after game 1 and give all the credit to the defense. For a second year guy to score 40 and be that big down the stretch is something special.

Damn Wade dropping 40 on the Pistons was damn impressive... Shaq is in so much pain... no ups for rebounds, not getting up much for his shots(except in spurts), but at least he still has good eyes and good passing ability(I believe he had a double, double last night). Knowing that he's moving slower however he needs to continue to makes sure he's not letting quicker defenders slap the ball away.

Last night's game was a huge boost for Wade's confidence.
