Official bitching about Hudson abandoning VC support. [VC/WiiWare = lost cause]

What about the GBA version? I never managed to pick it up, but it looked pretty slick.

It's great...if you don't intend on playing with Co-Op. It's 1-player only.

It's a portable game, so you probably didn't care anyway...but still, part of the fun of the original RCR was playing with 2 people.

Oh, that sucks... I prefer my games portable, but removing co-op from RCR should be a crime.

River City Ransom EX (the name of the GBA enhanced remake) is better than the NES original, other than it being 1 player. Changes made:

*Characterd wear gakuran (school uniforms) instead of jeans/t-shirts.
*Other characters from the Downtown series (which River City Ransom and Super Dodgeball are part of) appear in the game as allies/enemies. More gangs are added. Alex/Ryan can gain up to 4 allies to fight with them.
*More weapons were added, including some specific to certain gangs. A bucket or trash can can get stuck on someones head, preventing them from attacking until they are knocked down.
*Alex and Ryan have more basic and special attacks. Allies and bosses have their own specific special attacks. Alex and Ryan begin the game with the Dragon Feet and Stone Hands techniques.
*The manual and dialogue were improved, drawing more on the Downtown series storielines. The storyline is altered slightly based on whether you are using Alex, Ryan, or both.
*This one was dissapointing, but the free smile option at Merv's Burger Joint was removed.

I loved the game, can't wait for the VC version.

Very yes.

I just recently got the first Lolo, and what a game. I can't believe I was so late to the party. So the second one being rated is excellent news.

If it would come sooner rather than later, that would be fine. :D

You will love Lolo2. It's even harder than the first one. I own the 3 original games personally so i'm not rebuying them but i always advise people to play it.

IT A DAMN SHAME Hal Laboratories is completely ignoring this IP. This world is very sad. Oh how i would sell my body for a Lolo 4 DS or Wii.

You know, I had no idea there was a River City Ransom remake. I wonder how the heck I missed that.

Excellent.

Isn't it true that Lolo 2 added boss battles or something like that? Unlike some modern gamers, I adore boss fights, so that should be interesting.

That's like... 1-player Final Fight...

Oh, wait...

If anything on NeoGAF deserved an "oh, snap!", then this is it.

There is only one boss battle in NA version of Lolo 2. You may have been reading about the Japanese version of Lolo 2 which is North America's Lolo 3. That game has multiple bosses.

Wait, wait...the Japanese Lolo 2 is the American Lolo 3?

Oh, wonderful. It's another one of those series with messed up numbering. I feel like the Angry Video Game Nerd all of a sudden.

So Adventures of Lolo wasn't released in Japan due to it being a compilation of a series called Eggerland...and the second game was released in Japan as Adventures of Lolo, right?

That's correct. And supposedly there are differences between the Japanese and English versions of Lolo 2 & Lolo 3 in some of the puzzles too. Apparently the Japanese versions has some harder puzzles.

I'd kill for a Lolo compilation that has all the English and Japanese puzzles in one package.

That would be awesome. I would also happily accept a system where Ninteno would give you the option to download import or alternate versions to VC games you already have for 100 or 200 Wii points. That way you could get the US and Japanese versions.

Actually, I think I'd prefer a new Lolo DS from HAL over a compliation. Add a level designer and WiFi sharing and you've got the game of forever.

Any news on next week's NA releases yet?

Waaaaaaa? I never knew that. What was NA Lolo2 for the Jap market?

Adventures of Lolo. North America's original Adventures of Lolo was a compilation of puzzles found in earlier Eggerland titles for the MSX (and Famicom?).

Ok now i see why i noticed similar levels in Eggerland and Lolo...

I can't find this comic's page. Where is it?

Actually, I wonder if we'll eventually see HAL's MSX stuff here? Ditto for Konami and D4 (who owns rights to all Compile's old stuff btw). A lot of it's already in english too (thanks to EU releases and PC download services).

That would be really nice, but first they need to be released in Japan. The MSX release situation seems really bleak - with the consistent delays (nearing almost a year now!) you can't help but get the sinking feeling that MSX's VC debut is on permanent hiatus.

Part of the reason may be because it was released by Atlus, and Atlus games usually don't have large distribution.

jarrod, I think the only safe bet for Monday is 1080 Snowboarding since Nintendo usually releases N64 games all in a 1 week period worldwide.

Just 1080? Meh... but I've quite the VC backlog already anyway I guess. :lol

Speaking of N64, when are we gonna finally get 3rd party stuff? After MM, there's not really anything else from Nintendo I want... but Goemon, Mischief Makers and Ogre Battle would be much appreciated.

That would be hot. Of course, Nintendo seems too complacent for that sort of thing.

I didn't mean just 1080. I just meant that the only game we can be sure of is 1080. Anything else would just be guessing. 1080 is likely due to the fact that with most of the VC N64 games, Nintendo has released them in all regions during a 1 week period.

In my user profile.

It's the same game (luckily), minus rumble but including slowdowns.
I thought 1080 Avalanche was a lot easier, mainly not wiping out every 3 seconds, and the avalanche sequences were a lot of fun.

Well, I guess all that Lolo discussion earlier this afternoon proves useful. :P Also, I assume you mean Super Street Fighter 2, JSnake? World Warriors was already released.

Lolo 2 YEAH! :D :D :D I was seriously not expecting that. I might even pick up Super Street Fighter 2, but I'll have to think about it.

That said, putting up great games doesn't excuse the (permanent?) reduction to two-game weeks. :(

Lolo 2, ftmfw!

Super stoked about that news. I had such a good time playing through the first one for the first time using the VC. Huzzah.

I lovedd Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers as a kid.

Really dissapointing at another 2 game week though. Why not give us one of the 9 games Europe only has, like Mega Man to make it a 3 game week?

Heck, if all else fails, give us Spelunker. It's eventually coming anyway (released in Japan & rated in Europe), and if it's added as a third game this week, it won't take the spot of a more deserving game at a later date. :lol

Two game weeks are somewhat bearable if both games are pretty good. But you throw a clunker into the mix and it ends up stinking up the whole joint for the week.

Fire Emblem and Virtual Console were the only two good things about the Wii, and now Nintendo has decided to toss the latter overboard. Oh well, Wii, we had a good decent run.
