Great. I hit a game stopping bug. I've been playing all day completing end game quests and had completed the Knothole quests. After completing a Slave Rescue quest the game freezes. It saves right after you speak to the guard so now I load the save, walk a couple of steps and it freezes. Every time. Can't even open the Guide.
I'm currently in the process of re-downloading the last patch/Knothole DLC. Wish me luck.
I cannot find the "Murgo's Big Book of Trading" for one of the DLC achievements at all. I need two of them and it looks like my economy across the entirety of Albion is too high for the book to appear. If anybody has a couple of them shoot me a line on Live and I'll pay money unless you just want to be nice and give them to me.
Maybe I was lucky, but I found one copy of the book in a bookcase in one of the houses in Knothole.
It took me about 3 hours total to finish the DLC with all 100 achievement points. (Hardest part was finding the regal purple dye, which the clothing trader in Fairfax gardens had)
I'll probably play it through again to see how it plays out if I choose the evil ending.
Is this stand-alone? Is it supposed to be played after beating the main game? Is it integrated into the main game, so if you're really powerful, it will be a breeze to blow through?
My g/f would love to have the DLC it seems...she hates that her char looks enormous (in weight and height, cause of muscles and skill exp), and hates the dyes names.
The expression statue in the DLC is glitched/wrong. He is clearly "pointing and laughing", but the "pointing and laughing" expression doesn't work on him. You have to use the other "laugh" expression.
Since Lionhead now seems fine with allowing us to remove "permanent" changes to our character's appearance, here are a few potions they should add with the next round of DLC: Will-user Marks Removal Potion - I like using magic but these glowing tattoos just look dumb. Youth Potion - I helped an innocent civilian and now I'm permanently an old geezer with grey eyebrows and wrinkled skin. How about letting me restore my character's youth? Anti-Bodybuilder Potion - I like having my character get stronger, but it makes you look like a musclebound freak. Especially female characters. I want to keep the strength but tone down the muscles.
Twenty minutes is a little extreme and unbelievable. My char's stats are maxed out and I feel like I ran through it pretty quickly, and it took me about an hour and a half. Which is still pretty short.
Let me first say that the idea of an island where you can
change its season, and consequently its actual landscape, is pretty cool.
But did anyone else think that the
resurrection shrine was about as lame as you can get? It's like they added it in at the last second because folks wanted their dogs back. The entire game builds up to a choice where you have to let thousands die or lose your dog forever, and you can reverse that in fifteen seconds by reading some sign and then making someone follow you ten feet. And then your dog just reappears. So lame.
I am a huge Fable fan, but coming back to this from Fallout was eye-opening, IMO: Getting stuck on ledges when trying to swim out of the water, having to hit A to hop down a half-foot, and
having to leave Knothole Island so that the quest can continue (by asking you to return?)

I agree with you on that last point. I've played bought and played six games since I last played Fable II. It feels clunky in comparison to all of them. When I first played the game I just got used to the awkward controls and the annoying menu system. After coming back to the game to play the DLC, instead of having fun I just felt annoyed. Hopefully I'll get used to my gripes again as I continue playing.

After downloading the DLC I've noticed my game running worse.. Massive hiccups in Bloodstone (maybe this isn't because of patch/DLC?) Weird camera shakes, sound loops repeating...
I do enjoy the setting of Knothole and though I'm not sure I'll hang on to this after I beat it, it was a decent run. It definitely seems unpolished to many of the other games.

Lionhead has never been good at UIs. The one in the original Fable was downright terrible, especially on the PC, and Black and White weren't much to sneeze at either. Fable II was an amazing improvement from Fable, but still quite meh in the UI aspect.

