Evidently Pat Burrell is NOT getting released.

Maybe Giants fans can hold out hope it's Huff instead getting the axe.
o.0

I dont know why we would not release burrell. Besides his nice benchside talks.

Ned said he wants Kuroda to go pitch for a contender this year because this may be his last year in the states. Kuroda was eyeing at either Red Sox or Yankees. He will be dealt but when?

Kuroda and Carroll deserve a shot with a contender. I hope Colletti doesn't fuck it up.

2-5 in past 7. feelsbadman.

Anemic offense will do that to you. Alvarez looks like he is lost at the plate, Pierce sucks, Overbay is useless, and even Cutch is struggling mightily to hit.

Eric Farris called up to replace Weeks for the time being.

Much speculation that Taylor Green is on the PTBNL list for the K-Rod trade, and he wasn't called up because of that..

We'll see. Green is more of a 3B so his defense at 2B may be suspect. That may be the reason he wasn't called up, too.

I'd hate to see Green go. I think he can be a quality player in the majors.

That rumor is based solely on his move back to 2B this week, right? I think that was more of a gambit to try and show his versatility for a future trade than acquiescing to a request from the Mets to play him at 2B. The Brewers gain nothing by granting that request.

Also, Green hasn't played significant time at second since A ball 5 years ago.

My take; the Brewers were already rumored to be close on a number of deals and didn't want to call up Green just to send him down. Farris is beyond awful though, so that might be wishful thinking.

http://www.weei.com//sports/boston/...oncern-about-buchholz-grows-red-sox-explore-s

A source familiar with the matter suggested that it is more than obligation that is prompting this consultation. Instead, the source suggested that the Sox are “very concerned” that the issue is not muscular, but instead could involve a structural issue such as a bone.

The deliberate pace at which the right-hander has healed suggests that the issue could be something more than a muscle strain; perhaps the persistent back pain for Buchholz is a symptom of a larger problem. The Sox do not know that to be the case, and they won’t until after the right-hander goes for his next visit with a specialist.

Honestly would be shocked if he makes it back to the bigs this year. His timetable was already around mid-August and there are more and more setbacks, this one sounding pretty scary.

I'd be surprised if Theo doesn't make a move for SP. Not expecting them to go get Ubaldo but if somebody were to make a deal happen for him it'd be Theo.

If the Astros turned down Cosart, Singleton, and possibly Domonic Brown for Hunter Pence, then they just seem like they aren't going to trade him.

Color me surprised. Not bad, better than we currently have in the OF.

The two minor leaguers (Carlton Smith and Abner Abreu) don't appear to be of any great substance.

Abreu has some real pop, but a poor K/BB rate.

Fuck you Ken Rostnthal you fucking piece of shit.

Gord Ash just announce Weeks is out 3-6 weeks.

They're just trying to soften the blow for the inevitable out for the season announcement :(

Source says #RedSox and #Yankees both expected to scout Erik Bedard in Seattle tomorrow night

So desperate for pitching help they are turning to the guy who has established permanent residency on the disabled list.

Considering the Brewers training staff has never gotten a player back quickly, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised.

Ah.

As I said... Enough teams seriously interested- Someone is going to overpay.

I don't think it's an overpayment.

The Mets sent an established player and millions of dollars in cash in exchange for a prospect.

Even for a two-month or so rental deal, that's a good trade for the Giants.

Oh I think it is. FA pitchers fail more often than they succeed... It's rare for guys to give up their TOP pitching prospect for a player who isn't at the very least going to sign an extension with the team.

There's enough prospects in the system that could pan out. I wouldn't expect Cain or Lincecum going anywhere either, given how much payroll they'll have after Rowand and Zito are off the books, so just one or two guys developing to a starter would be enough.
