Mega Drive:

Woah, Cho Anaki is getting a US release?!

SECRET OF FUCKING MANA?! YES!!! Let's just hope a US release isn't far off.

Secret of Mana and Mario Golf on VC? That's a megaton in my opinion.

Oh wait, I'm in the US. Never mind. I'll be back in 2010 to discuss their North American release.

I really hope we get Secret of Mana over here, it'd be so easy to get three people playing on the Wii, no Super Multitap required. Mario Golf would also be fun.

I think Space Invaders and Forgotten Worlds have shown up on the ESRB and OFLC in the past, so we'll probably see those over here soon.

Of course, the real megaton here (since it's actually happening soon) is Cho Aniki. Damn, between that and me eventually buying this week's pair of releases (I've been too busy to even turn on my Wii this week), I'm finally going to encounter the storage problem. I had about 100 blocks or so after buying Star Parodier. I can clear out Gate of Thunder to make some room, but the idea of finally actually having to delete something off my system for no good reason makes me sad.

I have a lot of fond memories of playing Secret of Mana in multiplayer. I really didn't like the SP part of the game, but it was a different experience when played with friends.

Too bad the game can't be played online.

Nah, gimme the original version on VC in English!

Agreed. SD3 was deeper and had gorgeous graphics and an awesome soundtrack, but the auto targeting and encounter zones screwed up the battle system. Secret of Mana was much more fun.

Still, I'd love to buy them both.

OMG Secret of Mana was my favorite action-rpg on the SNES please come stateside!

I've never heard of Y's =\

I had never heard of Ys before this week either, but man has it become one of my favorite VC games in a hurry. I love discovering awesome old games through the service, it's a lot more fun than plain nostalgia purchases.:lol

Mario Golf 64!! I love that game. I would argue it's a little pointless if you have the far superior Toadstool Tour on GameCube, but it's still great nonetheless. I'm glad to see a new N64 game. I guess that means there's hope for something like Mario Tennis or even Mario Party.

Looks like Nintendo is really starting to pick up the pace with the VC in Japan
Fixed.

Though to be fair, Japan was slipping... People were becoming accustomed to how great the service already was an were getting complacent. Nintendo has to work to reinvigorate the service to make it even more great.[/sarcasm]

Secret of Mana sucked, but if Seiken Densetsu 3 ever came out as an import I'd be all over it. It's also good to see Squeenix putting one of their more popular series on the VC.

Also huge props to Hudson for having the balls (lol) to bring Cho Aniki over to North America.

Secret of Mana had a game-ruining bug where you'd be trapped in the arena following a boss battle. Seiken Densetsu 3 lacked 3-player support despite having 3 characters in the party.

If that nonsense is fixed, I'd consider buying again.

Will buy Final Soldier.
Would buy Secret of Mana again.

Would not buy Mario Golf, but seeing it gives me hope for Mario Tennis, which I would. I know the N64 game (referring to Tennis) doesn't have RPG elements like the stupendous GBA game, and I don't think I've read anything about it having excellent minigames either, but eh, can't have everything. I know at least the music will be incredible.

Also, I missed this earlier about my avatar.

It's actually Rena from the Star Ocean 2 anime, which is a rather bleh anime to a great game.
No arguments. Just to be clear, I can in no way support a game-to-anime adaptation that so thoroughly butchered not one but two lovable, strong video game girls and converted them into helpless stage decorations. :/ But do I like the art made for this one particular piece of promotional material, so in some sort of irony, impostor Rena gets to be my avatar anyway.

I assume you are referring to Precis as the second one butchered, but really, the anime killed most of the characters.

On topic, It's been odd playing my Wii again as of late. But, I welcome the change. I wonder what will follow Ys next week.

Wow, Secret of Mana. That's a pretty generous bone for Square-Enix to throw to us, honestly. I guess we won't be seeing "Secret of Mana DS", then.

Final Soldier is also great to see and I will be picking that one up.

So guys, Labor Day is tomorrow and it is a US holiday. Think we will see a themed week with games designed to kick back?
The press release will say that, but it'll have no relation to the games released. That's my guess.

Any educated guesses about Monday's update?

Mega Man 2 is the only thing with any "extra" confirmation (meaning anything besides just being ESRB rated). Dunno if we'll get it already, but it's out everywhere else, and if Mega Man 9 is really coming in September, then MM2 has to come out soon.

I almost want to say stuff like Phantasy Star 4 or Shining Force 2 may have a chance, since they're ESRB rated and out in Japan. It's also worth noting that the recent streak of Neo Geo releases is probably going to end for now, since the US, Japan, and Europe all have the same NG games now, and I doubt we'll get one before Japan does. World Heroes 2 and Fatal Fury Special are ESRB rated, but we probably won't see them until they come out in Japan.

You could kick back in Summers in EarthBound :(
