Took a break from school work to watch the Red Sox game and lol They are in full melt down mode right now. I still can't believe they are going to choke the lead away.

You know what I learned from watching a lot of KC/Detroit games this past month? Never rely on a shitty team to do your dirty work for you.

Bawston fans don't care though - they've got dem Patriots, right?

Besides, this just sets up a perfect underdog story for the greatest team ever assembled. Remember when they were 2-10?

Yeah, time for bullpen work like...right now.

Mind you, Girardi will leave him in through 5 runs earned so at least AJ can have the chance to work and get a win, but fuck that shit - just go for the throat, dammit.

[EDIT: Wow, Cory Wade time. GIRARDI WA SHOCK]

[EDIT 2: Cory Wade is a hater. Love it, love it - way to escape a jam!]

Seems like everyone is rooting against the BoSox. It would be an epic storyline if they do collaspe though.

Seems like it more than last week. Will it be worse than the Met's collapse of recent years?

Joe Girardi's binder triumphs for another inning.

[EDIT: The Mets collapse will forever be the worst collapse of all time. The Mets actually led their division when they collapsed. At least Boston was never really leading in the event they collapse.]

The Mets were seven games into the playoffs with 17 left to play. Boston was 4.5 games in at the same point.

The Mets collapse is pretty historic.

Blatantly ignoring the fact that the Red Sox had a nine game lead at the start of the month over the Rays. Nine.

Yeah the Mets is worse but pretty much all the experts picked Boston as the best team by far so they better at least make playoffs.

Everyone loves to watch a team perceived as spending their way above everyone else collapse at crunch time and lose out to a team with 1/4 of their payroll. Fans of the other 28 teams see the Red Sox as no different than the Yankees now.

It's sad that Red Sox fans don't realize that they have become everything they once hated. The Red Sox are no longer the lovable underdogs. They are a filthy dynasty, becoming everything they once hated. They are the New York Yankees.

Well it depends on how you're defining "worst". Sox had a 9 game lead with 25 left to play; Mets blew a 7 game lead with 17 to play.

The Sox have coughed up 7 games slightly faster than the Mets did. But if they hang on for the end of the season then obviously that doesn't mean anything.

John Lackey is pitching Game 2.

:lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

He had a good outing last time

It could happen again!

Possibly. At least he's better than Weiland .

It's crazy that Buck had JJ setting up Kevin Gregg until like last week.

Shame Matusz takes the mound tonight. He's going to get shelled.

I think the fans are happy to see them spend the revenue they make rather than just pocket it so they can be "lovable underdogs." What they realize is that they are trying to win (albeit failing miserably lately).

When will someone save us from the torture of Darnell McDonald?

Hey he at least did something today. Most of his teammates have trouble swinging the bat because they have both hands wrapped around their neck.

Yeah, because out in the field today he was a picture of composure.

EDIT: Aceves wouldn't have been wasted if he had been starting for the last month, which is what he absolutely 100% should have been doing. Francona's laughable too valuable in the bullpen rhetoric is a fucking joke when you can't even give a lead to the bullpen.

Eh, either way Francona would have lost that argument no matter what he chose to do.

This is a fact.

To be fair, the Orioles starter for the night game has an ERA approaching ten on the season. I don't know if even Lackey is that incompetent as of late.

...then again, the way the Red Sox are playing, who knows?

I think most actual Red Sox fans acknowledge this, it's the ones that blithely deny it that are the most hilarious to see.
