Well, I didn't expect other players besides Duncan to have such huge games-- in game one, it was Horry, Parker, and Barry; tonight it was Manu and Parker along with Duncan. I guess I overestimated the Suns' defense. :D They gave up about 4 layups in the last 4:00 alone. Porous.

I figured that Marion would take Ginobili out of the series pretty much-- I was mistaken. :p

Manu also had a nice game 1 offensively. You can expect the Spurs Big Three score sheet to look really nice verytime they play the Suns. Check it out for yourself. Then you add Horry, Nazr and Barry to the mix and they can keep up with the Suns any day.

Marion has been HORRIBLE. After all that bitching he did because he wasnt on the nba all defense team he sure is being eaten alive by a bunch of white guys. First Dirk now Manu.

As a baller-- but not a shot-caller-- I resent the implication present in your post. ;) :p

Hell, the way he's been defending, I think I could take Marion off the dribble. :D

Yeah, when the Spurs score friggin' 43 points in the 4th quarter, you know it's going to be a long series for the Suns.

The Suns need to work on their defense for next year. There's no reason for it to be this atrocious-- they have the athleticism at almost every position to make it work; they just need to develop a defensive identity. I mean, even if it's a more aggressive style designed to force TO's (as opposed to, say, SA's solid position defense), it'll be leagues better than what they have now.

I mean, I don't understand-- they're so concerned with leaking out on the break after every shot, but the last two games have shown that they can still light it up offensively without lots of transition baskets (their game has been mostly halfcourt this series). Once they learn to couple that with some serviceable defense, they'll contend for the title.

Walton is such a tool. The way he and the other guy were going on about Nash, you'd have thought he had cured AIDs. Nash seems like a good guy but he doesn't walk on wate.

Why did the Suns' coach win coach of the year again? They play no D and hardly make any subs. Not like the guy needs to be a genius to win. Call pick and roll with Amare and Nash....repeat. Much as I dislike the guy, and the team, Pop should have won it.

Hah, that's funny, because Nash looks straight out of the "Jesus of Nazareth: Redux" casting call. :D

The Suns are so good offensively because they waste zero energy on defense. Once they try to implement a real defensive system, the scoring machine won't be there. They'd still put up some nice points, but nowhere near what they've done this season.

Or Carlisle, or Skiles, or Van Gundy.

Good point, but most of them are young-- I think they'd have the stamina to do it, for the most part.

Yeah..Skiles was deserving of it too, Van Gundy as well. I can't ignore their regular season record, but if I had to give an award to them, it would be GM of the year, not coach of the year. ;p

I think that is coaching. I swear at the end of the game when they were desperate for a shot they seemed like they had no idea what they were doing. The still think the Suns are a good team and that Nash is > *, it is just the Spurs have their number. Every team has a team that they can't match up with. I really could have seen the Suns giving Miami or Detroit a run for their money in the finals (probably losing but still making for a great series).

I predict Detroit is also going to get game two against Miami. Shaq led teams have a long history of crumbling under adversity. It will be up to Wade imho if they want to escape with a win.

Detroit/San Antionio will definitely get the lowest ratings for any NBA finals ever. Stern, LA is your only hope... :D

The Suns need Pat Riley to coach. He could get them to play defense and take this team to the Finals...of course he'd have another one of his "Training Camps of Doom" causing Nash and Amare to blow up their hamstrings before Game 1 of the Finals. YOU COST US A 3PEAT YOU GREASY MOTHERFUCKER!

I dunno-- I actually enjoy watching the Spurs. This definitely isn't the SA we witnessed in '02, that's for sure; Parker and Ginobili's athleticism, Horry and Barry's timeless teamwork and passing, and Duncan's dominance and utter control of the game from the pivot combine for a fun overall experience. They have a good mix of running and set offense, too. But perhaps the word isn't out yet. :D

Jordan was the one on steroids. Why do you think he would always abuse and beat up his teammates (like Barry Bonds choking Jeff kent?) Can you say ROID RAGE?!

edit: Why do the sportscenter anchors keep calling Horry Big Shot Bob? Its Big Shot Rob. What next? Big Game Jim?

I enjoy watching the Spurs but the general public is going to avoid this series like the plague. Some of the games are going to be really ugly to watch.

he's been playing pretty average (for him) in this playoffs, but i actually like watching Duncan. His game is so smooth and effortless when he's on.

No way. Both teams have a lot of fans, especially the Spurs all around the world. The 2003 Finals had horrible ratings, not only because it was the Spurs/Nets, but because NJ has the worst fans ever. In fact, I don't even think they have fans.

he's always been that way! Listen to him talk as a 20 year old when Rick Barry was interviewing him after he led the Lakers to an NBA championship! Now compare that to how Jordan sounded when he was a 20 year old NBA champion...oh thats right HE NEVER WAS!

