Official bitching about Hudson abandoning VC support. [VC/WiiWare = lost cause]

DK3 is actually notable for being one of the few remaining possible-to-release NES first-party games.

What we're still waiting on:
Clu Clu Land (1984)
Golf (1984)
10-Yard Fight (1985)
Kung Fu (1985)
Pro Wrestling (1986, ESRB)
Vegas Dream (1988)
Zoda's Revenge: StarTropics II (1994)

Dammit, when will we get Clu Clu Land? That stuff is awesome!

Well fuck me sideways, this week is shit.

Eh, we hit two VC games this week. That's tolerable. And I seem to remember at least one person anticipating Donkey Kong 3 in this thread (somewhere far, far back, don't bother looking :-p) And Ninja Commando is supposed to be good. Still, I don't think it's a good thing that 92% of the past thirteen releases have been NeoGeo or NES titles (sole exception: Alex Kidd in Miracle World - Sega Master System). A consistent two VC release schedule & some system variety would be nice.

Also, I wonder what's going on with the Turbo-Grafx16 titles for this month. Are they going to be split among the remaining two weeks, or might we see all three hit the same week? Or will some (or all of them) be pushed back into August? I'm of the opinion that we'll see Door #2, but I'm curious how the situation develops.

is your avatar from guru logi champ?

I'm testing out a few avatars right now. You're probably referring to the Poochy one from Tetris Attack.

ah, yeah, i was.

i'm hooked on guru logi champ at the moment and it looked vaguely similar.

Ninja Commando looks interesting, I like overhead shooters with coop multiplayer a la Ikari warriors. I've read that the game is incredibly difficult though.

Quality over quantity, please?

VC is about uploading a collection of old games. There should be stuff for everybody. It's not just quality over quantity. It's about getting the more titles as possible on the service.
When they update the VC, the bare minimum imo is to give a choice to the people that follows the updates. I don't mind if there's a week where i don't have a title that is interesting to me, i want to see the service alive in order so eventually it will be "my week".

FFS Nintendo release Pro Wrestling already!

It's definitely one of the better weeks in a while, if only due to quantity. Still, it's depressing to continuously get mediocre NeoGeo titles when PSIV, Shining Force 2, Mario RPG, and Star Parodier are all sitting on the table. I would have figured we'd have PSIV by now, at least.

Still, if all the lousy titles come out, we'd have to get the good ones then, right? So two release weeks are good.

Yet another shit week.
On the bright side I beat Lords of Thunder without continuing(mainly cause elixirs are broken as fuck). Looks like I'll have to turn up the difficulty and/or stop buying elixirs.

It happens every week.

Every Monday morning, when I first wake up. I think to myself; "surely, surely this is the week that we get something good. All these great games are ESRB-rated, they have to come sooner or later...and it's been over a month since anything worthwhile has come. I mean, there's only so much shovelware to go around, right? We'll get something good this week, I know it.

Yes, the thread title is still the same, but only because Amir0x or Dragona haven't gotten around to changing the title yet. Yes, something worthwhile will surely be in the Wii-kly update."

And then I read the Wii-kly update PR and my burgeoning optimism crumbles like a tower whose foundation is made of salt.

And the next week, the cycle begins anew.

I might pick up Ninja Commando if impressions are good.

Don't worry, guys, they're holding the big releases of the week back to announce and upload during the conference tomorrow.

Why must I set myself up for disappointment? :(

Ninja Commando is decent but not something I'd blow $9 on. But that goes for the majority of NeoGeo games, since most of them were meant to be pretty but somewhat shallow quarter-eaters.

she lends me DS
but I cannot forgive Wii
abusive partner

twelve weeks and no game
memories of happy days
color fades to gray

hope's touch forgotten
when the savior arrives
will we even know

...Wait, okay. I'm only stopping by real quick because I wanted to open the E3 IRC and go back over the real-time meltdowns or whatnot when I get back home, but I see that Ninja Commando is some kind of vertical run 'n' gun--thing. Maybe I'll actually have to look into it later. Mind you, this is a very, very "maybe." I'm not withdrawing condemnation just yet.

True story: back in the 80's, when Metroid came out, I just didn't quite get it... so I traded it to a neighborhood kid for DONKEY KONG 3.

I thought I came out ahead... for about an hour.

Yeah, these days, I'm not trading my jewels for a pile of magic beans.

Nintendo of America and Sony Computer Entertainment America must have some sort of bet going on because the releases (or lack thereof) of Virtual Console and original PlayStation games in America is embarrassing (especially in comparison to their Japanese counterparts).

(Sorry to bring up Sony in this thread, but I just found it interesting.)

No, it's justified. Especially since square just threw up some sexy psone games to the JP store (einhander!!) All i've got are mantears here.

Well, you can purchase and play those Japanese PSone games on your U.S. PS3 by simply making a Japanese PlayStation Network account and importing some Japanese PSN cards to buy the titles with. I recently purchased a Japanese PSN card worth 1000 yen and may get something like Ehrgeiz. (I have no use for games like Metal Gear Solid and Resident Evil 2, for example, because I already own those in physical form.)

Well, no storage solution announced at what will be here on historically known as "The imploding, musically tone deaf press conference of gleefully condescending, head-bobbing, arm flailing insanity."

edit: On Tues Miyamoto was pressed on fridgegate by Matt. He said they've been thinking about it "for quite some time" and "hope to have something more concrete in the not too distant future." Take that for whatever it's worth.

Star Parodier and Break In in the US next Monday according to vc-pce.

Japan gets these next week:

-Donkey Kong 3 (FC)
-Space Harrier (SMS)
-Samurai Shodown II (NG)

That's not what it's saying for me.

All I see is something about Chase HQ.

I hope the other two games weren't pulled. :(

I think something is wrong with the site though.

EDIT: Never mind, wasn't loading properly in Firefox.

Look below in the "Released titles" section.

Star Parodier? Magnificent!

This'll be the first time I buy something on the VC since River City Ransom and Mega Turrican.

I'm not going to go so far as to say this is a return to form...but a game I'll actually get is definitely a good thing.