Yeah, the game is really rough around the edges. I hate to see games like this spend years in development and then ship a month or so earlier than they should. A bit more time to cook and iron out some of these issues would have done the game a world of good.
Looking back at when it was announced that the game would ship without online co-op (patch to come launch week), a lot of people were seeing that as a sign that the game was being rushed, and coming right down to the wire, with the fear of this kind of roughness a result. It's really too bad.
I'm on the fence now about the DLC. I have enough new XBLA games and a backlog to work off that $10 for a couple hours in Fable II is actually a bit steep. I was hoping for a longer play time with this. I love the game and want more time with it, but the cost:value ratio doesn't feel right.
This is driving me CRAZY! How do I reach the chest pictured here? http://i43.tinypic.com/1417acp.jpg
I've tried every season and I can't find a way to that area. Help me GAF, you are my only hope.
EDIT: Nevermind.

go through the Storm Shrine a second time. I think the weather changes back to winter the first time you complete it, which is why I missed it before. Either that or I'm blind as a bat.
Also, fuck yeah at the
Halo Assault Rifle, Elvis costume, and guitar weapon

What do you do with the last spinner in the ice totem quest, so far its shoot magic shoot shoot but the last one being colourblind is fucking me over and becoming rather annoying tbh.
One of the things I needed to trade to get an item in the Box of Secrets shop was the regal purple dye.
Judging by your reply, I falsely assumed the trade-in requirements were the same for everyone.
I like a lot of the stuff in the game (setting, humor etc.) but the controls in combination with the animations are horrible. This is totally taking me out of the experience because I'm constantly running against walls and stuff with my great big hero. Am I the only one bothered by that? It's so floaty, ugh. Almost like Fallout.

No, they are the same for everybody. He must not have done that one yet. I got the dye off of a traveling clothes salesman. I'll hunt for my two books some this morning but if I can't find them I may just give up. If anybody is online this morning with the two Murgo's books my Gamertag is UraMallas.

I've done them all, as I stated in my earlier post. I have every item and all the achievements. It's possible that I already had enough regal purple dye and didn't notice what I was trading. Which item was it for?
There seems to be a fair number of game ending crashes and glitches.
To offset this is there a way to manipulate your save slots. You know, save in multiple slots. The game seems to take care of this whithout you selecting what 'card' you save on.
Damn I guess I'm the only one that absolutely loves the DLC. I think I put like 3 hours in and I'm not even done (only 1 achievement). I'm spending lots of time getting all of the stuff to trade in for the gifts.
It's kind of funny because when my
dog died he was black and when he got resurrected he was golden brown lol. I became good after I got all of the gold from the end game choice. I didnt get any evil points and nobody saw me when I resurrected him. So I was very pleased about that. It's nice to have him back just to dig up treasure which I missed. I for one dont care that we got him back I'm happy he's back. I dont really care about the impact of the choice. As far as my wife and kids are concerned I didnt really care either. I got a new whore now although I cant have more than 1 kid which is weird since I had 3 before and I only have unprotected sex (lol).
The bitch is really high maintenance though and so is my annoying daughter. Shit I put them up in Reaver's crib and they're STILL not happy all the time. PLus my wife wants sex all the time which sucks. Guess I shouldnt have married the town whore lol.
Any way does the halo not show up in the armor or something? Plus I dont have that red glow thingy. But I only have the knothole knight armor is that the reason? Do you get the rest of the armor by getting all of the trade in gifts/surprises?
And btw, the AR fucking ROCKS! So does the guitar lol
Augment remover ftmfw too. I like the potions but yeah lets get a potion to get rid of the Baldur look plz. Oh and my character is a giant now, I'm thinking of trying the get small potions along with the get really fat potion for the lulz
Thanks for the impressions ChrisGoldstein. I find that whatever consensus on gameplay time GAF comes to, I can add a few hours to it. I tend to take my time and enjoy. I imagine if everyone here is complaining about 1 to 2 hours, I'll get 5 out of it. And honestly, I would have paid $5 for the new weapons and armor alone, so $5 for 5 hours is a great deal.
The puny carrots show up in the poorer food stalls (same with Crunchy Chicks). I bought the purple dye from a clothes trader in Fairfax Gardens and the pure extract from the Bowerstone Alchemy shop. I'm still looking for another copy of Murgo's book. Dammit.
If you were digging everywhere the dog wanted you to in the DLC portion, you should have found at least two pure experience extracts before you could exchange them for anything. I did.