Sorry, Jordan wasnt lucky enough to get drafted/traded onto a team that already had one of the greatest centers ever on the team.

Hmm sounds like another Laker "great"...

Jordan was busy getting his college education in geography. Does Magic know where Hurghada and Hammamet are located at?

It's probably been said, but..... I think this would be a different series with Joe Johnson healthy. But I guess that's why you need a deep bench. Or just a bench at all. Or how about 40-minute starters actually contributing. Nash and Stoudemire are doing it themselves... won't work like that.

God, shut the fuck up with the Suns hate already, you can't call them the THUGGETS and bitch about other shit so you just hate on the entire team like they didn't have the best record in the NBA this year despite the fact many didn't even pick them to make the playoffs. The reason they are losing right now isn't because OMG D"ANTONY AM STopid coach of the yer my azz! or omfg no dfence at all itz amazing they even won a game this sezon, it's because the Spurs are damn good (and partially b/c of Joe Johnson's absence, with whom the series may be 1-1, but who knows).

If the Suns had flaked out in the first round or maybe even the second I'd accept some of that shit-talking, but they are in the Western Conference Finals against a team most people think is far and away the best in the league, myself included, even I picked the Spurs to beat the Suns here in the GA Pick 'Em in 6 games before the playoffs (and before Johnson went down) and it has nothing to do with the Suns not being a great team, but with the Spurs being a nearly unstoppable team (though like many teams, they take games off when they can afford to). That being said, I have a sliver of hope the Suns can steal game 3, and after that who knows, but it's also very likely the Mavs series just gassed the Suns and the Joe Johnson loss made it basically impossible to beat a team like the Spurs.

Damn, that was awkward.

Jim Gray asked Steve Nash how little guys like him, Genobli, and Parker were dominating. After an uncomfortable pause, Nash replied "I don't know. I guess we've got a lot of heart" :lol

He sounded generally annoyed at the question, and it's a stupid question to ask.

Jim Gray asking a stupid question? There's some shocking news!

Spurs > Suns. That's just the way it is. Nash MVP over Shaq? HA! Vindication, bitches. :D PEACE.

You know, this sort of bitter display makes me glad Nash won the MVP. He's putting up historic numbers (25 and 10 dimes four straight games, first time in playoff history that's been acheived) and is giving this Suns team a chance to win every night. Not to mention he's been hitting some clutch three point shots on the trot. What the fuck has Shaq done that's been of any consequence in the past month? They didn't even need him to sweep the Wizards, Zo's probably had as much impact has Shaq has in these playoffs (which is pretty fucking sad when you think about it), and Shaq wilted away like a little flower in the second half Monday.

Hell, Ginobili's more worthy of being MVP then Shaq, based on the last few weeks.

WTF...boring? How the fuck are they boring? How the fuck are Gino and TP boring? Christ, they're beating the Suns at their own game. Isn't their fault they can actually play some D to boot. And the Spurs can hit the three as well as anyone in the league. Boring indeed...

The Spurs have the ability to play any style of game that's out there. They can fast break, then can slow it down, then can play pick and roll all day, they can pass it around the horn to find the wide open shot, or they can pound it inside. And their transition defense (along with their halfcourt D) is phenominal. They're far and away the most balanced team in the league.

Walton always dickrides whoever is the hot player of the moment. These days it happens to be Nash. If Duncan had won the MVP, he'd be riding his dick.

Hell, the fact that he called Steve Nash "unatheletic" says all you need to know about him. :lol

BTW, McMillan should've been coach of the year...I'd say there was a far more tangible case of racism to be made then Nash winning the MVP. But since Nate doesn't coach in Miami, LeBetard I guess didn't give a shit.

If you think the Suns could run on the Pistons D, you're out of your tree. Either way it's going to be a bore, but I'd sooner see two teams that match up well then the Pistons stifle the fuck outta the Suns on the way to a sweep.

Marion is such a dumbass. The reason they dont run plays for you is because you turn the ball over every freaking time you touch it. Try playing some defense and keeping your mouth shut. Better yet, grab a goddam rebound. If I have to hear one more time about how he is the most underrated player in the league I will puke.

What...the...fuck?

How am I hating on the Suns just because of my comment on D'Antoni? I have nothing but praise for the Suns effort so far in this series, especially from Nash and Amare. I don't see how anything I've said so far can be seen as me hating the Suns. Seems to me you're a little bit touchy.

As for D'Antoni, it just seemed to me it was stupid to say it was a must win, because he was putting his players in a difficult position, where if they lose, they might question themselves more than they should've. Plus I don't see him making any significant adjustments during the games, which led me to believe he has little idea about what to do in a close game against a team like the Spurs. He just wants to run 'n gun and then hope the other team misses some shots.
