Official bitching about Hudson abandoning VC support. [VC/WiiWare = lost cause]

The only real challenge regarding battling enemies in Zelda 1 had to do with the control scheme.
I know that's the common opinion, but I think the control scheme was fine once it was mastered. And I also think if the game had LttP controls, the rooms with eight Darknuts or five Wizrobes would have been very challenging.

I had specified traditional Zelda games earlier; guess I should have done it again. But yes, Zelda II is certainly the hardest overall.

I never played Donkey Kong Country 3 how is it compared to 1 and 2?
DKC2 = A+
DKC1 = B-
DKC3 = C

Zelda II had the hardest enemies in the series in my opinion. The Bird Knights especially in the final temple. I usually avoided them because I didn't want to try to fight them, though. It's also my favourite game in the series.

The upward stab was a big help against those guys.

I have to disagree on that. 8-directional movement gave Link so much more mobility it wasn't even funny. And the mention of Darknuts reminded me of another sticking issue I had, in that you had to strike them from anywhere but the front to damage them.

Alright GAF, I need some help.

I just got 2000 Points for Christmas, bringing me to 2200 total. I spent 1200 of them on Sin & Punishment.

Now I am in a dilemma. From what I've seen and read, I think I'd really like Cybernator. However, I have my doubts that, like many VC titles, it's nowhere near as "full" or deep as a modern game. The other option is Wave Race 64, which I know will offer a lot of value for the price. But Cybernator looks like the kind of title that I'd like more, if it offers an appropriate amount of value, even that amount isn't as much as Wave Race's.

So tell me, how much can you get out of Cybernator?

I usually don't do predictions, but this time I have a very strrong feeling next Monday's line-up will consist of three out of those four titles: Light Crusader, Pro Wrestling, E-SWAT and Shining Force II.

Which, for me personally, would suck, because there would be no King of Fighters '94. Again.

Well, never mind.

It would actually suck worse if we got KoF 94 over any of those games.

Well, everyone's entitled to his opinion. As for myself, I am filled with giddy joy thinking of playing KOF94 again. :D

Cybernator isnt a short game, and like many older games it is one you want to play again to beat levels faster and better than before.

you cant really go wrong with either.

Cybernator has multiple endings and events also, depending on if you kill certan foes in time and other such things. It's also a pretty amazing platform shooter.

BUY!

Cybernator it is then!

Also, that part in S&P where you have to stop the missile is kicking my ass. I don't get why I simply can't beat it.

That part gave me trouble too. You need to be using the non-lock gun (the lock-on gun doesn't do near enough damage), and you NEED to hit it with the sword a couple times right at the very end otherwise you're gonna die.

Ah, I figured that out right after losing all my continues. I was just messing around when I figured out that the lock-on and non-lock guns have different strengths. I had no idea; made my second try through easier though. :lol

So is anyone else up for blindly deceiving themselves into the idea that the New Year's Eve VC update will be awesome and full of win when it certainly won't, or is it still just me?

Shining Force 2, baby.

Considering this is the first New Year's Eve I've ever had off of work Sega could put Radiant Silvergun on the VC for 10 points and I'd be too plastered to notice.

I need an advice for Waverace64:
I've beaten normal grand prix multiple times this morning (meaning I managed to be first in the final ranking), is there only one grand prix for each difficulty level?

I sent a friend Actraiser as a Christmas present and they sent me Eternal Champions in return. How is it? I remember skipping it in the Genesis days

You got screwed.

:lol :lol

I can only believe it was intentional. If it was just a blind purchase, you need to smack your friend for making blind purchases. If it was intentional, get him back. I'm thinking 600 points on TMNT might do the trick.

Seriously, what the hell was my friend thinking. The message he sent with the game said "Here is a game I enjoyed playing" :/

Exactly. It always amazes me that there are EC defenders in this thread. Have you guys PLAYED this piece of shit? It's not subjective at all to say it's a piece. Get your friend Urban Champion to show how much you appreciated that kind gesture.

Okay, Sin & Punishment's story and VA makes Resident Evil's look like Hollywood.

Although I probably should have read the backstory online beforehand, because I was so freaking confused for half the game.

I actually kind of enjoy Urban Champion. Not enough to buy it again, but I've played worse. Still, most people would agree that UC is a suitable revenge gift.

Yeah, unlike many other games, the difficulty levels in Wave Race 64 are sort of connected, in that when you complete one, you're expected to move to the next one up. You're not expected to just stop playing the game because you've beat it on any certain difficulty. I think that's one of THE COOLEST things about Wave Race 64.

For example, you're not just choosing Novice difficulty to make the game easy; you're choosing it to start in the lower class of the game so that you can work your way up.

There is but I'd say the game manages to keep the GP feeling fresh. Tighter buoys, more hazards, reverse, etc. The game doesn't just make the AI go faster to up the difficulty. You also have the stunt mode to add some replay value as well.

I'm starting to think ESWAT and Crack Down have joined Vectorman in VC Purgatory. But then, I said the same thing about Alien Storm and we finally got it last week.

Me feelings on Eternal Champions can be summed up in one word: meh.

The Sega CD version is loads better... still too crude for my tastes, but at least there are legitimate combos... and enough characters and fatalities to ensure you'll be able to do a few with some frequency.

The ideal New Years' Eve update, for me, would include Earthbound and some combination of Bubble Bobble, Ys, and Kirby Super Star. Better yet would be all four.

But if we look on what we had for Christmas... it's better to set the bar low ;)

Used the search and found nothing:

Is it Lylat Wars (Starfox 64 on pal land) compatible with component cables? Because the console resets when I try to start the game, playing through component cables (progressive and interlaced modes).

So is baseball stars 2 still as good as my nostalgia tells me?

I was surprised to see it on the virtual console. Deciding if I should get it.

any hints on what will be up in Europe tonight? got 700 points sitting in my account and somehow I feel like something awesome will show up for at least 800 points. :lol

@Mrbob
I would say: go and get Baseball Stars 2. I never played it before, just picked it up because of http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=8865544&postcount=16276 ... i'm not into Baseball that much and quite suck at this game at the moment, but I really like it, it's fast and fun.

If you remember the Neo Geo version, then sure.

If you're remembering the NES version, then take a deep breath and consider that you can't edit teams or upgrade players. The Neo Geo game was a balls-out "hit em far" arcade game with large characters and flashy 16-bit visuals.

Now, me, I LOVE me some Baseball Stars 2. It does what The Bigs and other recent games didn't--makes baseball seem exciting.
