This whole thread will probably have spoilers for those of you who care... so if you don't want them, quit reading now.
Anyways, I was cruising around the Ubisoft website for SC and stumbled upon the start of the SC4 website-- www.bewaresamfisher.com. Anyways, this shit is looking phenomenal. I know some people have posted pics before, but I"ll post some of the relevant ones in a bit. Simply put, though, this looks as though Ubisoft is pulling out all the stops in the next Splinter Cell game.
Story: Sarah Fisher was killed by a drunk driver. Sam Fisher is then discharged from Third Echelon. Nobody hears from him until someone notices this guy robbing banks, consecutively, with the same MO-- no mask, fully automatic rifle, always calm and no concern for people killed. After a couple in a row police got a good shot of him on surveillance camera and discovered that a former Navy Seal was doing this shit. Sam Fisher. Sam ends up pulling off a string of roughly 30 bank robberies (I believe), then finally gets caught in Denver and sentenced to prison. A few months later and there's a prison riot, and guess who breaks out? Our questionable buddy Sam. After that, the only known communication about him is one piece of intel about a terror cell interested in hiring Captain America here.
Now, the coolest part about this shit is the website, which constantly updates their intel on Fisher, where he's at, etc. If you call the number on the "Wanted" ad, you get linked into a Sat-Phone conversation between the two aforementioned terrorists, discussing hiring Fisher, as one was impressed with his work. You neve rknow if they're terrorists or not, but it heavily eludes to it. When you call the number on the site, you then also get the option of being updated on further advances in the given intel. How do they do it? They send you a text message about once a week (from what I gather) that tells you a certain 800 number to call, where you call and get the newest information told to you via your cell phone. Kinda immature, but hell, it's still cool as shit.
...in all honesty, you should try to visit the site, even if you're not a big SC fan. The way they paint Sarah's death is so tragic that it feels like I'm reading about someone that I went to school with or something. Very, very real and gritty. I for one can not wait for this game to come out. This may be my reason for buying a 360.
