Official Destiny Alpha Withdrawal Thread

It is folly having two.

Honestly they should just merge lol.

yeah, I'm not sure what all the hoopla is about anyways. We are just under 3 months from launch. I don't think anyone fully knows what is going to happen with clans until closer to release. Not sure why there is an official clan recruiting thread already.

All I know is that having an in game tag that says "Destiny Gaf PS4" or "Destiny Gaf XB1" under my name doesn't appeal to me. It's obvious which system I'm on when people see me in game, etc. May as well have a clan tag saying "I'm am playing Destiny on a Game System" while running around the world. Team Redundancy Team go!!

Who cares anymore?

Both are viable and there are no rules regarding this stuff, if the activity rate drops on either that will decide.

The fact this game will be PS4 dominant would say the majority of those of the general group are PS4 owners, if not all.

Anyway all the bemoaning is going on from this direction, the other thread was just getting on with it.

As someone having serious Destiny withdrawal symptoms and little experience of Halo outside of the first one, is it a mistake picking up ODST? I've heard it has some open world elements and I'm really craving a Bungie shooter. I'm hesitant to pick up any of the others with the Master Chief collection coming later this year.

Sorry for the offtopic post, but I figured a lot of people in here have probably played it.

ODST is my favorite Halo game. I co-oped it over a weekend and had a great time with it.

Pretty much this.

The obvious answer is to merge both groups with NeoDestinyGAF.

Quick question but are we allowed to have a DestinyGAF thread in the Community section?

Pretty much this.

I'm not advocating the second clan, but what happens when the 500 clan limit is reached? Surely there will be more than 500 ps4 members, no? Won't a second clan need to be made?

Edit: even if in one group, more than one clan will need to be created?

ODST is awesome go for it.

Not a Halo title to ignore.

Maybe Bungie is reading the thread and will up the clan limit to 1,000+.

What I'm guessing is you can just make PS4 group 2. Considering it's main group will be DestinyGAF, I'm expecting that will also be the tag the game will show.

You could always create a EU and NA clan. You don't even need to call them DestinyGAF EU or DestinyGAF NA.

GAF Eunuchs and GAF Barbecue

Also let's be honest here, it's a GAF Clan... This will be a problem for exactly one week and then the numbers will drop below 500.

Couldn't that be alleviated by say, creating a clan for NA PS4 users, UK PS4, Aus PS4 etc and so doing that for the other platforms with admin to look over? Still unified under one banner but would be in a clan with fellow Gaffers on similar time zones etc and possibly ease off the pressure of the clan limit?

Sorry, I'm probably not asking my question in an effect manner so I apologize. Groups are unlimited and let's assume there is some sort of clan cap. After that cap, won't there need to be another clan and consequently another separate and different clan tag? If so that is kind of lame, seeing as we are one family.

There is a distinction between Groups and Clans. The two DestinyGAFs are groups, not clans. Supposedly, there is no limit to the number of people in a group, and a group can support multiple clans.

Wait, which is it? Both are capped at 500, so they're clans, right?

The Alpha was capped at 500 for clans, but Alpha.Bungie.net was using a different system than what's currently live on Bungie.net. The traditional Bungie.net will be upgraded to the new system in the coming months. Under the new system, groups can have unlimited members and support multiple cans.

Ah, gotcha. So, for the current DestinyGAF, its cap will automatically increase come launch?

Wait, there's one clan with 5000+ members? Why is GAF capped at 500?

Gaf isn't capped at 500. Groups can be unlimited, at least that is my understanding. Clans within the groups are (supposedly) capped at what we believe to be 500. So if you have a 1,000 member group, you would need 2 clans in the group with 2 different tags.

That is my point, that multiple clans/tags in the same group is kind of lame. Even if you clan up EU, NA, etc, I'm guessing as popular as this game is already those 500 slots will fill up fast

It's a group, not a clan.

The Bungie.net system allows for people to create groups and allow others to join, so they have an area of the website to congregate and discuss things. Most use this for early clan recruitment but it can technically be used for any kind of like minded individuals (think how GAF has Community threads). These groups have no hard cap (that I know of).

The Alpha Bungie site had an actual Clan system that gave players a clan affiliation and tag in-game. That system has a hard cap of 500 players (we found out the hard way).

There's really been no indication that Bungie.net's Groups are going to be automatically converted into Clans. Most likely, when they finish the Alpha build of the site and launch it fully publicly.. all Groups will have to manually make a Clan under the new system. I could be wrong but considering that Groups have no hard cap while Clans do, I don't think I am.

Which renders the debate over which group is the main group pretty pointless I think as we don't even need a group on Bungie.net at all, since we already have GAF to perform the same functions that Groups do on Bungie.net.

Edit: Beaten like a Moon Wizard meme.

- DestinyGAF group is created on Bungie.net in anticipation of the Alpha-group being deleted with the Alpha site shutting down. The group is created by Raishin, who promises to pass it on to PsychoRaven when he returns. There is some misunderstanding ( PsychoRaven thinking someone has ‘stolen’ DestinyGAF ), but outside of that no problems arise. A new thread is not yet made for the group because there is not yet any pressure to do so and the people most interested in Destiny are in the Alpha Withdrawal thread anyways. The creators of this original DestinyGAF go offline.

- Shadownet creates DestinyGAF PS4 to solve the ‘problem’ of not being able to know what platform someone is playing on. Some people point out that this problem does not exist, because a single group can be divided in separate clans ( and thus the original DestinyGAF can be divided according to platform without the need for creating a separate new group ), but the recruiting goes on anyways, ignoring the criticism. Both sides repeat themselves several times, but nothing changes. Because there is no thread for the original DestinyGAF and because the DestinyGAF PS4 thread does not have a proper disclaimer, people get confused and some join this new DestinyGAF not knowing about the original one or just to be sure.

- People continue to be confused at how the clan system on Bungie.net works and do not read posts where they are explained. Confusion regarding the clans continues with some people proposing either one to shut down, some pushing for a poll or discussion, and others proposing that there should be as many clans as we want there to be

- I cry in a corner.

- I make a fancy banner and spend way too much effort in writing a recap.
Fucking. Brilliant!

So that makes DestinyGAF the group, and then DestinyGAF PS4 the sub-group or clan?

Problem solved, guys! Delete DestinyGAF PS4!

DestinyGAF had a clan in the Alpha (I'm in it with the sexy tag and everything lol), we just don't know if it will carry over or get deleted.

applied for DestinyGAF

PSN/Bungie ID: CaptCountry

Hopefully I can get some of my friends to buy a PS4 and Destiny. The alpha was great but I feel that it would have been so much better playing with a group.
