Official bitching about Hudson abandoning VC support. [VC/WiiWare = lost cause]

And the Japanese schedule for March is:

Famicom:
-Metroid (March 3rd)
-Star Luster (March 3rd)
-City Connection
-Joy Mecha Fight
-Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-Kun (Renegade)

Super Famicom:
-Super Gussun Oyoyo

Master System:
-Fantasy Zone

PC Engine:
-Psycho Chaser
-Bomberman: Panic Bomber (CD, 800 points)
-Mr. Heli

We need some Fantasy Zone love in NA Sega! :D

GC controller is pretty good for LandStalker.

Despite being designed for a pad, it is better played with an analog controller.

So what are we getting this Monday?
Wait a few hours bub.

Also Japan is getting 10 games next month. 4 week month for them (2.5 per week) but 5 for NA. I'd imagine the pce stuff is just late. It's usually updated on Saturday or Sunday IIRC.

Just had a go at Super Turrican for the first time myself, man that music is good.
Seriously, Europe wins this round for better music--and that's saying something, since Kirby 64 already had a great soundtrack. But Turrican... oh yeah. That's the stuff.

Well, I hope so, but from what I've seen, Turrican bears more resemblance to Mega Man than either Contra or Gunstar. Then again, we did get Shockman.
Turrican has more platforming than Contra and Gunstar, but the weapon system is far more like those two.

Admittedly I haven't kept up with Virtual Console news but...why is Square adamant about not letting me play, say, the GBA revision of FFVI on my Wii?

I still haven't figured out if I would or wouldn't buy Smash if it showed up. On the one hand, it's really outdated by now and I could use the money to buy something I haven't played before instead. On the other, it does have that much slower, more methodical pace, and playing it with a GC controller would probably be incredible compared to the N64 nonsense.

Whatever the case, no excuse for a one-game week, ever, unless it's a surprise as mind-blowing as a translated Wonder Project J2, or Chrono Trigger at a price lower than the ~2000 or so Square-Enix would probably try to get away with. Perhaps not even then.

No GBA emulator on the Wii yet. And $35 remakes/rereleases on the DS are more profitable than the VC.

Honestly, Chrono Trigger at 2000 Wii points would still sell tons.

I'd probably buy it even at 3000, since that and Secret of Mana are pretty much the only reasons I ever touch my SNES anymore.

WIIKLY UPDATE! NO NEW GAMES ARE COMING!

To celebrate Brawl's launch in America we will offer you nothing for 1000 points! MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!1

/bored

Please don't give Nintendo any ideas.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they truly do put up nothing next Monday (the 10th). And then I would be here in a heartbeat to spread negative word-of-mouth and probably write an editorial of 500+ words about why it's an indefensible move.

I could definitely see Super Smash Bros. doing well on VC this week due to people who are going stir-crazy waiting for Brawl... it really seems like a no-brainer.

Bearing in mind this is NOA we're talking about, I predict Master System launch week with 2 games.

Nope, it's actually just one.

Snail Maze.

Yeah all these shitty games the past few weeks are totally indications Nintendo are planning to release nothing this week at all just to rub it in even more.... oh wait.

Snail Maze is bad ass.

Now that I think about it, wasn't the SMB3 info late as well?

Actually, I think the update with SMB3 was the first time JSnake posted the info to us (before that he had given us hints only).

The 1080 PR came pretty late too.. I really don't think the time the PR hits has any relation to the quality or quantity of the actual releases.

EDIT: @ above post: Did'nt you hear? Wii're getting Smash for the Snes!!

JSnake said:
Obviously it's late because they're busy adding wifi play to SSB64.
Or making it with SNES graphics :lol

In seriousness: It HAS to come this week...it just HAS to!

Also they migfht add a photo capture then let us post it to the Wii Messege Board...they might do that since they did it with pokemon snap...(Did Smash 64 even have a photo mode? I dunno never played it...)

EDIT2: I gues JS has the PR but he's pretendingto not have it to make us go crazy!! :O

What makes you say that? He's not the only person on the internet with VC PR on Fridays, and I haven't seen the PR elsewhere yet either.

Clearly it truly is the week of Super Turrican, Do Re Mi Fantasy, and Shining Force II. It's just that it had been so long since they had to write PR for three games, and it had been even longer since they had to write PR for three games all worth playing, that they had forgotten how and needed extra time to remember.

It has to be some of the backlog games that they've ESRBed, and if not the original Smash Bros I don't know when they will release that - it just seemed perfect.

*btw thanks Jiggy about saying buy Kirby Squeek Squad - like you said, it's no Superstar, but it was decent for what it was.

It's so fascinating how eagerly you kids set yourself for disappointment every single week. You do know VC is just a high-tech skinner box, right? By all rights you guys should be recoiling in terror every time that press release arrives, but no... you keep salivating in anticipation, positive that this time it's gonna be a food pellet, not the usual electric shock.

I should write a paper on this. "Suppression of the Aversion Reflex in Virtual Console Fans."
