I just noticed in your OP that you said China had less medals than East Germany. Did you know that China's first Olympics was in '84, i.e. 5 years before the Berlin wall fell?

That's as close as proof you'll get. Now, you can choose to trust the Chinese government and their gymnastic federation or an American newspaper. With all that fishy stuff in the article, with the way most of them look and act, it's easy for me to come to a conclusion. I might be wrong, but the chances are slim.

Do you know why the Finns aren't the distance running giants they used to be 80 years ago? Or the Japanese 40 years ago? Because the entire world, and pertaining to those examples mentioned, the East African running powerhouses, actually participates in the Olympics now. The world's field is a lot more crowded now. That's what I'm driving at, buddy. Try putting things into context.
